Dorial Green-Beckham Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Jordan Matthews INACTIVE Sunday
The last time Matthews missed a game, tight end Zach Ertz led the team with 15 targets, while Dorial Green-Beckham received ten, and rookie Paul Turner had eight. Those numbers are a bit inflated as Carson Wentz threw 60 passes in that game, well above his 37.6 average. Since Matthews returned, DGB has disappeared - he's averaged 2.5 targets the past two games - and Paul Turner, who's starting today, was inactive for Weeks 15 and 16. Nelson Agholor actually led the team in receiving yards against the Giants last game and caught Wentz's lone touchdown ball. It will be tough to predict how Wentz distributes his passes among the wide receivers this week since they've all been pretty ineffective this season. The safest bet on the Eagles is Zach Ertz, who should be Wentz's favorite target. At full strength, Dallas ranks 30th in TE DVOA and they may rest some of their defensive starters. Ertz projects as a top 5 tight end in Week 17.
Report: Jordan Matthews "more to the doubtful side" for Sunday
ESPN's Adam Caplan reports Matthews was "very limited" at Friday's practice and it doesn't appear like he'll suit up tomorrow when the Eagles take on the Cowboys. The last time Matthews missed a game, tight end Zach Ertz led the team with 15 targets, while Dorial Green-Beckham received ten, and rookie Paul Turner had eight. Dorial Green-Beckham and Jordan Matthews will play Sunday
Green-Beckham (abdomen) will make his return from a one-game absence against the Ravens Sunday. Baltimore's best corner, Jimmy Smith, has been ruled out, which works in Green-Beckham's favor. As we saw with Odell Beckham and Dez Bryant, The Ravens struggle to defend outside receivers when Smith isn't on the field. DGB isn't as talented as those other two, but he could do some damage as a sneaky wide receiver option today. Over his last three games, he's averaged 9.3 targets per game. His return will take some volume from Matthews (ankle) and Zach Ertz. However, Matthews has hit double-digit targets in five of his last six games, only failing to do so against the Packers when he shuffled in and out of the game with an injury. With Matthews out two weeks ago and DGB out last week, Zach Ertz averaged 14 targets over the past two games. Now that both receivers are set to play, his expected volume will take a bigger dip than Matthews. He's also in a tough spot as Baltimore ranks 3rd in TE DVOA. Carson Wentz should primarily target Matthews and Green-Beckham today.
Ravens CB Jimmy Smith doesn't practice Wednesday
Smith went down in the first quarter against the Patriots and Tom Brady proceeded to throw for 406 yards and three touchdowns, including a 79-yard bomb to outside receiver Chris Hogan. We've seen this happen to the Ravens before when Smith is out of the lineup, most notably when Odell Beckham racked up over 200 yards and two scores; their pass defense tends to fall apart without him. The Ravens host the Eagles Sunday for a battle of the birds. Philly has an implied total of just 17.5 points as their offense has struggled lately and their backfield is banged up. When Smith is absent it tends to favor outside receivers and Philly's number one receiver, Jordan Matthews, lines up in the slot 73% of the time. Dorial Green-Beckham (oblique) would be a potential tournament target to take advantage of a Smith-less Ravens team, but he was inactive last week and is questionable for Week 15. It's definitely a situation to monitor this week. If both Smith and Green-Beckham are out, Jordan Matthews and Zach Ertz would be interesting contrarian targets.
Dorial Green-Beckham inactive; Jordan Matthews and Ryan Mathews active Sunday, as expected
Expect Jordan Matthews to pick up a ton of targets today out of the slot. Fortunately, he'll avoid Josh Norman most of the day, which should help with his efficiency. Ryan Mathews isn't a great option in his first game back since spraining his MCL. Wendell Smallwood is expected to be the lead back for the Eagles.
Ryan Mathews and Jordan Matthews expected to play Sunday
Mathews (knee) isn't expected to be the feature back today, according to Adam Schefter. He expects Wendell Smallwood to lead the way and Darren Sproles to pick up some work. With a committee and hard-to-predict workloads, it's a backfield to avoid. Jordan Matthews (ankle) is all set to play and should receive a ton of passes with Dorial Green-Beckham not expected to suit up. Philadelphia's offense has struggled recently but have a nice matchup with Washington's poor defense that ranks 20th in pass DVOA and 30th against the rush. Matthews will avoid Josh Norman's coverage in the slot, instead lining up across from Kendall Fuller, who has a poor 50.6 PFF grade. Based on expected volume, Matthews is a nice target today; in terms of points-per-dollar, he projects as our WR4 on FanDuel.
Dorial Green-Beckham misses practice; appears unlikely to play this weekend
It's looking unlikely that Dorial Green-Beckham will play this week as he missed yet another practice today. Nelson Agholor should receive more targets but the bulk of the passing game should be headed in Jordan Matthews and Zach Ertz's direction.
Dorial Green-Beckham (abdomen) doesn't practice again Thursday
DGB appears to be doubtful for Sunday. He won't be a great fantasy option if he plays with Jordan Matthews, who had a full practice, will be back in the lineup. Matthews has a favorable matchup with Washington cornerback Kendall Fuller, who has a poor 50.6 PFF grade this season. Prior to their Week 12 game, when he wad forced out early, Matthews had received double-digit targets four weeks in a row. Expect a similar volume this weekend, especially if DGB is out; there simply aren't many alternative options for Carson Wentz to throw to.
Jordan Matthews and Ryan Mathews will practice today; expected to play this weekend
The starting RB and WR #1 for the Eagles will practice today and Head Coach Doug Pederson expects both to play this weekend. Jordan is certainly in play facing a suspect Redskins pass defense. Ryan, however, is much riskier and will likely split the workload with Darren Sproles and Wendell Smallwood. Dorial Green-Beckham missed practice and his status for this weekend is uncertain - with Matthews back in the fold, however, he wouldn't have been a viable option anyway.
Jordan Matthews (ankle) not expected to play Sunday
Matthews suffered the injury on Monday night against the Packers, causing him to shuffle in and out of the game. Philadelphia believes it's serious enough to keep him out of today's game with the Bengals. Nelson Agholor will be active after being a healthy scratch last week. He should see an uptick in targets, but he isn't a trustworthy fantasy option. Dorial Green-Beckham will be their primary receiver and he should lead the team in targets along with Zach Ertz. Green-Beckham caught 6-of-10 targets against Green bay for 82 yards. He had eight targets and a touchdown the week prior. He's a solid option today against Cincinnati's 17th-ranked pass defense.
