Connor Hellebuyck Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Back to back strong performances from St. Louis goalie

Jake Allen is too expensive on DraftKings ($8,200), but on FanDuel where he is just $7,700, there is some merit to him in tournaments. Allen has strung together two strong starts, making 18 stops on 19 shots in Chicago and following it up with 32 saves on 33 shots in Vegas. A matchup with a Los Angeles team averaging the fewest goals per game (2.00) is one to take advantage of. While Allen is not likely to face many shots, he has a solid chance of picking up the win as prior to putting three past Pekka Rinne, the Kings had posted the following goal totals: 1, 1, 0, 1. Allen makes for a low-owned tournament play who could hit a respectable 20-25 fantasy points tonight even on an off night.

For FanDuel cash games, stick to Connor Hellebuyck, the biggest favorite of the night, who is wrongly priced at just $8,100.

Goalie Hopes to Return to Form at Home

It's been a mixed start for Connor Hellebuyck through two starts this year, both on the road. He was solid in the season opener against the Blues, but then was blitzed by the Stars and allowed five goals. He has a much more favorable matchup this evening against the Kings, who should be average offensively this season. Hellebuyck was tremendous all season last year, but was even better at home with a 30-5-2 record and 2.31 GAA. I think hes the safest goalie on the slate this evening.

Top Goalie Tonight

The Winnipeg Jets are still fighting the Nashville Predators for first place in Central Division, and fighting both the Predators and the Vegas Golden Knights for the number one seed in the Western Conference, so this is a very important game for Winnipeg, and it is one I think they dominate from puck drop. The Jets also happen to be the biggest favorite on the board this evening as they face a Calgary Flames team that has been decimated by injuries. Despite the watered down lineup, the Flames actually lead the National Hockey League in shots per game (35.5) since the All-Star break, yet they are dead last in goals per game (2.35), which is the perfect scenario tonight for Connor Hellebuyck. The Jets goaltender is not only a lock for the win, he should also see plenty of rubber tonight at the Bell MTS Place, putting him at the top of my goalie list in all formats.

Low-Risk High-Reward Goalie

On a night where goaltending is razor thin, with few great options to target, minimizing risk will likely be a sound strategy, even in tournaments. With a 28-5-2 record which includes four shutouts on home ice this season, Connor Hellebuyck makes for a solid option in net. A matchup against a potent Calgary team may seem risky, but the Flames will be without their top two playmakers for tonight's game and rank dead last in scoring since the beginning of March despite regularly outshooting their opponents during that span. Further improving Hellebuyck's outlook tonight is the fact that Winnipeg has been one of the league's best defensive on home ice this season and have allowed the fewest scoring chances on tonight's slate. In a game in which Winnipeg holds a decisive edge in special teams and scoring depth, look for Hellebuyck to easily pay dividends with the plethora of shots expected to be thrown his way.

This elite goaltender is in a tough home matchup

The Winnipeg Jets are hosting the Nashville Predators tonights and that is certainly a difficult matchup. Hellebuyck stumbled in February but has returned to his Vezina caliber play as of late. In March, Hellebuyck has put up an elite 2.02 goals against average and a .939 save percentage. Nashville is arguably the best team in the league, but the Jets are no slouch either. The Preds are on the tail-end of a back to back which is always something worth targeting for your goaltender. Over their last 10 games, the Jets have allowed just a 53.43 CA/60 which is the fifth best in the NHL. The Jets are not big favourites at all, but Hellebuyck is the best goalie on the slate and sometimes taking the best goalie in a tough matchup is the best play.

No Supernova from Stars Offense of Late

The Stars may boast some serious firepower on their first line, but away from the top trio, Dallas has not had a dominant offense. They are playing their fifth game in eight nights and the offense has not really showed up on this road trip, with the team scoring 12 goals over its past five games -- a number buoyed by a five goal outburst in Toronto. The Jets have the tools and the personnel to slow the top line, especially with Jacob Trouba back in the fold. On home ice, the Jets have the second lowest per-hour rates of scoring chances and high-danger shot attempts allowed, as well as the fourth lowest CA/60. Hellebuyck has been fantastic this year, posting an all-situation save percentage of .925 with six shutouts and 36 wins. He should be in line for another solid outing tonight.

Target This Goalie's Potential Shot Volume

On a night where goaltending is razor thin, with few great options to target, minimizing risk will likely be a sound strategy, even in tournaments. With a 23-5-2 record which includes a solid .921 SV% on home ice this season, Connor Hellebuyck makes for a great option in net. A matchup against a potent Blackhawks team may seem risky, but Chicago has struggled to find the back of the net on the road this season.

Top Goalie Tonight

If you are playing cash games tonight, Connor Hellebuyck should be at the top of your list as the Winnipeg Jets play host to a Los Angeles Kings team playing their second game in as many nights, and their third game in four nights. The Jets are the biggest favorite on the board tonight, and the Kings have the second lowest projected goal total, which certainly makes sense considering how well the Jets have played at the Bell MTS place this season (best home record in the National Hockey League, going 23-5-2), along with goaltender Hellebuyck (2.11 GAA, .928 SV%). The 24-year-old netminder may not be the highest scoring goalie on the night, but he is the safest, and he should still see at least 25 shots this evening, which makes him top option in cash games.

Don't Get Cute With Goaltender Selection Tonight

On a night where goaltending is razor thin, with few great options to target, minimizing risk will likely be a sound strategy, even in tournaments. With a 22-3-2 record which includes a solid .928 SV% on home ice this season, Connor Hellebuyck makes for a solid option in net. A matchup against a strong Kings team may seem risky, but they will be playing on tired legs following last night's win over Chicago. Further improving Hellebuyck's outlook tonight is the fact that Winnipeg has been one of the league's best defensive on home ice this season and have allowed the fewest scoring chances on tonight's slate. In a game that should play tight, with few goals exchanged between both teams, look for Hellebuyck to easily pay off his manageable salary in a very winnable game for the Jets.

The largest Vegas favourite makes for a great goalie play today

While playing the largest Vegas favourite in night likely means you're playing the chalk, sometimes they are simply the best play. Today, Connor Hellebuyck seems to be that play. The Winnipeg Jets are hosting the Florida Panthers, who are on the tail-end of a back to back in which they played a late game in Calgary last night. They'll likely be tired and a rested Jets team can take advantage. Hellebuyck has been one of the best goalies in the NHL this season and with Andrei Vasilevskiy's struggles as of late, may be emerging as the Vezina Trophy favourite. He has a 2.34 goals against average, a .923 save percentage and five shutouts. His numbers at home have been even better and his record is ridiculous. He has a 21-3-2 record with a 2.12 goals against average and a .928 save percentage on home ice making him an elite play today.
