Clayton Keller Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Take a chance on this under the radar forward in the desert

Clayton Keller is featured here every once in a while as he has a lot of talent. His price tag on DraftKings ($4,400) really stands out on a slate so top heavy (Nikita Kucherov, Patrice Bergeron, etc.). Clayton Keller is riding a three game point streak for an Arizona team that has won six of their last seven contests. Meanwhile, the visitors, have dropped six consecutive games allowing 30 goals in the process. Arizona is not known for their offense, but they are playing well and Keller is a fantastic one-off in cash games and tournaments as he seems likely to extend his point streak to four games.

Desert Dogs On a Roll

If you believe in momentum then you have to like the Arizona Coyotes this evening. There, I said it…the Arizona Coyotes. I am already on record today as liking Nikita Kucherov and John Tavares and I could very well go with Vladimir Tarasenko or Patrice Bergeron to round things out but that won’t help you as there is no way you can fit all of those guys into your line-up. The Coyotes have somehow won their last five games and have gone 8-2 over that stretch. This effort has the team just one measly point away from making the playoffs. It also helps that the team is on home ice against a Detroit team that has given up a league leading 42 goals over the last 10 games. This means that the Coyotes have the last line change and with Galchenyuk and his 15 goals and 21 assists in 54 games now skating on the top line with Clayton Keller, both players could be in for a big game here. Galchenyuk is tied for the team lead with six points over the last seven games whole cranking up a team leading 25 shots on goal over that time frame.

Disappointing season for team leader in points

With scoring up across the league, it is rather disappointing to see Clayton Keller check in at just 39 points (12G, 27A) in 62 games. However, he is still a talented player, and the Coyotes have a favorable situational spot tonight against Florida who was in a grinder of a game last night at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. In the Coyotes' last contest, Keller ended a long goal-scoring drought as he picked up his 12th goal of the season. Keller checks in at an affordable $4,500 on DraftKings which gives him appeal in all formats, though the preference would be as a one-off in tournaments. Tonight is a great time to buy-low on the Coyotes' team leader in points.

No goal in more than a month for youngster

Clayton Keller has 29 points (8G, 21A) in 40 games, but he is in the midst of a massive goal drought at the moment. Accordingly, his price has seen a dip. Overall, Arizona's offense has been one of the worst, but a matchup with a New Jersey team allowing 3.95 goals per game on the road is attackable. Even though he hasn't scored a goal since December 1st, December was productive for Keller as he collected 14 points in 15 games. He is a fine option in all formats.

Overlooked Arizona winger in a favorable spot

The Boston Bruins are not necessarily a team we aim to target against, but it is a tough spot for them after an overtime loss in Dallas last night. Complicating matters for Boston is Patrice Bergeron picked up an injury, and his status for tonight is up in the air. The Bruins have been ravaged by injuries on the blue line as well, and they are basically throwing a bunch of minor leaguers out there aside from Torey Krug. Keller is priced appropriately on FanDuel at $6,000, but on DraftKings he is just $4,500 where he makes an interesting solo play in tournaments given his skill set. It's a tough spot for Boston, so Keller, who had 65 points (25G, 38A) in 82 games last season, could take advantage of a Boston team that has just three wins in 10 road games.

This player leads his team in goals and points.

A road game against the Philadelphia Flyers isn't typically ideal, but the Arizona Coyotes have been a surprise team in the possession game, sitting ninth in the NHL with a 52.01 CF%. The top line is comprised of Clayton Keller, Alex Galchenyuk and Lawson Crouse, with Galchenyuk and Keller remaining together on the top power play unit. This makes the two of them a fantastic mini-stack. The Flyers will be rolling out Calvin Pickard between the pipes and his numbers haven't been great this season. Despite being 3-1-1, he has a 3.94 goals against average and .876 save percentage. The Coyotes should have plenty of scoring opportunities against a goalie that is struggling to keep the puck out of the net.

This team has quietly put up high-end possession numbers.

The Arizona Coyotes have quietly put up high-end possession numbers with a 51.01 CF% which is ninth-best in the NHL. They are home to the Philadelphia Flyers tonight, a team with a dead-even 50.0 CF%, but struggling goaltending. The Flyers are allowing 3.86 goals against per game which is the third-worst in the NHL. While Arizona isn't scoring much — just 2.83 goals per game which ranks 25th — they've scored 24 goals in the 5 games since Alex Galchenyuk has returned to the lineup. This recent scoring boom makes Galchenyuk and his linemates Clayton Keller and Richard Panik interesting plays tonight.

This off-season acquisition has a point-per-game since returning from injury.

In his four games since returning from injury, Alex Galchenyuk has put up one goal and four points while firing off nine shots. He's centering the top line with Clayton Keller and Richard Panik on his wings. The Arizona Coyotes have been one of the better possession teams in the NHL this season. They have an impressive 53.08 CF% which is the eighth-best in the league. Galchenyuk and Keller remain together on the top power play unit so if you feel like leaving Panik off your line stack, the mini-stack of Galch/Keller has full-game correlation.

Arizona has been a top 5 possession team this season.

This will likely come as a surprise to you, but the Arizona Coyotes are fifth in the NHL with a 53.14 CF%. Tonight they'll take on an Ottawa Senators team that has the second-worst CF% at 41.76. The Coyotes have struggled to score this season averaging just 2.50 goals per game, but on the other side once again the Senators have struggled allowing 3.90 goals against per game. With the Coyotes on home ice, I like their chances to come out on top here and the top line of Clayton Keller, Alex Galchenyuk and Richard Panik is in a great spot. Panik doesn't get any power play time, but Keller and Galchenyuk are on the top unit together so a two-man mini-stack is in play.

This Coyote is in a great spot against a depleted defense

Clayton Keller burst onto the scene last season with 65 points (23 goals, 42 assists) in 82 games, and while Arizona's offense is nothing to write home about, Keller is a consistent producer. The 20 year old has three goals and two assists in eight contests this season and will likely add to that total tonight against a Vancouver team playing on consecutive nights. Additionally, Vancouver lost their top defensive pairing last night as Alexander Edler and Chris Tanev exited last night's contest, as did Sven Baertschi. Look for Keller to howl as the Canucks will be skating backwards all night long.
