Myles Gaskin placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, out this week
Myles Gaskin has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, ruling him out this week or longer. DeAndre Washington should step in and get the most work at RB, assuming he is active after missing last week with a hamstring injury. Patrick Laird should work behind him, while newly called up Elijah McGuire is the third back. The Dolphins were without Gaskin in Week 12, and Washington led the team with 13 carries. Matt Breida, already out for this week, got the second most carries for the Dolphins. This situation is setting up fairly nicely for DeAndre Washington.
Dontrell Hilliard (Concussion) Out Monday Night
Hilliard is out Monday night as he continues to recover from a concussion. His role is mainly in returns, although he did vulture a TD last week on his only carry. That makes Nick Chubb, Elijah McGuire and D'Ernest Johnson slightly better plays.
RB Elijah McGuire will play Saturday while RB Trenton Cannon is questionable
With Crowell already ruled out for Saturday, McGuire will take over lead back duties and now potentially a bell-cow role if Cannon joins Crowell on the sidlelines with a toe injury. At close to the minimum across sites, McGuire should be considered in both scenarios, however expectations should still be tempered as the Jets are projected for less than 18 points on Saturday against a respectable Texans defensive front.

Eli McGuire would be in line for lead back duties in Week 15 but he is also questionable with an ankle injury. If McGuire joins Crowell on the sidelines, expect Trenton Cannon to soak up most or possibly all of the backfield snaps at essentially the minimum price across sites. Robby Anderson should easily lead the team in targets with Enunwa out and his matchup against a Texans secondary isn't imposing. However, expectations should still be tempered as the Jets are projected for less than 18 points on Saturday.

Crowell appears questionable at best for Saturday night's game against the Texans after being sidelined for most of Week 14's contest. RB Elijah McGuire will again take over lead duties if Crowell remains sidelined with Trenton Cannon mixing in. The Jets have an implied team total of less than 18 points however, so the offense is not set up well per usual.

Cheap RB seeing increased touches
Elijah McGuire has taken on a more prominent role in the Jets backfield since coming off of IR three weeks ago, and this week he benefits from taking on a middle-of-the-pack Patriots rush defense that ranks 17th in yards-per-attempt allowed and 16th in rushing yards-per-game allowed. McGuire drew six rushing attempts and six targets in the Jets last game, giving him more touches than more expensive backfield teammate Isaiah Crowell, and McGuire is somewhat gamescript-independent given his passing game involvement.
The Back-From-Injured-Reserve Special
The Jets have activated Running Back Elijah McGuire from Injured Reserve, and he could see playing time right away against the Dolphins this week with the Jets hurting at the RB position. McGuire showed potential last season with 315 rushing yards and 17 receptions for 177 yards, and he could see targets right away in a passing offense that is lacking in weapons. McGuire is minimum-priced across DFS sites this week and should be considered if you are looking to load up on high-priced players at other slots.

As expected, the New York Jets have officially activated running back Elijah McGuire from injured reserve and he will be set to make his season debut in Sunday's matchup against the Miami Dolphins after missing the first eight weeks with a foot injury. It remains unclear just how big of a role he will play in the running back rotation from the outset, but his presence certainly muddies the projected workload of Isaiah Crowell since he has been truly game script dependent. This backfield situation may be one to avoid in daily fantasy formats considering Trenton Cannon out-snapped Crowell in Week 8 and may now evolve into a three-back committee with McGuire returning from injury.

Elijah McGuire (foot) expected to be activated for Sunday. It's a little hard to figure out where he'll end up in the pecking order, but it's absolutely possible he ends up seeing the lion's share of the work in games where the Jets aren't able to rely heavily on a ground-and-pound approach with Isaiah Crowell. McGuire does also figure to eat into some early-down work, so he's not a bad GPP gamble given his DFS asking price. This is not a place to go in cash games.
