Emmanuel Mudiay Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Emmanuel Mudiay (knee) out Thursday

Mudiay has officially been downgraded from questionable and won't play in Thursday's matchup against the San Antonio Spurs due to a sore left knee, while Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert were previously ruled out with their respective ailments. In Conley and Mudiay's absences, Donovan Mitchell will almost certainly slide over to the point guard position, but with the Jazz locked into the sixth-seed in the Western Conference, there's a legitimate concern about how long head coach Quin Snyder allows his starters and regular rotation players go in tonight's contest. On top of that, the Jazz has plenty of bodies to absorb the vacated minutes in the backcourt with Miye Oni, Rayjon Tucker, and Justin Wright-Foreman all active this evening.

Emmanuel Mudiay (knee) out Saturday

Mudiay is a late addition to the Jazz injury report and has been ruled out of Saturday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets due to a sore left knee, while Donovan Mitchell remains questionable with a peroneal strain in his lower left leg and Royce O’Neale is still probable because of right calf soreness but is fully expected to return from a one-game absence. As for Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert, they weren’t included on the injury report after sitting out Friday’s first leg of this back-to-back set due to rest purposes, and if Mitchell is unable to suit up, they’ll become fantastic daily fantasy options along with Jordan Clarkson, who should assume starters’ minutes even if he remains in his usual sixth-man role off the bench.

Rudy Gobert (illness) officially out Wednesday

Following an apparent misunderstanding on the part of head coach Quin Snyder at his pregame presser, Gobert has officially been downgraded from questionable anyway and won't play in Wednesday's matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to an illness, while Emmanuel Mudiay will also be unavailable with the same illness, though he's been a DNP-CD in seven of the previous nine games. In his absence, Tony Bradley will receive the starting nod at the center position, but he may not necessarily step directly into a starters' minute workload considering he logged between 22-25 minutes in previous contests Gobert has been unavailable this season.

Donovan Mitchell (illness) out Sunday; Emmanuel Mudiay will start

Mitchell is a late addition to the Jazz injury report and won't play in Sunday's matchup against the Washington Wizards due to an illness, while Mike Conley remains sidelined with a strained left hamstring. Mitchell had taken over a large portion of the point guard duties with Conley unavailable, but now that the Jazz are without their entire starting backcourt for today's contest, those responsibilities will fall upon Joe Ingles and Emmanuel Mudiay, who will receive the starting nod at the point guard position after logging at least 25 minutes off the bench in each of the previous two games. There's a limited sample size with Mitchell off the court in the few games since Jordan Clarkson was acquired from the Cleveland Cavaliers via trade, but in that time, he has a 28.4% usage rate while Ingles leads the way with 35.7% assist rate and is averaging 1.08 DraftKings and 1.01 FanDuel points per minute.

Punt Value

Mudiay is nowhere near an elite fantasy player, but the circumstances dictate that he will be utilized more tonight. Mike Conley has already been ruled out, and the Jazz do not have another true point guard on the active roster outside of Mudiay. Donovan Mitchell will certainly handle the ball a ton, and it’s possible that we only see 24-26 minutes out of Mudiay tonight. However, CourtIQ shows us that Mudiay sees a respectable 24.5% usage rate, and he scores around 32 fantasy points per 36 minutes with Conley off the floor. Even if we scale back the minutes to 25, that puts us at a baseline projection of 22 or 23 fantasy points. While that is not lighting the world on fire, it is certainly a worthwhile output for a player who costs the stone minimum or close to it on every DFS site. Given the tighter pricing over the last few weeks, we simply don’t have a lot of that value available on most slates. For that reason, I am reluctantly including Mudiay in the core, as he really helps free up cap space for your other options — and he is unlikely to tank your lineup given the circumstances.

Emmanuel Mudiay (hamstring) available to play Tuesday

Mudiay has been upgraded from probable and is available to play in Tuesday’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets after returning from a three-game absence due to left hamstring in Monday’s win. Mudiay has logged greater than 17 minutes in just two of his seven games, so his return to the rotation won’t have too much of an impact on the remaining members of the backcourt. However, his presence did relegate Georges Niang from the rotation and possibly even could continue siphoning away a few minutes from Royce O’Neale and Joe Ingles as secondary ball-handlers when Mike Conley is on the bench.

Emmanuel Mudiay (hamstring) probable Tuesday

Mudiay has been listed as probable on the Jazz injury report for Tuesday's matchup against the Brooklyn Nets after returning from a three-game absence due to left hamstring in Monday's win. Mudiay has logged greater than 17 minutes in just two of his seven games, so his return to the rotation won't have too much of an impact on the remaining members of the backcourt. However, his presence did relegate Georges Niang from the rotation and possibly even could continue siphoning away a few minutes from Royce O'Neale and Joe Ingles as secondary ball-handlers when Mike Conley is on the bench.

Emmanuel Mudiay (hamstring) will play Monday

Mudiay has officially been upgraded from questionable and will play in Monday's matchup against the Golden State Warriors after missing three games due to left hamstring tightness. Mudiay has logged greater than 17 minutes in just two of his six games, so his return to the rotation won't have too much of an impact on the remaining members of the backcourt. However, his presence could relegate Georges Niang from the rotation and possibly even siphon away a few minutes from Royce O'Neale and Joe Ingles as secondary ball-handlers in the second unit.

Emmanuel Mudiay has been ruled out

With Mudiay out, the Knicks don't exactly have a healthy point guard (assuming Dennis Smith Jr is ultimately ruled out, and Kadeem Allen stays out). There are some creative options for this predicament, but perhaps the most creative one is the one that coach Fizdale has apparently chosen, which is to start Wednesday night's revenge game star Super Mario Hezonja (usually plays the 3/4) at the 1. Not sure how this will turn out against a fast paced Rockets team that has a lock down defender in Chris Paul, but it should provide for entertaining basketball. Still, Hezonja might be in consideration considering his production on Wednesday and the overall lack of healthy bodies on the Knicks.

Dennis Smith Jr will play off the bench Thursday; Kevin Knox will start

Dennis Smith Jr will play off the bench Thursday; Kevin Knox will start. With DSJ coming off the bench, it does help the viability of Emmanuel Mudiay, but he still carries much more risk than he did without DSJ in the fold and it's likely going to be tough to project the Knicks rotations down the stretch.
