Brandt Snedeker Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Past Farmers Insurance Champion starting to find his game at the right time

Looking to bounce back from what was a very awful year, Brandt Snedeker is set to play this week's Farmers Insurance Open with a little bit of positive momentum on his side. Snedeker is two for two in cuts this calendar season with an impressive top 15 at last week's American Express. Prior to last week's top finish at the American Express Snedeker had missed his three previous cuts at that event. Almost a full year into a swing coach change it appears Snedeker could be heading in the right direction in terms of getting his game back. Trending at a very low ownership number for this week, Snedeker has more than enough strong course history to stand out as a great value option for the week. In addition to his two wins at this event, Snedeker has 4 top ten or better finishes in his 12 career starts at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Brandt Snedeker looks to build on a good week

Prior to last week's top 20 finish at The Sanderson Farms Championship, Brandt Snedeker had all the signs of a struggling golfer. Since the tour's restart in June Snedeker had only made 4 of 8 cuts with no top 40 or better finishes. For those willing to dig in and find out a bit more about Snedeker's struggles, you would have seen that he had recently just switched coaches. Now working with former tour player Bradley Hughes, Snedeker is hopeful to build on a good week. With a change in coach and perhaps some swing philosophy there is always a chance of poor form in the short term, but despite his poor results, you could see flashes of Snedeker finding his game. His missed cuts were often due to a poor start or just a few bad holes. Snedeker is often a streaky golfer and with a price that is still low in comparison to his talent level there is strong merit to adding this short game specialist to your roster builds for the week.

Brandt Snedeker looks to bounce back from a missed cut

A poor first round at last week's Safeway Open really put Brandt Snedeker in a tough spot heading into Friday's round. Snedeker fired a solid 32 on his front nine on Friday but faltered late to miss the cut. Over the last few weeks, I have seen bits and pieces of Snedeker working with Bradley Hughes on his game. Hughes is one of the hottest coaches on tour with a growing stable of players. Brendon Todd relied extensively on Hughes to rebuild his game over the past few years. Snedeker will head into this week's U.S. Open with very little fanfare and could make for a good low owned GPP flyer for the week. Typically a steady type of player that relies on his putter, Snedeker fits the mold of what can be a good player on a hard U.S. Open course.

Brandt Snedeker looks to build on a positive course history

Currently looking for his first top 25 or better finish since the tour launched its restart, Brandt Snedeker enters this week looking to fine-tune his game ahead of the FedEx Cup playoffs. Currently, inside the top 100 in the point list, Snedeker could use a good week to ensure a chance at making a deep run in this year's playoffs. Despite his poor recent form, Snedeker does have a positive course history at Sedgefield Country Club and could make for an interesting tournament option at what looks to be a low POWN number. In addition to winning this event, Snedeker owns four top 10 or better finishes at The Wyndham Championship. For those who are unsure about adding Snedeker to a full week roster then you could look to gain exposure to him in showdown slates. Highlighted by a 59 Snedeker has 15 rounds of 68 or better in his last 20 at Sedgefield.

Favorite Punt Play of the Week

If we are looking at long-term form and overall pedigree as a golfer, Snedeker stands out in this price range. He has struggled in recent tournaments, but he is simply a better golfer than his $6400 price tag suggests. Snedeker is not the typical profile of a golfer that I like to target, he is more known for his short game and putting than his ball striking, but in tougher field events such as this, that grinder style can prevail. He has had success in WGC events in the past, finished 27th at the St. Jude last year, and is overall just a nice value piece that you can plug into your lineup and have plenty of salary remaining to allocate elsewhere.

Brandt Snedeker stands out as a great point per dollar option

WGC events are a great reward for any player on tour. Events such as this week's WGC FedEx St. Jude's are a chance for players to play against the best players in the world. Playing in his 28th WGC event this week Brandt Snedeker is a player that would love to add the title of WGC Champion to his resume. Priced-down in this very strong field, Snedeker is trending as a top point per option for the week. Having not played his best golf since the restart, Snedeker will look to build on a top 30 finish from last year's WGC event. Snedeker has posted a top 25 or better in 10 of his 27 WGC starts. At his bottom-barrel price, a top 30 type of finish should do the job in terms of DFS for the week, and as a proven tour winner, Snedeker has proven he can offer more than just a top 25 finish.

Five Minutes to roster lock at The Memorial, no major news to report

Outside of Brandt Snedeker's withdrawal, it has been a very quiet week in terms of player news. ResultsDB will be up and running a few minutes after lock. Good luck this week Grinders!!!

Brandt Snedeker is no longer in the field

Brandt Snedeker is no longer in this week's Memorial field. There will not be a replacement for Snedeker and the field currently sits at 131 golfers. At this time there is no injury news associated with this move.

Can't Believe I'm Backing a Golfer that Lost Six Strokes on Approach Last Week

Snedeker didn't make my list of recommended plays the first time around, but I'm swapping him in for Doc Redman as a core play. While I still like Redman this week, I like what the $600 savings does for the rest of my lineup. I also think Snedeker is the better golfer overall. There are essentially two times we should look to load up on Sneds -- on Donald Ross courses (second most strokes gained total in this field on Ross designs) and on poa greens. He gets both of those this week at the Detroit Golf Club. In an interview, he said the only reason he played this event last year was because the course was designed by Ross. He clearly had success on these greens, gaining 7.5 strokes putting. It's always a little scary backing a golfer whose best weapon is his putter, but I can't pass on Sneds at this price point.

Welcome Back!

It has been a long time since I have targeted Snedeker, but this feels like the spot to buy back in. With these greens playing as a poa/bentgrass mix, Snedeker should be in good shape as one of the Tour’s best putters on poa surfaces. Snedeker shook off the rust last week on his way to a respectable finish in a strong field. He also has good baseline numbers on Donald Ross course designs, and that includes a fifth place finish in the debut of this event a year ago. Snedeker tends to run hot and cold, but he’s a fine tournament option in DFS, and I like him as a longshot outright bet at 55-to-1.
