Eric Gordon to return to action on Saturday
Gordon looks as if he will play tomorrow for the Pelicans - good news for the team with Bryce DeJean-Jones out for an extended period of time and Tyreke Evans already out for the year. He might be limited at first but will definitely be in line for extended playing time down the road so keep an eye on his role in the rotation. His return will also likely mean a slight decrease in minutes for Norris Cole and Jrue Holiday but not enough of one to take those two out of play for DFS purposes.
Alonzo Gee confirmed as the starter for Bryce Dejean-Jones
Alonzo Gee will be starting at shooting guard tonight for the Pelicans. Bryce Dejean-Jones has been diagnosed with a fractured wrist and will be out 6-8 weeks. Gee is a low-end DFS option tonight but should see about 30 minutes tonight. The Pelicans are depleted by injuries and will ask Gee to step up. Gee will likely be under-owned tonight and should be able to hit value on his near minimum salary.
Bryce Dejean-Jones (wrist) has been ruled out for Thursday
Bryce Dejean-Jones will likely miss 6-8 weeks with a broken wrist. BDJ was not much of a fantasy option and Alonzo Gee is expected to start in his place. The last time that Dejean-Jones was injured and Gee filled in, he had four points in 33 minutes. Gee is an extremely low-end option tonight against the Thunder. Look for Toney Douglas to also get in the lineup tonight and make for an interesting punt play due to his near minimum salary.
Bryce Dejean-Jones (wrist) probable for Thursday; Omer Asik ruled out
Bryce Dejean-Jones is probable with a wrist injury but is a low-end DFS option for Thursday. Even with only six games on the slate, there are a bunch of good shooting guards to choose from outside of BDJ. Omer Asik will miss another game with his badly sprained ankle, which will likely open the door for another start from Alexis Ajinca. Ajinca was not able to exceed value last night and Ryan Anderson is a better play due to Asik's injury.
Bryce Dejean-Jones will play Sunday
Bryce Dejean-Jones will start Sunday against the Pistons despite hurting his wrist on Friday night. He isn’t a DFS option anymore. After a hot start, he has really struggled recently. Over his last four games, he is averaging just 9 FD points per game.
Bryce Dejean-Jones will be back in the starting lineup tonight; Alonzo Gee off the bench
Bryce Dejean-Jones will be returning to the starting lineup tonight after agreeing to a three-year deal. BDJ is not available on DraftKings so look to use him in the next game.
Toney Douglas projected starter with Bryce Dejean-Jones not playing tonight
The Pelicans are down to three healthy guards after Bryce Dejean-Jones' 10-day contract expired. With Pelicans Coach Alvin Gentry persistent on having Jrue Holiday come off the bench, Toney Douglas is in line to start. Douglas is a minimum salaried PG on both major sites and should be considered an elite punt option with only two games tonight. Douglas played 22 minutes last night and had eight points, two assists, two steals, and one rebound. By scoring 16.5 FD/17.25DK fantasy points last night, Douglas shows the potential to exceed value tonight with more minutes. Bryce Dejean-Jones is expected to play after the All-Star break with a contract for the rest of the season.
Tyreke Evans (knee) confirmed as out for tonight
Tyreke Evans has been confirmed as out for tonight's game against the Timberwolves. This will mark the seventh consecutive game that Evans has missed and Bryce Dejean-Jones will likely make another start in his place. The Pelicans are taking a cautious approach to Evans with Norris Cole and Jrue Holiday playing well for them at PG. BDJ is still a viable punt play but does not hold much upside on DK at a $4.5K salary. Norris Cole has a better chance of exceeding value and has scored over 33FPs in three of his last four games. Jrue Holiday will likely be under-owned due to his elevated salary but makes for a good option in a game currently projected at a 212 O/U.
Tyreke Evans (knee) ruled out for Saturday
The Pelicans have ruled out Tyreke Evans from Saturday's contest against the Cavs. Bryce Dejean-Jones will get the start in his place and makes for decent punt option. Dejean-Jones salary jumped again after his 33.75 FPs showing against the Lakers but is still a viable option under $5k.
Tyreke Evans (knee) confirmed as out for tonight, Bryce Dejean-Jones likely to start in his place
Tyreke Evans will miss another game with knee tendinitis. There is no timetable for his return and the Pelicans will likely be cautious with the trade deadline approaching. Bryce Dejean-Jones will likely be starting again in his place for the fifth consecutive game. BDJ is a low-end punt option but could surprise and exceed value against the Lakers tonight.
