For anyone who has stacked the Red Sox this year, or even kept an eye on the leader boards, they are probably aware of Travis Shaw. The Red Sox third baseman who beat out Pablo Sandoval has had a quality start to the year, exhibiting a massive wRC+ versus right-handed pitchers of 205. Today, Shaw will face a RHP in Chris Devenski. Additionally, Bradley Jr. will hope to build on his incredible wRC+ of 318 over the last 7 days, good for best in the MLB among qualified hitters.

Christopher Devenski has struck out 10 of 47 batters with a double digit SwStr% through two starts after moving from the bullpen to the rotation. He now has a 23.2 K% through 24.2 innings, while walking just five batters. Given his cheap price tag ($6.5K on DraftKings - $6.4K on FanDuel), Devenski makes for a very interesting SP play this evening. The Indians will now be sitting Michael Brantley, which only increases Devenski’s appeal tonight. Jason Kipnis (.350 wOBA – 128 wRC+ vs RHP in 2016) and Carlos Santana (.395 wOBA - .300 ISO – 161 wRC+ vs RHP in 2016) both make for solid targets if your looking to attack Devenski

Devenski will make his second start of the season tonight against the Mariners. In his previous start, he allowed 2 ER in 5 IP with 3 BB and 4 SO. While his minor league numbers suggest that he can miss some bats, he isn’t likely to pitch deep into games. But with his cheap price tag ($4.7K on DK) he may be worth a flier in GPP’s. According to Dan Farnsworth of Fangraphs: “He has a very outside chance of working into a number-five starter role, but the rest of his arsenal likely won’t give him enough to work with going through a lineup multiple times.”

With a Vegas projected run total of 4.16, the Mariners lineup features a few bats that could be targeted this evening. Robinson Cano (.492 wOBA - .418 ISO vs RHP this season) is off to a scorching hot start and is one of the top 2B plays of the night. Nelson Cruz (.231 ISO vs RHP) has power upside, and makes for a solid GPP play. Finally, Kyle Seager (.346 wOBA – 124 wRC+ vs RHP) serves as an appealing 3B option that may be slightly under owned in tournaments given his matchup.

C. Devenski is the rooke de-jour of the weekend. His numbers in 2015 are respectable, showing more weakness versus righties than versus lefties. His OPS allowed vs AA competition in 2015 was 0.835 against righties, compared to 0.517 against left-handed batters. This does not mean that left-handed bats should be ruled out on Saturday, but emphasizes the viability of right-handed batters like Khris Davis, who finished 2015 with a higher ISO (0.271) against RHP compared to vs LHP.
