Bubba Watson Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Bubba Watson returns to Torrey Pines for the first time in six years

It's not often that you see a former champion of an event like The Farmers Insurance Open not return year after year. When Bubba Watson tee's it up on Thursday it will end a six-year drought of playing in this event. At this point in his career, Watson is almost an exclusive GPP boom or bust type play for most in the DFS community. Currently trending at sub 5% ownership this former Farmers Champion could end up being a great way to get off chalky players in the same price range. Watson has both the length and creativity around the greens to play this course well. Three top tens in eight career starts at Torrey Pines is a pretty solid course history to lean on. The low projected ownership number on Watson is more of a reflection of the uncertainty surrounding his game prior to this week. With as much upside as anyone in the game, Watson makes for a strong leverage play this week.

Bubba Watson stands out as a great value play this week

Bubba Watson is one of the few players on tour that plays his own style of golf. A self-taught artist that does things his own way Watson is without a doubt one of the more fascinating players to watch in the world of golf. If you have not seen the shot he hit during last week's ZOZO Championship please do yourself a favor and google the shot, it's well worth your time. Due to somewhat poor recent form, we find Watson priced somewhat low in comparison to his actual talent level. As a past winner of this event, Watson should garnish some interest this week and he stands out as a top player in our projection model in terms of Pt/$/K. Par 5 scoring has always been a key to playing Sheshan International Golf Club. When Watson won this event ( 2014), he played the par 5's at 14 under par for the week. At his current price, Watson does not need a top-end finish for the week. A decent week of par 5 scoring and we could see Watson as the top overall play in terms of value for the last event of the Asian swing.

Weather update for The Rocket Mortgage Classic

Rotogrinders Own Cheif Meteorologist Kevin Roth has the weather report up for The Rocket Mortgage classic up in the main forum. For the most part, golfers are on track to face the same type of weather over the first two days. Friday afternoon golfers could face stronger wind gust and an isolated storm, but at this point, it's not worth fading a player from that wave. Stacking tee time waves in a GPP is a great way to get exposure to one group of players in case of a strong weather draw, but by no means is it a must this week.

Five Minutes to roster lock, no major news to report

Five minutes until roster lock and there is no major news to report. This is the first week in a long time where there has been no player movement to report. Good luck this week. ResultsDB will be up and running within 15 minutes of roster lock. Make sure to check out how your lineups stack up against the field.

Weather update for The Genesis Open

Kevin Roth's weather report for The Genesis Open is up in the main forum. According to Roth, we can expect some rain on Thursday, but due to the timing of the rain, it will be hard to really see a clear edge in terms of picking a tee time wave. If the current model holds true rain and wind should move through the area between 10 to 11 local time. If the weather turns out to be a big factor you can look to reserve a few of your GPP lineups to stack players from each side of the draw.

Five minutes to roster lock and no major news to report

As expected it's all quiet on the news front this morning. Good luck this week grinders, as always if any late news breaks we will provide the updates needed. Golf ownership numbers will be up and running within five minutes of roster lock. Make sure to check out Results DB to see how your percentages stack up vs the field.

Weather update for The RBC Canadian Open

Kevin Roth's weather report is now up in the main forum, and it looks like players could have to deal with wind and or rain over the first two days. When looking at the weather, the potential for rain when it's of the scattered thunderstorm variety has less effect on golfers than that of the wind. Even though there is a chance of the Thursday afternoon wave having to deal with rain the wind forecast for both days appears to be pretty much the same negating any true edge used by looking at the weather. As always we will keep an eye on the weather and update any news as needed before lock, but for now, it appears safe to play golfers in either tee time wave.

Bubba Watson flying under the radar

With three wins already this season, Bubba Watson is having one of the best seasons of anyone on Tour. Finally, over the disappointment of not making the Ryder CupTeam in 2016, Watson has all but stamped his ticket for this year's team, and is in a great spot to win again this week. Pricing will make it hard for people to fit in two top-end players this week, thus having most in the DFS community searching for value in top end spends. As Watson's projected ownership numbers trend under the 10% barrier, the opportunity to buy low on a very hot player becomes a great leverage play for the A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier. Watson has yet to crack the top ten at this event, but if his most recent win means anything there is little doubt that this multiple tour winner is nothing short of confident as he looks to continue this great comeback season.

Weather update for The Masters

With a very active start to the baseball season in terms of outside elements, it's nice to see a calm weather report for the first major of the year. Kevin Roth's weather report is up in the main forum and it looks like the first two days of golf will be just about perfect. Golfers lucky enough to make the cut could see a bit of rain on Saturday, but for now, there is no real edge in playing a tee time wave for the first two days. I am lucky enough to be at this year's Masters, and the course is absolutely perfect. Even with the little bit of rain received this morning, the course will still play firm and fast the first two days.

The Obvious Spot of the Week.

Here is the obvious spot of the week. Augusta National is a fantastic fit for Bubba Watson, as he has won here twice in his career. The only long-term question was his underwhelming current form, which still existed when most sites released their pricing for this week. Since then, Watson has been on a tear, and he is coming off a dominant victory at the Dell Match Play a couple weeks ago. The goofy switch to Volvik golf balls in 2017 is a thing of the past now, and Watson is in prime form for a big run at this tournament. His DFS price to odds ratio is probably the best you will find in the entire field, and it's difficult for me to advocate a fade even based on his high projected ownership. The course fit and form are too good for his current price tag, and he should feast on the par fives this week.
