Devin Funchess Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Colts WR Devin Funchess (Collarbone) to Remain Sidelined for the Rest of the 2019 Season
Colts WR Devin Funchess (Collarbone) to Remain Sidelined for the Rest of the 2019 Season
Devin Funchess Will Not Return This Week
Funchess will remain on IR for at least one more week, ruling him out for the Colts' game Sunday. He has not played since Week 1 and his season could be over.
Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (Quadricep) and RB Marlon Mack (Calf) are Game-Time Decisions, Optimism Both Will Play
Hilton has been questionable on a frequent basis throughout his career recently, so it was always likely he would take the field vs. the Falcons. The speedster dominates his team in air yards and targets, and we all know he tends to excel at home in the dome. Projected for a 25% targets share against a Falcons defense that ranks 9th in pass DVOA, Hilton makes for a fine GPP play today.
On the other side of the coin, Mack is a fine play in all formats and is one of the top point-per-dollar options on the main slate. The Falcons are 30th in run DVOA through two games, and the Colts have one of the best offensive lines in the league. Mack isn't very involved in the passing game, but has seen 45 carries and 72% of the snaps in 2019. His ownership could also be suppressed due to reports he was seen with a walking boot earlier this week (holding a walking boot, not wearing one). Fire up Mack in a fantastic matchup if he is active.
Devin Funchess (Clavicle) Headed to IR, Could Return
Devin Funchess underwent surgery for his injured clavicle on Monday and was placed on IR. However, the injury is not season ending and Funchess could return later this season. Until then, Parris Campbell and Deon Cain should gain more targets. T.Y. Hilton remains the top option in the offense, but the loss of Funchess will probably allow the opposing defenses to focus even more on Hilton.
Devin Funchess (Broken Collarbone) to Miss Significant Time
Devin Funchess suffered a broken collarbone Week 1, leaving little depth at WR behind T.Y. Hilton. Funchess received the second most targets (5) and finished with 3 catches and 32 yards. The only other WR's to receive targets were Deon Cain (2) and Parris Campbell (1). Instead, the Colts leaned heavily on the run game and passing to their TE's and RB's. Expect Marlon Mack to continue carrying a heavy load.
Devin Funchess (Back) Full Practice Participant
Devin Funchess was able to complete a full practice Thursday, putting him on track to play Week 1. If healthy, he will be a starter working with QB Jacoby Brissett. Like all the Colt WR's, the Luck retirement has dampened the expectations for Funchess. Brissett has shown some flashes but it will be hard to count on any of his receiving targets until he proves that he has improved.
Devin Funchess is a healthy inactive in season finale
With nothing left to play for this season Devin Funchess won't suit up Sunday against the Saints. The absence of Funchess creates an opportunity for D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel to make an impact in this depleted Panthers offense. The bad news for both Moore and Samuel is that they will have to depend on third-string QB Kyle Allen to carry the offense. Overall this sets up to be a very bad spot for a Panthers offense as they have one of the lower implied point totals on the slate. With volume likely to be on his side Samuel could make for an intriguing tournament pivot off other wide receivers in the same price range.
Devin Funchess expected to play in a limited fashion on Sunday
The Panthers wide receiving core will get an extra body this week as Devin Funchess is on track to play for the first in the last three weeks. The team announced that Funchess will be eased back into the rotation, so we can expect to see him play a limited amount of snap vs the Bucs today. DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel have played well in Funchess and all three players have an excellent matchup vs this very weak Tampa defense this week.
WRs Devin Funchess and Curtis Samuel are expected to play Sunday
Samuel is good to go after being removed from the injury report while Funchess is officially listed as questionable, though Head Coach Ron Rivera indicated that the Panthers WR1 was much closer to probable after recovering from a back injury this week. The entire Panthers receiving corps is set up very well against one of the league's worst passing defenses and attached to a 29-point implied team total. However, Samuel could be the odd man out as he's failed to see significant snaps in every game Funchess has played this season.
Devin Funchess (back) limited in practice Thursday, Curtis Samuel (hamstring) practices in full for the Panthers
Devin Funchess (back) was limited in practice Thursday, while Curtis Samuel (hamstring) practiced in full for the Panthers. Funchess's return to practice bodes well for his potential for suiting up this weekend, as he was unable to practice Tuesday or Wednesday due to the back ailment that kept him out of action Week 12. He appears to still truly be questionable for this weekend, although a player ramping up their practice participation heading into the weekend is always a good sign. Samuel appears to be good to go for Week 13 as well after practicing in full today. All Panthers pass-catchers find themselves in an excellent matchup this weekend against an exploitable Tampa Bay secondary, and make for interesting GPP targets in a game with a lot of shootout potential.
