Cory Schneider Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
It is always a great spot when taking on a team that cannot produce offence
The New Jersey Devils are on a tail-end of a back to back and playing on the road in Montreal to take on the Canadiens. This is rarely a spot you want to use a goaltender in. However, The Habs have been horrific and generating offence producing just a 50.25 CF/60 over their last 10 games which is dead last in the NHL. Cory Schneider has struggled this season so much so that his coach basically said playing Keith Kinkaid gives their team a better chance to win, but this seems to be a solid matchup to try and turn things around. He's pretty cheap and has the chance to put up big numbers against a team that can't score.
Top Goalie Tonight?
The New Jersey Devils are a massive favorite on home ice tonight as they face a Buffalo Sabres team that has struggled offensively all year long. The Sabres are dead last in goals per game (2.16) this season in the National Hockey League and they have been even worse in December, averaging just 2.08 goals per contest. So clearly, this is not an offense to fear. Cory Schneider on the other hand, well, he has been brilliant of late (1.98 GAA, .933 SV%), and I expect another strong performance tonight. Schneider should cruise to an easy victory and there is definitely shutout potential here as well.
This goaltender is taking on the most offensively-challenged team in the NHL
The Buffalo Sabres cannot score at all. They are dead last in the NHL averaging an embarrassing 2.16 goals per game. They rank 19th in the NHL averaging 30.95 shots per game, which encouraging because Cory Schneider should at least get a decent volume of shots. Schneider has been awesome on the season and even more impressive recently. Over his last 10 games, he has an 8-1-1 record with a 1.98 goals against average and a .933 save percentage. The high-flying New Jersey Devils should be able to win this game easily and Schneider should dominate.
This goalie has tournament winning upside at reduced ownership
Now, this is obviously a tournament play. Tonight, the Edmonton Oilers are going to be the chalkiest chalk to ever chalk. So what is the best way to leverage this in tournaments? That would be to use the opposing goaltender. Cory Schneider has been playing solid this season with a 2.84 goals against average and .921 save percentage. Not world-beating numbers, but if the Oilers continue to struggle in the scoring department with their league-worst 5.8 shooting percentage, than Schneider could put up a big score with very low ownership (for a two game slate).
