Mid-season acquisition finding his game for Capitals

Carl Hagelin has 8 points (3G, 5A) in just 13 games for the Capitals which matches his total in 38 games between the Penguins and Kings earlier this season. Washington's third line of Lars Eller, Brett Connolly and Hagelin have shown strong chemistry this month. Last time out, Hagelin buried a goal and an assist against Andrei Vasilevskiy and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Hagelin does not see power play time, but at just $2,800 on DraftKings on a two game slate with Brent Burns and Alex Ovechkin, Hagelin makes a lot of sense.

Elite Upside For This Line In Fast Paced Game

Evgeni Malkin and line-mates Phil “The Thrill” Kessel, along with Carl Hagelin will host the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight. As we know both these teams play high event/fast paced hockey. When these teams met back on the 18th of October, Malkin went off for two goals and an assist. While both of Pittsburgh’s top lines are in play, along with the top six forwards on the Toronto side, I will be looking to get Malkin and company in my stacks first. The correlation between Kessel and Malkin on the top power play unit increases their ceiling. Hagelin is not a must play in this stack, however he comes at a significant discount, freeing up salary elsewhere. Fitting in power play defenseman Kris Letang is optimal if salary allows it.

The Penguins are in a great spot even on a back to back

Pittsburgh is on a back to back tonight and hosting the Montreal Canadiens who welcome back Carey Price to the starting lineup. Price was having a terrible year before his injury and I don't expect his first game back from a concussion to go any better. He currently has a 2.98 GAA and a .904 save percentage, which the Pens should be able to take advantage of. The second line is a great play with Patric Hornqvist play with Evgeni Malkin and Carl Hagelin. Hornqvist has picked up five goals in his last 10 games including firing an incredible 49 shots on goal. Averaging 4.9 shots per game is a great floor for this guy and any offense he picks up is an added bonus. He plays on the top power play with Malkin, Sidney Crosby, Phil Kessel and Kris Letang so there is elite upside for him tonight.

Power Play Dominance

If you're looking for an under the radar line stack tonight, look to Pittsburgh's second line which features Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist. Despite being held off the scoresheet in last night's game, Malkin and Hornqvist should have no problems bouncing back tonight against a depleted Montreal Canadiens team that will be without their top defensemen, top forward, and starting goalie. Also featured on the league's most lethal power play unit, Malkin and Hornqvist should also be very active on the man advantage tonight against a Montreal penalty kill that ranks 28th in the NHL this season and has surrendered ten power play goals over their last 7 games. In a game Pittsburgh should dominate from start to finish, expect a big game from Malkin and Hornqvist where their steep price tags could lower their ownership in tournaments.

Tale of two seasons for speedy Penguin winger

After tallying just 14 points in 50 games before the All-Star break, Carl 'Fast' Hagelin has come alive with 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) in 19 games after the All-Star Break. Hagelin has meshed well with Evgeni Malkin who is one of the front-runners for the Hart Trophy as his fantastic campaign continues. Hagelin has manhandled his former team this season, posting two goals and an assist with 10 shots on goal in just three games against the Rangers. While Hagelin is not an option on the power play, his speed could cause chaos for a slow-footed Ranger team. Hagelin is just $4,000 on FanDuel and $4,300 on DraftKings and a cheap way to gain exposure to Malkin at even-strength. Look for Carl to stick it to his old team once again.

Pay Up For This Power Play Combo

If you're looking to get exposure to the Penguins without completely fading them in a great matchup, look to their second line which features Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel. With a combined 27 points over their last 10 games, this line should have no problems creating scoring chances against a weak Ottawa defense that has allowed the most shot attempts and scoring chances among road teams on tonight's slate. Also featured on one of the league's most lethal power play units, Malkin and Kessel should also be very active on the man advantage tonight against an Ottawa penalty kill that ranks 28th in the NHL this season and has surrendered four power play goals in as many games. In a game Pittsburgh should dominate from start to finish, expect a big game from Malkin and Kessel where their steep price tags could lower their ownership in tournaments.
