Ed Dickson Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Seahawks Place Ed Dickson (Knee) on IR, Sign Tyrone Swoopes

Dickson was active for two days before being placed back on the injured reserve. His season is over, and the Seahawks activated TE Tyrone Swoopes. Jacob Hollister will remain the top option at TE for the Seahawks.

Ed Dickson Expected to be Placed Back on IR

Dickson is expected to be placed back on IR by the Seahawks, just one day after activating him. There is reportedly concern about his injury, and a return to the IR would end his season.

Seahawks Activate Ed Dickson

The Seahawks have activated TE Ed Dickson from the injured reserve. It isn't clear what role is available for him given how well Jacob Hollister has played the past two weeks, catching 12 passes for 99 yards and 3 TDs.

Ed Dickson Not Activated, Out for Monday Night

Dickson was not activated Monday, delaying his season debut for at least one more week. The Seahawks will continue to lean on Jacob Hollister and Luke Willson at TE.

Greg Olsen isn't expected to play Week 13

Olsen re-aggravated his foot injury last week against the Jets and the team wants to be cautious with him. His absence will give Ed Dickson another go as the TE1. He hasn't topped 36 yards over the past six games and the Saints are allowing the ninth-fewest PPR points to TEs this season. It doesn't look like a great spot for Dickson.

Christian McCaffrey and Greg Olsen questionable for Week 13

McCaffrey sets up as an intriguing GPP target, especially if Saints CB Marshon Lattimore plays, which could swing targets from Devin Funchess to the back. The Saints struggle to stop receiving RBs; they’re giving up the ninth-most receptions and sixth-most receiving yards to the position. Last time McCaffrey played the Saints, he went off for 101 receiving yards on nine catches. He’s also logged the sixth-most targets inside the ten-yard line (7). While he’s priced up for the matchup, he has plenty of upside to pay it off and we’re projecting just 7.5% ownership on DraftKings. Olsen returned to practice today and appears to headed for a game-time decision. If he plays, he'll likely be limited as he re-aggravated his foot injury last weekend. If he sits, it would be a boost for Ed Dickson. The tight end could also benefit from Lattimore shadowing Funchess. New Orleans has been pretty solid against tight ends though, allowing the ninth-fewest PPR points to the position.

Ed Dickson, LB Luke Kuechly, S Kurt Coleman, and K Graham Gano active for Week 8; C Ryan Kalil inactive

Kalil suffered a setback during Week 7's game and he'll be sidelined this weekend. His replacement, Tyler Larsen has struggled in pass protection this season, allowing the second-most pressures among centers (16, per PFF) and he’s been charged with the most sacks (3). Dickson will suit up, as expected. Since his huge game against the Lions in Week 5, when he capitalized on broken coverage a couple times on his way to 175 yards, the tight end hasn't topped 36 yards. He's remained involved in the passing game though, averaging 6.5 targets over his last two outings. While the Buccaneers, his Week 8 opponent, aren't considered efficient against tight ends by DVOA (23rd, per FO), they've only allowed 3.67 receptions per game to the position, the sixth-lowest rate in the league. Coleman is will make his return after a three-game absence. He could help bolster their already-strong rushing defense; in 2016, he was eighth among safeties with a 5.2% run-stop rate and he was fifth when lined up within eight yards of the line of scrimmage (7.9%, per PFF). On top of that, they're going to get Kuechly, PFF's sixth-ranked LB, on the field. Even without Kuechly and Coleman against the Bears in Week 7, they held Jordan Howard to 65 rushing yards on 21 attempts. As a team, they're fifth in rush DVOA while their line ranks eighth in adjusted line yards (3.78). Not surprisingly, they've given up the seventh-fewest PPR points to RBs this season. Doug Martin, who recorded a season-high 22 touches last week, will have his work cut out for him against this group.

Ed Dickson, S Kurt Coleman, LB Luke Kuechly, and K Graham Gano questionable for Week 8; C Ryan Kalil ruled out

Kalil suffered a setback during Week 7's game and it looks like he'll be sidelined this weekend. His replacement, Tyler Larsen has struggled in pass protection this season, allowing the second-most pressures among centers (16, per PFF) and he’s been charged with the most sacks (3). Dickson is fully expected to play this weekend. After his huge game against the Lions in Week 5, when he capitalized on broken coverage a couple times on his way to 175 yards, the tight end hasn't topped 36 yards. He's remained involved in the passing game though, averaging 6.5 targets over his last two outings. On top of that, they're going to get Kuechly, PFF's sixth-ranked LB, on the field, barring a setback. Ed Dickson returned to practice Thursday, C Ryan Kalil didn't participate

Kalil suffered a setback during Week 7's game and it looks like he'll be sidelined this weekend. His replacement, Tyler Larsen has struggled in pass protection this season, allowing the second-most pressures among centers (16, per PFF) and he’s been charged with the most sacks (3). Dickson wasn't at practice yesterday but he should be all set for this weekend. After his huge game against the Lions in Week 5, when he capitalized on broken coverage a couple times on his way to 175 yards, the tight end hasn't topped 36 yards. He's remained involved in the passing game though, averaging 6.5 targets over his last two outings. Greg Olsen (foot) placed on IR

This move was expected after it was announced he would need surgery to repair his broken foot. He'll be eligible to return in eight weeks, which coincides with the tight end's expected recovery timetable. The injury should elevate blocking tight end Ed Dickson into a pass-catching role. Dickson tallied 55 snaps in Week 2 and ran a route on 67.5% of their passing plays, per PFF. He caught two of his three targets for 26 yards. Now in his eighth season, Dickson has only exceeded 43 targets once in his career. It came back in 2011 with the Ravens when he posted a 54/528/5 line on 89 looks. For what it's worth, he's asked offensive coordinator Mike Shula to keep the playbook the same and let him try to fill the Olsen role. He'll have a great opportunity to prove himself this week against the Saints. A safer bet would be an uptick in targets for Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess. The former posted a 6/77/0 line on eight looks against the Bills in Week 2 but the latter out-snapped him for the second week in a row (57 to 43). Benjamin should still command a larger market share and he offers more upside; he currently ranks 14th in yards per route run among wide receivers with at least 25% of their team's targets (2.22), per PFF. Based on how the Vikings and Patriots receivers have feasted on New Orleans this season, Benjamin will be a strong (and popular) fantasy target in all formats while Funchess is an interesting GPP option. Running back Christian McCaffrey is another player set to benefit from Olsen's absence. He's run the fifth-most routes among all running backs this season and the Saints just allowed James White, Rex Burkhead, and Dion Lewis to combine for a 12/137/1 receiving line.
