Daniel Berger Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Less than ten minutes to roster lock for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM

Typically speaking Pro-Am events have almost no movement in terms of field updates. This week however had more than its fair share, and due to both the timing and the status of players involved it could be an impactful week in terms of roster adjustment. With two of the bigger names in this week's field out ( Berger & Zalatoris) there is a lot of late-week shake-up in terms of POWN. Please double-check your lineups to make sure you have removed any lineups with the above-mentioned players. Good this week grinders, ResultsDB powered by Fantasy Labs will be up and running a few minutes after lock.

Daniel Berger is no longer in the field

Due to a back injury, Daniel Berger will not play in this week's Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Berger will be replaced by Kevin Stadler. Berger's absence from this field could end up being a big shake-up in terms of roster construction for the week. Jordan Spieth is the closest pivot in terms of a price-down option. One would imagine that many of the early week Will Zalatoris rosters made the switch to Berger once the news of him having to miss due to Covid. This is a big piece of news that we hardly ever get this late in the week so there should be some POWN shakeup prior to our next update.

Daniel Berger is no longer in the field

Last week's winner Daniel Berger has decided to take a pass on this week's Genisis Invitational. There will not be a replacement for Berger and the field, for now, sits at 120 players. Berger's win last week probably factored into skipping an event where he has lacked much in terms of previous success.

He's Finally Won me Over

I’ve been under-weight on Berger far too many times since the restart. It’s time to right my wrongs. I’ve long viewed him as more of a bermudagrass specialist, but that’s no longer the case. He posted three top 10 finishes before COVID forced the long break and has since made eight of nine cuts with a win and three more top three finishes. He’s played well on tough tracks and in birdie-fests and he’s played well on all grass types. On top of that, he doesn’t have a weakness in his game. He’s ranked in the top 17 in this field in strokes gained off the tee and strokes gained on approach. We know he has one of the best short games on tour and he rates out number one in this field in my hole yardage statistic. He offers a high floor/ceiling combination, he’s appropriately priced, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be extremely popular.

Time for a Resurgence from the Berger-Meister

There was a time when Berger, Thomas, Finau, and Spieth were all similar prospects when they first made it on tour. Spieth had the amazing start, while Thomas and Finau are the best of the bunch at the moment. Berger had two nice wins, but ultimately struggled after sustaining a wrist injury. It appears he’s finally over it, as he posted three straight top 10 finishes before the break. He even got off to a nice start at THE PLAYERS Championship before it was cancelled. This course plays similar to the one in Memphis he won at twice, so hopefully he can keep the momentum rolling.

Daniel Berger stands out as a great source of value

After struggling with injuries most of the 2019 season Daniel Berger enters this week playing some outstanding golf. Back and healthy again there is a strong argument to be made that price expectations have not caught up to the current form of Berger's game. With three straight top ten or better finishes, this former PGA Tour rookie heads into this week with a ton of momentum. Priced-down in this very strong field, Berger stands out as one of the stronger value plays for the week. Playing in his sixth Players Championship Berger is 4 for 5 in cuts made with one career top 10.

Daniel Berger looks to build on solid start to the 2020 season

With a nagging wrist injury finally, in the rearview mirror, Daniel Berger enters this week with a bit of momentum on his side. Berger enters this week having made 3 straight cuts highlighted by 12 consecutive rounds of 70 or better. Underpriced in comparison to his recent form, Berger is a player worth taking a look at as a strong value play this week. With three top 11 or better finishes in five career starts at The WMPO Berger has a little bit of course history in his corner this week. Prior to his injury Berger was regarded as one of the better young players in the game. A solid start to this season gives us hope that Berger is on the fast track to greater things in the future.

Positive Trends Everywhere

The trends are aligning in the right direction. I have written up Berger in this space each of the last two weeks, and that’s not going to change in a weak field event after Berger has posted back-to-back top 25 finishes to start the fall swing. He gained four strokes off the tee in Vegas and appears to be playing with more confidence than we have seen with him in quite some time. Oh, and he’s also played in Houston four times — posting top 25 finishes in all four of his previous trips. Everything is coming up roses! I think that the high price tag combined with rising ownership will keep some people away, and don’t be surprised if Berger ends up being lower owned than a lot of experts think. I’m going to very much be overweight this week, and I’m rooting for him to take home a victory.

Last Chance To Get The Discount

I am now fully buying the fact that Berger is healthy. I talked about him on our “Drive For Show” video last week as one of my favorite contrarian plays, and that thought process will continue this week. The price tag has not increased over where it was a week ago, and Berger is saying all the right things in the media. He fired a Saturday 66 to get in the mix in Napa last week before settling to a 23rd place finish. With the rust gone and the confidence rising, he should be able to revert to 2017-2018 form. Put aside last year’s statistics and buy low while you still can.

Daniel Berger set to make his season debut

Playing through injury the ups and downs associated with a hand injury, Daniel Berger enters this week looking to put a less than stellar 2019 season behind him. Priced-down due to his poor form for the last 12 months, Berger is a golfer you can comfortable target as a value play with a high ceiling. When healthy this two time PGA Tour winner has proven to be a top-level talent on tour, and with over a year removed from his hand injury, Berger should be in a spot to play the type of golf that we have come to expect. With four straight made cuts including at top 15 at the 3M challenge, Berger was able to finish his 2019 season on a positive note. With what finally appears to be a healthy hand, Berger will play in his 3rd Safeway Open this week and if he can perform anywhere near to his pre-injury style of golf this former PGA Tour rookie of the year should end up being one of the better value options for the week.
