Dion Lewis Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Devonta Freeman ruled out for Monday night

Devonta Freeman has been ruled out for Monday night, setting Wayne Gallman up to be the lead back for the Giants this week. The Giants are significant underdogs, which typically creates a bad game script for a RB, although Gallman is helped by being fairly active in the passing game. He caught all 5 of his targets last week, although they totaled just 20 yards. Dion Lewis should work as the second RB, with Elijhaa Penny and Alfred Morris also options to get snaps.

Adam Humphries (Ankle) Does Not Practice; Dion Lewis (Shoulder) Limited Wednesday

Humphries and Lewis both had the same designations Wednesday as they did Tuesday. Humphries is on track to miss another game barring a sudden and significant improvement.

Cody Hollister (Ankle), Dion Lewis (Shoulder) Limited Tuesday

Hollister and Lewis were limited in practice Tuesday. Both appear on track to play Saturday for the Titans.

Derrick Henry (Hamstring), Corey Davis (Ankle), Dion Lewis (Ankle) Practice Fully, Will Play Sunday

The Titans will have Henry, Davis and Lewis all available Sunday. Henry is expected to be an elite RB option as usual.

Derrick Henry (Hamstring) Does Not Practice; Dion Lewis (Ankle) Limited Thursday

Henry did not practice Thursday after being limited Wednesday. Considering the star RB played last week without any practice, he is still expected to play this week. Dion Lewis was a new addition to the injury report, as he was a limited participant Thursday with an ankle injury.

Titans RB Derrick Henry (Hamstring) Will Play Vs. the Texans

As expected, Henry will suit up in a pivotal division matchup vs. the Texans today. The bruising running back has scored at least 25 fantasy points in his last five games, and now he gets a matchup against a middling Texans' rush defense in a game with the highest total on the main slate. Due to Henry's rising price across the industry, he is likely too expensive for cash games but is a fine tournament play because of his immense upside.

Lewis Remains RB1

The Titans are coming off a stomping of the New England Patriots where the chalky Dion Lewis underwhelmed with a 20 carry, two catch performance where he only tallied 68 total yards. The important thing to note is that the workload was still there for Lewis who out-snapped Derrick Henry 49-to-15. Henry did score twice on his 11 carries but Lewis remains RB1 in Tennessee and he’s still way too cheap for his expected volume. He’s a core play on DraftKings where he gains more value as a receiver and is a strong play on FanDuel as well.

Too Cheap for New Role

Lewis has all but taken over the Titans backfield as Tennessee slowly kills off Derrick Henry who has only been on the field for 38-of-141 offensive snaps for the Titans their last two games. Lewis' involvement as a pass catcher gives him a solid floor to work with and increased involvement running the ball provides him with a high ceiling as well. Lewis remains too cheap for his new role.

Positive Trends

This is a fine spot to give Dion Lewis a look in GPP formats. His price tag is still very cheap on pretty much every site, and he is fresh off a game where he played on a season high 84% of the snaps on Monday against the Cowboys. That's a great sign going forward, especially since the Titans were AHEAD for much of that game. He totaled 122 scrimmage yards in that game, with 60+ yards both rushing and receiving. We know he's going to be on the field when the Titans are trailing (which they should be in this one), and Lewis has the revenge narrative against his former team. The stars are aligning!

Secure Workload, Reasonable Price

If you're looking to take advantage of price at running back this week, consider taking Dion Lewis, who has taken over as the lead back for the Patriots. One of the most elusive running backs in the NFL, Lewis draws a sneaky good matchup against a Jets defense that has struggled away from home this season; entering week 17 averaging 124 rushing yards per game on the road. Targeting New England running backs can often become a fool's errand most weeks, but with Burkhead and Gillislee inactive, Lewis should have no problems paying off his very attractive price in a game New England needs to win to secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
