Brian Gay is no longer in the field
Last week's surprise winner Brain Gay has decided to skip out on this week's Houston Open. Gay has been replaced by Fabián Gómez. Due to the timing of this move, we should not see Gomez added to the full week pricing pool, but he will show up in round two showdown slates.
Bud Cauley and Brian Gay are both no longer in the field
The Sanderson Farms Championship field got a bit more player movement on Tuesday as both Bud Cauley and Brian Gay have decided to not play this week. Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Matt Every have been added to the field as replacements. Both players will receive projections if and when they get added to the player pool.
One of the Few Events he can Win
Gay was a late add to the picks last week and I’m going right back to the well. Despite a shaky second round, he finished in a tie for 14th and even got a hole in one on Sunday. His statistics aren’t going to jump off the page at us, but he’s quietly been in very good form recently. He has made five straight cuts with three top 15 finishes during that stretch. He’s one of the best putters in the world, especially on Bermuda. The biggest weakness is his driver and that shouldn’t be a big issue at this event. He has played here in each of the last two seasons, posting finishes of T3 and T23. I like the form, the course fit, and the potential low ownership.

Multiple PGA Tour winner Brian Gay heads into this week's Wyndham Championship with a chance to post his best season in quite some time. Riddled by injuries and inconsistent play, Gay will look to make his deepest run in the FedEx Cup race since the 2009 season. Currently ranked in the 53rd position in the FedEx Cup standings, Gay heads into this week with positive momentum by his side. Over his last nine starts, Gay has only missed one cut while posting 5 top 25 or better finishes. Always known for accuracy over distance, Gay should play well on a track that rewards accurate golf shot. At $7,100 the combination of price and recent performance has Gay listed as the number one overall player in terms of Pt/$/K on in projections for the week. In a weaker than normal field, Gay has a great opportunity to gain some valuable FedEx Cup points this week and increase his chance of making it to the Tour Championship in less than a month.
