Darren Collison Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Best Source of Salary Relief Despite a Poor Game 1

With Victor Oladipo off of the court this season, Collison got 1.00 fantasy points per minute. So even though he (and every other Pacer) played terribly in Game 1, these price tags are just too cheap for what should be 30+ minutes. The price on FD ($5,000) plummeted a full thousand dollars from what it was before Game 1. The Pacers have been too well-coached and too mentally tough this season to come out with another performance like they did in Game 1. I expect a big game from Collison, and his salary relief is very necessary on this slate.

Darren Collison is expected to play

With Collison now in and Evans now out, and especially with a short rotation for the Pacers, Collison is squarely in play as a high usage ball handler that should see a good amount of minutes against one of the softer defenses in the NBA. Collison will also likely not be on the radar of most DFS players after having missed a number games due to injury, so this is an opportunity to get him at lower than normal ownership.

Darren Collison has been ruled out

This was expected, as Collison has been out for a few games and was doubtful going into today. You can take a cursory look at Cory Joseph or Tyreke Evans in place of Collison, but prices have mainly adjusted for the Pacers current rotation so there's not a ton of value to extract here, especially going up against a tough defense like Boston.

Darren Collison has been ruled out

Both Darren Collison and Wesley Matthews will miss tonight's game vs the Pistons, which should lead to an abundance of opportunity for Cory Joseph and possibly Tyreke Evans. We can also expect Myles Turner and Thad Young to pick up some extra involvement in the starting lineup with the ball dominant Collison off the court.

Darren Collison (quad) will start Wednesday

Collison has officially been upgraded from questionable and will start in Wednesday's matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder after missing three consecutive games due to a bruised right quad. There's yet to be any reports of a potential minute restriction for Collison, so he'll presumably reclaim his customary starting point guard role from Cory Joseph, who was relatively ineffective from a fantasy perspective in an average of 24.1 minutes as a starter over the last three contests. On the other hand, Tyreke Evans saw a decent uptick in playing time during this stretch, and he managed to log at least 29 minutes off the bench in two of the games with Collison sidelined. Ever since Wesley Matthews made his Pacers debut and joined the starting lineup, Bogdan Bogdanovic has surprisingly led the team with a 27.0% usage rate and is averaging 1.02 DraftKings and 0.98 FanDuel points per minute in a 567.5 minutes sample size during this span.

Darren Collison (quad) out Sunday

Collison has officially been downgraded from questionable and won't play in Sunday's matchup against the Denver Nuggets due to a right quad contusion that has now forced him to miss three consecutive games. In his absence, Cory Joseph will receive the starting nod at point guard once again, but he has been relatively underwhelming from a fantasy perspective in an average of 24.3 minutes in his two most recent starts. Considering the diminished role Tyreke Evans has had since the NBA trade deadline and All-Star break prior to Collison's injury, it should be expected for Aaron Holiday to remain in the rotation following a stretch of three consecutive DNP-CDs and absorb a substantial portion of the available backup point guard minutes in the second unit. Somewhat surprisingly, Domantas Sabonis has been the largest beneficiary with Collison off the court over the past 17 games, as he owns a 26.6% usage rate and is averaging 1.38 DraftKings and 1.33 FanDuel points per minute in a 199.9 minutes sample size.

Darren Collison (thigh) out Thursday

Collison has officially been downgraded from questionable and won't play in Thursday’s matchup against the Golden State Warriors due to a right quad contusion that has now forced him to miss two consecutive games. In his absence, Cory Joseph will receive the starting nod at point guard once again, and he was relatively underwhelming from a fantasy perspective in just 20 minutes of action in Tuesday's loss. Considering the diminished role Tyreke Evans has had in the rotation since the NBA trade deadline and All-Star break, it should be expected for Aaron Holiday to remain in the rotation following a stretch if three consecutive DNP-CDs and absorb a substantial portion of the available backup point guard minutes in the second unit. Somewhat surprisingly, Domantas Sabonis has been the largest beneficiary with Collison off the court the past 16 games, as he owns a 27.6% usage rate and is averaging 1.42 DraftKings and 1.37 FanDuel points per minute in a 177.4 minutes sample size.

Darren Collison (quad) officially out Tuesday

Collison has officially been downgraded from doubtful and won't play in Tuesday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers due to a right quad contusion that limited him to just 27 minutes in Monday’s loss. In his absence, Cory Joseph will receive the starting nod at point guard, and he’s settled into a consistent bench role in the low-20s in terms of minutes ever since Victor Oladipo was lost for the season with a ruptured right quad tendon. Considering the diminished role Tyreke Evans has had in the rotation since the NBA trade deadline and All-Star break, it should be expected for Aaron Holiday to join the rotation following three consecutive DNP-CDs and absorb a large portion of the available backup point guard minutes in the second unit. Somewhat surprisingly, Domantas Sabonis has been the largest beneficiary with Collison off the court the past 15 games, as he owns a 29.0% usage rate (+2.6%) and is averaging 1.41 DraftKings and 1.36 FanDuel points per minute in a 149.5 minutes sample size.

Darren Collison (quad) listed as doubtful Tuesday

Collison has been listed as doubtful on the most recent version of the Pacers' injury report for Tuesday's matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers due to a right quad contusion that limited him to just 27 minutes in Monday's loss. In his likely absence, Cory Joseph should receive the starting nod at point guard, and he's settled into a consistent bench role in the low-20s in terms of minutes ever since Victor Oladipo was lost for the season with a ruptured right quad tendon.

Myles Turner (shoulder), Darren Collison (leg), and Cory Joseph (thigh) available to play Tuesday

Turner has officially been upgraded from questionable and will be available to play in Tuesday's matchup against the Phoenix Suns after missing four consecutive games due to a sore right shoulder, while Darren Collison and Cory Joseph are also available despite dealing with their respective ailments. There's been no word if Turner will be subject to a minute restriction in his first game back, but given the nature of the injury, he'll likely be a full-go and was in the midst of probably one of the better stretches of his career from a fantasy perspective prior to his absence. With Turner returning to starting lineup this evening, Domantas Sabonis will more than likely head back to the bench to resume a reserve role after averaging 31 minutes in his four latest starts at center, though he's consistently been a solid source of fantasy value no matter if he's starting or coming off the bench this season.
