Charl Schwartzel Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Charl Schwartzel looks to bounce back from poor recent play
Former Masters Champion Charl Schwartzel enters this week's Corales Championship as one of the more recognizable names in the field. Having missed two straight cuts prior to this event, it appears that Schwartzel will garnish low ownership despite his past success in golf. Currently projected under 5% ownership, Schwartzel is the type of player worth having exposure to in GPP's this week. Faced with the same scenario earlier in the year, Schwartzel bounced back from consecutive missed cuts to post a sixth-place finish at The Puerto Rico Open. Falling out of the top 80 in the official world rankings for the first time since the 2007 season, a player of Schwartzel's caliber is playing in this event for a reason. Motivated to play his way back into form, the combination of talent and low ownership makes the addition of Schwartzel to your roster builds is a great way to create leverage in GPP's for the week.
Fifteen minutes to roster lock and no major news to report
With a little over fifteen minutes until the roster lock, it’s quiet on the news front. Outside of Talor Gooch and Charl Schwartzel withdrawing earlier in the week, there has been no player movement to report. Weather looks to be pretty much perfect for the week, so there is no need to stack a tee time wave in order to gain an advantage. ResultsDB will be up and running within 10 minutes of roster lock. Make sure to check out how your lineups stack up against the field.
Charl Schwartzel is no longer in the field
Charl Schwartzel has decided to take a pass on this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational. At this time there is no injury news associated with this move. Scott Brown will take his place in the field, and is currently not available in terms of DFS pricing.
Charl Schwartzel flying under the radar
Almost seven years removed from his greatest triumph in golf, former Masters winner Charl Schwartzel is a very talented golfer flying under the radar for this week's WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Currently ranked inside the top 50 in the world, Schwartzel enters this week looking to improve on a very good course history at Firestone country club. With 5 top 25's including two top 10's in his nine starts at this event, Schwartzel offers more than enough upside to pay off his $7,200 price tag on DraftKings this week. The guaranteed four rounds of golf in this no-cut event makes it a bit easier to mix boom or bust type plays into your GPP mix, and Schwartzel at low ownership could end up being one of the great values on the week.
Charl Schwartzel flying under the radar for The FedEx St. Jude Classic
The large number of early week withdrawals from this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic is starting to have an effect on projected ownership numbers. With a few big names in the mid-tier pricing range no longer available, many in the DFS community are gravitating towards a few select players. One player that is not gaining ownership numbers in this price range is Charl Schwartzel. Heading into this week with a missed cut at The Memorial, the general public does not have a ton of trust in this past major champion. As we have seen the past few weeks with players like Justin Rose and Hideki Matsuyama, international players who appear to be off on their game can be had for a discount in terms of talent. While Schwartzel is arguably not in the same class as the above-mentioned players, he does have the game and talent worth roster consideration this week. Schwartzel is a great ball striker and if his second-place finish at the 2017 FedEx means anything, then we can expect that he likes what he sees in terms of course setup at TPC Southwind. Currently projected to be in the sub 7% ownership range, Schwartzel offers players a chance to create a strong leverage pivot off other popular players in his price range. In what has been a boom or bust season for Schwartzel, we are hopeful that he comes into this week with the form that saw back to back top ten finishes prior to The Memorial.
PGA rosters lock in 15 minutes, and no major news to report
Outside of the already reported withdrawal of Charl Schwartzel its all quiet on the news front this morning. Weather should be warm with very little wind this week, creating a good scoring environment for the field. Rosters lock in fifteen minutes, but for now, there is no news to report. Good luck this week grinders, as always if any late news breaks we will provide the updates needed. coming soon.
Charl Schwartzel is no longer in the field
In somewhat of a surprising move, Charl Schwartzel withdrew from the Fort Worth Invitational late on Monday. Fresh of a string of great finishes there is no news of injury associated with his withdrawal. David Hearn will replace Schwartzel in the field, but will not be available in DFS pricing pools.
Charl Scwhartzel could get over looked this week
We are to the point of the season where top-ranked players who divide their time between the European and PGA Tours begin to make their 2018 debuts. With the multiple WGC events over the next few weeks, players like Charl Schwartzel make their way over to American soil in order to prepare for the big events that lie ahead. With so many big named players in the field, it's easy for very talented players like Schwartzel to fly a bit under the radar. Currently ranked 44th in the world, Schwartzel has built his career up through steady play on both tours. Known as a great ball striker, and a streaky putter, this former Masters Champion has a decent track record at Riviera. With a 4 for 5 cut record including two five or better finishes, Schwartzel is a player worth getting roster consideration this week. With all of the fanfare and ownership congregating around Thomas Pieters, Schwartzel makes for an interesting pivot at a much lower ownership.
Charl Schwartzel emerges a source of value
Part time foreign born tour players typically get over looked in terms of both ownership and price. That being said It’s very odd to see a top 25 ranked player in the world priced as low as Schwartzel. As a proven winner on many different continents and tours, Schwartzel has the game to compete and win on any given week. While concerns of an early season wrist injury linger, Schwartzel still has the capability to more than out perform his price. Currently ranked 52 in the FedEx Cup standings, this former Masters Champion still needs a few solid weeks in order to participate in the Tour Championship. The discount on Schwartzel makes him an excellent GPP flyer for the Northern Trust.
Charl Schwartzel set to return from wrist injury
Charl Schwartzel was forced to withdraw from the Byron Nelson due to the effects of a lingering wrist injury. The South African had the unfortunate experience of having a pro-am partner hit an errant tee shot that ricocheted off a tree hitting him in the wrist. Schwartzel sat out last week's Dean & Deluca to rest the injured wrist. With his status for this week still up in the air, Schwartzel took to social media to report his intent to play this week. He posted a picture of his wrist with a bag of ice on it, and claimed that he is doing better and that he is looking forward to this special week. In nine attempts at Memorial, Schwartzel has a very impressive five top 25 or better finishes. Reasonably priced across the industry, Schwartzel could make for a very low owned GPP flyer. The threat of a nagging wrist injury could keep his ownership levels down, and this past major winner still offers a ton of upside. We will continue to monitor his injury status up until roster lock.
