There may be plenty of cheap firepower Minnesota @ Chicago game
While there aren't really many incredibly expensive arms tonight, the game in Coors likely dictates players are still going to need to save money somewhere. Players can probably consider Ezequiel Carrera a top punt option, batting second for the Blue Jays against Chase De Jong for exactly $2.7K on either site. De Jong has just a 10 K% and 50% fly ball rate through two starts. Ryan Rua is a league average bat against LHP that bats further down in the lineup, but in one of the more run friendly environments in Texas and at a cost of $3K on DraftKings, $2.5K on FanDuel. Chris Coghlan is another average bat against RHP, who is even cheaper ($2.5K on DK, $2K on FD). Matt Davidson (139 wRC+, .361 ISO vs RHP) bats sixth against Phil Hughes (RHBs .355 wOBA since 2015) for just $2.6K on FanDuel. The punt catcher may be Chris Gimenez tonight. He faces Derek Holland (RHBs .340 wOBA since 2015) for less than $3K on either site and has done the most with his opportunities against southpaws since 2015 (129 wRC+, .244 ISO). He can be paired with teammate Jorge Polanco (117 wRC+, .179 ISO vs LHP since 2015) for just a bit more on either site ($3.2 DK, $2.8 FD) at another difficult position. Matt Szczur (77 wRC+, .162 ISO vs LHP since 2015) bats second against Martin Perez (RHBs .339 wOBA since 2015) for just $2.3K on FanDuel. Conor Gillaspie (84 wRC+, .154 ISO vs RHP since last season) could be a min-priced bat or close to it in the middle of the San Francisco lineup against Bronson Arroyo. If Andrew Romine (77 wRC+ vs RHP since last season) leads off again against JC Ramirez, he's not very good, but costs just $2.1K on DraftKings.
Bryce Harper projects as tonight's top bat ahead of Coors hitters via RotoGrinders Player Projections
There is a game scheduled for Coors tonight. Bryce Harper (169 wRC+, .289 ISO vs RHP since 2015) is not playing in it, but he is still the top bat via the RotoGrinders Player Projections tonight. Perhaps, he may as well be in Colorado, priced above $5K against Ubaldo Jimenez (LHBs .380 wOBA since 2015). While it's very rare to see a non-Coors batter atop the projections on a Coors slate, we very quickly come back to reality with Kris Bryant (162 wRC+, .294 ISO vs LHP career) in the second spot. These two are projected are projected far and away as the top bats tonight, ahead of two Rockies' bats (Arenado and Blackmon) just before Jose Altuve. The issue is that all of these bats are very expensive. The projections also see Derek Dietrich (124 wRC+, .177 ISO vs RHP since 2015) as the top value on FanDuel ($2.2K). He moves up to fifth in tonight's lineup against Adam Wainwright (LHBs .369 wOBA since 2015). DraftKings projections see Conor Gillaspie ($2.4K against Zack Wheeler) and a pair of A's (Matt Joyce $2.5K & Yonder Alonso $2.9K) as top point per dollar plays against Alex Meyer (LHBs .398 wOBA career). Joyce has a 117 wRC+ and .206 ISO vs RHP since last season and Alonso has spiked his fly ball rate (50%) and has five HRs over the last week.
Giants implied run total has been holding steady at 3.6 runs before crucial Game 4 matcup
John Lackey has had a good season overall, boasting a 3.35 ERA that is accompanied by a 3.83 SIERA and 24.1% strikeout rate. Lackey also brings a ton of postseason experience to the table in this matchup. In 23 career playoff appearances, he has a 3.11 ERA with a strikeout rate of 18.8%. If aiming to fade Clayton Kershaw (which is not recommended), Lackey is the clear best pivot option. During the regular season, he did struggle significantly more with left-handed batters, allowing a .303 wOBA and 34.1% hard contact rate. Though, he has kept the ball on the ground much more frequently with 46.0% ground ball rate to lefties. The Giants do draw a fairly difficult matchup against Lackey, but it’s certainly more favorable than last night’s matchup against Jake Arrieta, meaning it is viable to target some Giants' lefties in this spot. Brandon Belt (136 wRC+, .370 wOBA, .193 ISO vs RHP), Brandon Crawford (.180 ISO vs RHP), and Connor Gillaspie (.183 ISO vs RHP) are the best individual options to consider outside of a full stack.
Angel Pagan scratched from Giants lineup
Pagan has been scratched from San Francisco's lineup Monday night due to back spasms. Gregor Blanco will replace him in left field and bat eighth. Conor Gillaspie also gets the bump up to the five-hole in the Giants order.
Eduardo Nunez scratched, replaced by Conor Gillaspie
Eduardo Nunez scratched, replaced by Conor Gillaspie, who will bat eighth. Although facing one of the worst pitchers on the board, this is a move with little daily fantasy impact so low in the batting order.
