Cody Core Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Sterling Shepard (Concussion) Out Week 2

Shepard picked up the concussion during the Week 1 game but still played nearly every snap. He hasn't been able to progress through the concussion protocol this week and will miss Week 2. The Giants are already missing Golden Tate to suspension and Darius Slayton to injury. With Cody Latimer questionable (calf), Bennie Fowler and Russell Shepard will likely be the top targets for the Giants.

Tyler Boyd ruled out for Week 9, Cody Core will play

Boyd hasn't played since Week 5 and he hasn't posted more than 15 receiving yards in any game this season. Core will add some depth at receiver, but the Bengals will continue to focus on A.J. Green and Brandon LaFell as their top two wideouts. Rookie John Ross is expected to eventually man the WR3 role but he's only logged 11 snaps all season, earning just six in his first game back last week while picking up only one target. They visit the Jaguars on Sunday, whose defense is first in pass DVOA and has limited receivers to the fewest PPR points.

John Ross and CB Adam Jones practiced again Thursday; Tyler Boyd and Cody Core didn't participate

Ross has been a full participant for two days straight and Jones was upgraded to full this afternoon. Both are on track to suit up this weekend against the Colts. Ross has only played five snaps this season, so it's hard to know what to expect from him - the rookie could be eased into action over the first few games upon returning. Undoubtedly, quarterback Andy Dalton will continue to pepper A.J. Green with targets. He's currently commanding a 30.2% market share of the team's targets and he's third in the league with 2.63 yards per route run. He'll primarily battle Rashaan Melvin this weekend if the Colts top CB plays. He was inactive last weekend with a concussion and QB Blake Bortles ripped Indy's secondary for 330 yards on 26 attempts while he was sidelined. Melvin is PFF's 12th-ranked cover corner while fellow outside CB, Vontae Davis, is 99th. If Jones returns, he could make things more difficult for Moncrief and Hilton on the outside - if he had enough snaps to qualify, he would be fifth in the league with 0.44 yards per cover snap.
