Drew Doughty Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Kings are Underpriced Despite Struggles
The Los Angeles Kings are a bad hockey team, there is no denying that. But that doesn't mean there can't be value from a DFS perspective. Jeff Carter is my favorite of the bunch. He is only $3,900 on DraftKings, but is seeing about 20 minutes a game, including all the time he can handle on the power play. His linemates (Tyler Toffoli and Kyle Clifford) aren't great real-life players, but they are near minimum price and make for a dirt cheap stack. Drew Doughty is also fairly priced given his extensive workload and ability to score fantasy points through blocked shots and shots on goal.
This defenseman could go overlooked tonight
Even though it is a very short slate, Drew Doughty could go overlooked as many focus on Roman Josi and P.K. Subban on the high-end of defensemen. He is always a great option as he produces across the board. In 58 games this season, he has 41 points, 153 shots and 86 blocks. The Los Angeles Kings are on the road, heading to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks. Chicago is not the team they used to be and have struggled defensively this season, especially with their make-shift goaltending since Corey Crawford went down. Tonight it is expected that Anton Forsberg will be in net and his 2.95 goals against average and .908 save percentage isn't scaring anybody. Doughty makes for a great play as he produces a high-floor and high-ceiling which makes worth paying up for him.
Vancouver's recent penalty-kill struggles give a big boost to this former Norris Trophy winner
Drew Doughty showed off some of his offensive skills by scoring a goal and dishing out an assists against the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night and now owns two goals and seven assists over his last ten games. Doughty 27:03 of ice-time per game sits second in the entire NHL (behind only Ryan Suter) and sees a heavy workload from the point of the KIng's top power-play unit. That, coupled by Vancouver's dreadful 73.3% penalty kill during the month of December, make him a top-tier option in all formats this evening.
Gettin' Muzzy Wit It - Pt. II
Jake Muzzin was recommended last night, and he did not disappoint. Jake stretched his point streak to three consecutive games. Muzzin has 12 shots on goal to go along with five blocked shots in four games for the Los Angeles Kings this season. The Kings are always a tough team on home ice, and they draw a nice matchup against an Islander team that has struggled on the road and is also playing on back-to-back nights. The Kings' depth from the blueline, namely Drew Doughty and Alec Martinez, can limit Jake's upside, but his price (FanDuel - $4,600, DraftKings - $4,400 and FantasyDraft - $9,000) is attackable in all formats.
This defenseman has high-upside against bottom-feeding team
The Buffalo Sabres are once again at the bottom of the NHL. They are one of only two teams that has yet to pick up a win so far this season. They have allowed 18 goals in just four games as both goaltenders have been struggling. On the other hand, they also cannot score - averaging just 2.25 goals per game. Tonight, they are in Los Angeles taking on the Kings. They have been grinding their wins as usual, playing in low-scoring games and letting their defensive play and goaltending shine through. Drew Doughty only has one point through his first three games, but he has taken 11 shots and has eight blocked shots to add to his floor. A player with the floor Doughty has as well as the offensive upside makes for a great tournament play as he is unlikely to kill your team if he doesn't get on the scoresheet, and can really put up numbers if he does.
