Evgeny Kuznetsov Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
This winger is on the brink of another 50-goal season
The Washington Capitals have a pretty elite matchup against the struggling New Jersey Devils. Over the last month, the Devils have a putrid 44.93 CF% which ranks 29th in the NHL over that time frame. On the flip side, the Capitals have the fourth best CF% with a 54.89 rate and the fifth best 63.82 CF/60 in the last month. Alex Ovechkin is two goals away from his 8th career 50-goal season and playing alongside Egveny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilson at even strength against the Devils is a premium matchup. Ovy and Kuz make for an interesting mini-stack as the two play together on the top power play unit while Wilson is relegated to PP2.
This winger has an elite power play matchup tonight.
This. Man. Does. Not. Stop. Alex Ovechkin just scored his 1200th point in his last game and is on pace for his best goal and point totals in almost a decade. At the ripe age of 33, Alex Ovechkin has not slowed down in the goal-scoring department and there is no reason to expect him to hit a wall tonight as the Washington Capitals visit the Philadelphis Flyers. The Flyers have been abysmal as of late from a possession standpoint, giving up 62.47 CA/60 which is the third most in the NHL over the last month and have a 47.00 CF% which is the 6th-worst rate over the same time frame. Ovechkin is second in the NHL with 16 power play goals and with the Flyers 77.9 percent penalty kill that ranks 26th in the league doesn't bode well Philly.
This center has been dominant on the top line
If you take a look at the New Jersey Devils lineup for tonight, you're going to want to go all-in on the Washington Capitals. Over the last month, the Devils have a league-worst 44.94 CF% which is just a nightmare for them as they roll out an injury-riddled lineup this evening. Evgeny Kuznetsov has kept pace with Alex Ovechkin in goals since February 1st with 8 to Ovechkin's 9. Kuznetsov has been centering Ovechkin and Tom Wilson as of late and they make for a great line stack this evening. If you don't want to roll with Wilson, going with a two-man stack of Kuznetsov and Ovechkin is a solid play as they both play on the top power play unit which gives them full-game correlation.
This ageless sniper continues to dominate
Alex Ovechkin simply doesn't age. His goal-scoring talent remains as elite as it always has been. His office on the power play still cannot be stopped. Ovechkin still has a four-goal lead on the Rocket Richard race, but Leon Draisaitl has been closing the gap as of late. Tonight the Washington Capitals visit the Philadelphia Flyers, a team that has been a horrific possession team over the last month. Philly has the third-worst 46.45 CF% over the last month and a league-worst 65.12 CA/60. Ovechkin is playing alongside Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilson, a line that makes for a great even strength stack. Additionally, Ovechkin and Kuznetsov make for a solid mini-stack as the two are on the top power play unit together as well.
This sniper has an absolutely juicy matchup
Alex Ovechkin has a five-goal lead for the Rocket Richard trophy, but tonight he has the opportunity to extend that by a couple. The Washington Capitals host the Ottawa Senators, a team that just sold everybody off and was already struggling across the board. Over the last month they've allowed a 64.04 CA/60, although they've had a modest 49.18 CF% due to their offense being decent. However, that number should plummet after trading Matt Duchene, Ryan Dzingel and Mark Stone in less than a week. Ovechkin will be playing with Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilson on the top line, which should be able to dominate the Senators.
Despite his teams recent struggles, this sniper continues to score.
Although he is on a four-game goalless dought, Ovechkin did have 7 in his previous 8 so it may not even be fair to call it a slump quite yet. Anyway, the Washington Capitals have struggled mightily as of late with a 3-5-2 record over their last 10 games. However, a home game against the Los Angeles Kings is a great spot to try and get back on the scoresheet. The Kings have struggled with just a 46.68 CF% over the last month and although the Capitals haven't been great either with a 48.42 CF%, they have so much more talent to overcome this slump and tonight is the perfect spot to bounce back.
This line stands out tonight in an elite spot.
The Washington Capitals are hosting a Pittsburgh Penguins team that has struggled as of late. They have allowed 19 goals over their last four games which included three losses on home ice and back to back losses to the New York Islanders to start the skid. Matt Murray has been brutal this season with a 3.87 GAA and .886 SV% which bodes well for the Capitals tonight. The top line is an elite play with Alex Ovechkin playing with Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitrij Jaskin. The full-stack is in play, but leaving Jaskin off and going with a two-man mini-stack makes sense as Ovy and Kuz play on the top power play unit together.
The top line leads the way for Washington but it's not the expected player that is doing it.
It is Evgeny Kuznetsov, not Alex Ovechkin that has been leading the way for the Washington Capitals this season. He's got 12 points in 7 games while Ovechkin has 9 in 7, including 6 goals. They have had a rotating right winger for the most part and last game was no different as Devante Smith-Pelly was on their line. Now, I'd recommend leaving him off the stack and going with just Kuz/Ovy and perhaps loading up John Carlson for some power play correlation albeit at quite the cost. They will be expensive but a matchup against Vancouver is an elite spot even though the Canucks have played alright this season.
Playing with Alex Ovechkin has plenty of benefits.
Obviously Evgeny Kuznetsov is an elite talent, but it certainly helps to play alongside Alex Ovechkin — one of the best players in the NHL over the last decade-plus. Chandler Stephenson has been playing on the right side of this dynamic duo, which is acceptable as a cheap third-wheel to add to the stack. However, a mini-stack of Kuznetsov and Ovy is an elite play as they obviously stick together on the top power play unit.
The top line for the Washington Capitals is off to a hot start.
Whether it's Chandler Stephenson or Brett Connolly, it doesn't really matter who is on the right side of Evgeny Kuznetsov and Alex Ovechkin as those are the two that we are focusing on. Both Kuznetsov and Ovechkin are off to solid starts with four goals and nine points for Kuz and four goals and seven points for Ovy in the teams first five games. The duo make for a great mini-stack as they stick together on the top power play unit with Nicklas Backstrom, T.J. Oshie and John Carlson. The Washington Capitals host the New York Rangers which should be for an easy matchup for them despite the dominant play by Henrik Lundqvist in the early going.
