Brian Elliott Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
This goalie has the best chance at a win
Brian Elliott is just $7,300 on DraftKings and $7,600 on FanDuel. Checking in as the biggest favorite of the night by a considerable margin, Elliott makes for a nice play in all formats. With all their big names traded away, a once formidable Ottawa offense has struggled after the All-Star break, averaging just 2.47 goals per game. Elliott has looked good in his return outside of a stinker against Washington, but the Senators present an easier foe. Look for Elliott to limit the damage and get the win.
Top Goalie Tonight?
The Philadelphia Flyers are the biggest favorite on the board tonight as they face a Detroit Red Wings team that not only has trouble scoring, but is also playing on the tail end of a back-to-back. The Red Wings may have scored six goals last night in New York, but this is certainly not an offense to fear. On the season, Detroit ranks 21st overall in the National Hockey League in shots per game, and 25th in goals per game. Brian Elliott has been excellent in the month of December (2.00 GAA, .930 SV%), and I think we see another strong performance from him tonight at the Wells Fargo Center.

Elliott to Stay Hot Saturday?
With the Stars playing three games in four nights and back-to-back, Elliott on home ice has a better setup than it may seem. The Dallas offense has been better of late, but they still enter this game a different team than the offensive juggernaut we are used to. At the same time, the Flyers are one of the stingiest defenses in the league, limiting scoring chances and high-danger shot attempts against en route to an impressive 2.14 xGA/60 at 5v5 (24th). Look, we both know it is not a comforting feeling to plug in Elliott, but the setup is there and Elliott is playing well -- the guy has allowed just eight goals over his past five games. With Philly playing well and the pieces in place to offset the Dallas weapons, Elliott offers good upside at his price.
A fine match-up awaits this under-priced net minder
After a terrible month of November, Brian Elliot's strong recent play finally appears to have righted the ship for the Philadelphia Flyers. Philly has now won four straight games and Elliott has posted an impressive 4-1-0 record to go along with a 2.02 GAA and .936 SV% thus far during the month of December. Tonight, Mr. Elliott not only comes at a very reasonable asking price, but also happens to have one of best matchups on the board as the Flyers will play host to a Buffalo Sabres squad that has averaged an NHL worst 2.18 goals per game this season.
Veteran goalie rounding into mid-season form
Brian Elliott was awful to start the season with his new team, but things have changed. Since the beginning of November, the Philadelphia Flyers (yes, that's correct) have allowed an NHL low 49.55 CA/60 and Elliott has posted an impressive 1.99 GAA and .934 save percentage during that same span. Tonight, he'll square off against a Vancouver team that has averaged just 2.55 goals per game on the young season. As a fairly heavy favorite on a short three-game slate, Elliott's bargain price-tag will likely make him quite popular this evening in all game formats.
Tonight's Top Tender!
If you are playing cash games tonight or simply looking to lock up the all important win in goal, Brian Elliott is your guy. The Philadelphia Flyers goaltender got off to a slow start this year, but he is starting to round into form, and he has a plus matchup on deck. The Arizona Coyotes remain winless on the season (0-10-1), and they are not an offense to fear, averaging just 2.36 goals per game, good for 29th overall in the National Hockey League. On DraftKings you could certainly go another route (both Sergei Bobrovksy and Jaroslav Halak are less expensive), but on FanDuel, Elliott is a tough fade at just $7,400. Regardless of what site you are playing on, Elliott is the safest option between the pipes on this eight-game slate.
The reward outweighs the risk for this net-minder tonight.
Elliot's career in Philadelphia hasn't started off quite how he had likely hoped, but he's earned our patience after years of rock-solid performances in St. Louis. While nothing to write home about, his 0.93 GSAA shows that he was still an above average netminder last season despite his struggles with the Calgary Flames. Elliott should be able to pull some confidence from Philadelphia's easy 8-2 win over Washington in their last game and tonight he'll host the a Florida team that has averaged an NHL high 42.0 SOG/game this season. With a heavy workload likely awaiting him, his ceiling outweighs his risk this evening.
High-upside GPP play
The San Jose Sharks do not look like they have near the firepower as in years past. Sure, losing Patrick Marleau isn't the biggest loss in the world, but guys like Joe Thornton are also one year older. On top of that, Brent Burns is 32 and Joe Pavelski is 33. Now, this isn't really that old. But a team that is aging fast without too much depth up front could be in trouble this season. Brian Elliott left Calgary after one forgettable season. The Flyers are looking to get back into the playoff picture this season. Elliott is much cheaper than other starting goalies on the slate when he really shouldn't be. The Flyers defence still leaves a lot to be desired, however Elliott has the upside to put up a big score even if the Sharks pepper him with shots. He's still an underdog, but he definitely has the upside to put up the highest goalie score on the slate.
