Dillon Overton Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Batters from both sides have a wOBA above .490 with 9 HRs in four starts
Dillon Overton has a 10.3 SwStr%, but has a 38.2 Hard% with just a 9.2 Soft% and 55.3% fly ball rate. He has just two more strikeouts (11) than HRs allowed (9). It's not the most hitter friendly park, but Chicago batters could punish him tonight. Batters from both sides have a wOBA above .490 against him. The issue is mostly in cost, with the top four all at least $4K on FD and $4.3K on DK, but they all have a wRC+ just above 140 vs LHP since last season. Rizzo and Bryant add an ISO above .200. Javier Baez (168 wRC+, .206 ISO vs LHP since 2015) costs just $2.7K on FanDuel.
Dillon Overtun has more HRs allowed (five) than strikeouts (four) in 46 major league batters faced
Dillon Overtun has allowed more HRs (five) than he has strikeouts (four) through his first 46 major league batters. He only has 160 minor league innings with average peripherals in the minors above single A the last two seasons. Of his 37 batted balls in the majors this year, only eight have been on the ground and 40.5% have been hard hit. This reinforces why the Astros would be projected for more than four and half runs in tough park in Oakland. The top four are a great stack tonight that may not be highly owned with many highly projected offenses on the slate in better parks. Altuve (171 wRC+, .213 ISO) and Springer (152 wRC+, .283 ISO) have both pounded LHP this season, while Marwin Gonzalez (120 wRC+, .198 ISO vs RHP since last season) and Carlos Correa (113 wRC+, .199 ISO vs LHP career) both cost less than $4K on either site.
Dillon Overton had a 3.9% K-BB% in his first MLB start
We don't have a lot of information to go on with Overton (5.60 SIERA) with him only making one career MLB start. Based on his peripherals and minor league statistics, he looks to be an average major league LHP. This is enough for us to target some Giants righty bats in tournaments, including the lefty-swinging, Brandon Belt (153 wRC+, .390 wOBA, .259 ISO vs LHP). We can also look to Buster Posey (147 wRC+, .382 wOBA, .184 ISO vs LHP) as great catcher pivot in tournaments. Mac Williamson (122 wRC+, .345 wOBA, 231 ISO vs LHP) is also a great outfield punt option getting the bump up to sixth in the batting order. Perhaps even Angel Pagan is an option batting in the two-hole for the Giants tonight.
Stack bats and play...Dillon Overton?
Dillon Overton is a minor league call-up who has performed well in AAA, posting an ERA of 1.40 over his last 7 starts, allowing zero home runs over that same span. He will face an Angels team that is about league average against LHP, possessing a wRC+ of 100 against LHP. Overton’s 7.7 SO/9 in the minors is impressive, and Overton will try and translate his skillset to the pros tonight against the average hitting Angels bats. A worry with any minor league pitcher is that the manager of the big league club will keep the youngster on a pitch count, so there is more than one element of risk in playing Overton tonight. Still, he has good stuff and the Angels are more than capable of having a quiet night. He remains a viable long shot pitching option that will allow extreme flexibility with various stacking options.
