Eddie Royal placed on IR
Royal missed the last three games due to a toe injury and now his season is officially over. Chicago will finish the season with Alshon Jeffery, Cameron Meredith, Deonte Thompson, and Josh Bellamy at wide receiver. Both Meredith and Thompson exceeded 100 yards in Week 15. Jeffery posted a 6/89/1 line on nine targets. While Barkley is certainly turnover-prone, he's thrown for over 300 yards in two of his four starts this season. Next week they have a favorable matchup with Washington and their 22nd ranked pass defense.
Marquess Wilson and Eddie Royal are INACTIVE Sunday
Cameron Meredith and Josh Bellamy are the top two receivers for Chicago today. With Matt Barkley throwing to them, they aren't going to be great options, especially against a pass defense that's been playing well. Surprisingly, Detroit has allowed the third-fewest FanDuel points per game to wide receivers over the past four weeks. Chicago has the lowest implied total on the board at 17 points. Outside of Jordan Howard, who should have a huge workload today, it's an offense to avoid.
Marquess Wilson (groin) limited, Eddie Royal (toe) did not participate Thursday
It doesn't look like Royal this play this weekend, but Wilson has a shot after getting in a limited practice Thursday. Matt Barkley's Bears have an implied team total of 18 points. Outside of Jordan Howard there aren't many appealing fantasy options; even if Wilson plays, he won't be a good target.
Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson didn't practice Wednesday
Royal (toe) didn't play last week and seems to be on the doubtful side in Week 14. Wilson (groin) left their last game in the first half and never returned. If they miss this week, Cameron Meredith and Josh Bellamy would be the primary receivers. With Matt Barkley under center, expect the Bears to feed Howard relentlessly. Detroit's DST is in play this weekend; they've forced six interceptions over their last three games and allowed only 15.0 points per game in that stretch. Chicago has an implied team total of just 18 points, the second lowest on the board.
Eddie Royal inactive for Bears Sunday
Royal (toe) wasn't expected to play after missing practice all week. He was a non-factor last week, only getting one target. Marquess Wilson led the Bears with 11, following by Deonte Thompson and Cameron Meredith with nine each. Those three will be the primary receiving options again today, but running back Jordan Howard is probably the best fantasy play on Chicago. They face the 49ers today, who have the league's worst rush defense. San Francisco has allowed a startling 171.8 rushing yards per game this season. In this matchup, with Matt Barkley under center, it would make sense for the Bears to give Howard all the work he can handle. The game has a one point spread (49ers favored), so it should stay competitive, which helps Howard from a game flow perspective.
Eddie Royal questionable for Bears; looks unlikely to play
Eddie Royal is listed as questionable by the Bears to play this Sunday but local beat reporters feel it is unlikely to play. He's a blip on the DFS radar, however, as Matt Barkley has clearly locked onto Marquess Wilson and Cameron Meredith as his primary options.
Eddie Royal does not practice for Bears on Wednesday
Probably just a rest day for the veteran Bears WR who has been battling a toe injury for quite some time now. He should be fine to face the 49ers this weekend.
Eddie Royal (toe) active Sunday
Despite missing practice all week, he'll suit up against the Titans today. Even though he'll be the number two receiver behind Cameron Meredith, he isn't a good fantasy play as Matt Barkley will be throwing to him. Barkley will struggle to complete passes and move the football, which leaves Royal in a terrible spot.
Eddie Royal questionable for Sunday
Royal didn't practice all week and seems to be closer to doubtful than questionable. Even if he plays, he won't be a great fantasy option as he'll have Matt Barkley throwing to him. If he doesn't, Cameron Meredith will get all the work he can handle, but will still have trouble being effective with Barkley under center.
Both Eddie Royal and Jeremy Langford miss practice Wednesday
Royal (toe) and Langford (illness) we're not able to get on the practice field today. Royal has been dealing with a toe injury for weeks, but has played the last two games. Without Alshon Jeffery or Zach Miller in the lineup, Royal should see a solid uptick in targets. He'll likely have Matt Barkley throwing to him though, so it'll be a challenge for him to be effective with his opportunities. Langford has been relatively quiet since returning to the lineup, averaging 7.5 touches per game over the pas two weeks. We're expecting them both to play in Week 12.
