Elite Toronto goalie gets the night off
Frederik Andersen will get a well-deserved rest as Garret Sparks will get the call for the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight. No matter who is in net for the Leafs, one thing is certain - they always see an abundance of shots. Toronto is allowing the fourth-most shots against per game (33.9 SA/G). Sparks is an easy call on FanDuel at a salivating $7,600 given the overwhelming likelihood of the win. On DraftKings ($8,300), it is a tougher decision given the appropriate price tag, but Sparks has been strong in his last two starts, allowing just a goal while making 72 saves. He's a core play.
Look for Toronto to bounce back
For most of the same reasons that Auston Matthews is a good pick, the same can be said for Frederik Andersen as he is 4-2 on the season with a 2.70 goals against average. The Maple Leafs will look to bounce back from their losing effort on Thursday night to come out on top in this one. The only worry here is that the Blues have put Vladimir Tarasenko, Jaden Schwartz and Brayden Schenn back together so keeping them in check is a must if Toronto wants to win in front of the home crowd. The blues have only scored 17 goals through six games so far this season.
Top Goalie Tonight!
The easy choice here is Toronto's goaltender Frederik Andersen as the Maple Leafs host a Montreal team that has retooled their line-up a little bit. Max Pacioretty has taken up residency in Vegas while defenseman Shea Weber is still recovering from last year’s mid-season knee surgery. Toronto should take this one pretty easily and although he may not see a ton of rubber, but the win seems like a lock, and he may be our best chance at a shutout.
In the final game of the season, the Leafs go with their stud
Frederik Andersen is playing in the Maple Leafs final game of the season as the Leafs host the Montreal Canadiens, a team that cannot wait for this season to end. The Leafs are -235 favourites and taking on a Habs team that is not generating any offence. Over their last 10 games, the Habs have a lowly 51.22 CF/60 which is the second worst in the NHL over that time. The Leafs are looking to finish their season on a high-note as they wait to see if it will be Tampa Bay or Boston in the opening round. Andersen has as much upside as any goalie in the NHL tonight so look for him to pick up the win.
Low Risk, High Reward Goalie
After a successful three year stint in Anaheim, Danish netminder Frederik Andersen did not enjoy very much success early in his first season in Toronto. He has turned things around drastically however; entering tonight's game with a strong .925 SV% at home this season. Tonight he draws a juicy matchup at home against a hapless Buffalo Sabres team that has scored just two goals over their past four games. This bodes well for Andersen, who should have no problems turning aside plenty of low quality shots to easily pay off his steep price tag tonight.
Finally a nice matchup for Frederik Andersen
Frederik Andersen has struggled just a bit lately, but I expect him to bounce back in a big way this evening as the Maple Leafs host the Detroit Red Wings at the Air Canada Centre. Andersen has been solid on home ice all season where he owns a 20-7-2 record to go along with a 2.62 GAA and .925 SV%. His opponent this evening has dropped 11 of their last 12 games and are averaging just 2.35 goals per game since the All-Star break. After facing a tough opponent after a tough opponent for what seems like has been about a month, Andersen should enjoy his time in the crease this evening.
This well-rested goalie is in a great spot tonight
This will just be Frederik Andersen's third game since March 5th, which should bode well for him. He was showing clear signs of fatigue with his struggles but came back looking great against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night. Andersen has been arguably the Maple Leafs MVP this season and looks to continue that tonight against the Dallas Stars. Andersen has put up decent numbers this season with a 2.76 goals against average and .919 save percentage, both of which have sunk dramatically over the last couple weeks with his struggles. With Dallas on the tail-end of a back to back and the Leafs well-rested having not played since Saturday, this is a great spot for Andersen.
Top Goalie Tonight
The Toronto Maple Leafs are the only big favorite on the board tonight, and with the games in Colorado and Vancouver being coin flips, Frederik Andersen easily becomes the number one option in goal tonight in all formats. The Columbus Blue Jackets have struggled to score goals throughout the 2017-18 season, ranking 28th overall in the National Hockey League in goals per game, and I do not see them busting out tonight at the Air Canada Centre while playing their second game in as many nights. Look for Andersen to lock up his 29th win of the season, while making 30-plus saves in the process.
This goaltender has motivation for a big game tonight
Frederik Andersen has been one of the best goaltenders in the NHL since November 1st. Andersen called out the effort of his team after another blown lead on Thursday night against the Flyers. This gives him motivation to have a big game to show his team that he puts in the effort each and every game, saving the Leafs quite frequently. Against a Senators team tonight, he should be able to have a big game. The Sens score just 2.72 goals per game and have really struggled this season. Although he is on the road, which is usually a less than ideal spot, the Leafs should not have a problem defeating Ottawa. If Andersen can keep the puck out of the net he could be in for a big night and has the upside to put up a tournament winning score.
High Upside Goalie For GPPs
After a successful three year stint in Anaheim, Danish netminder Frederik Andersen did not enjoy very much success early in his first season in Toronto. He has turned things around drastically however; entering tonight's game with a strong .922 SV% this season. Tonight he draws a sneaky good matchup on the road against an inconsistent Flyers team that generates among the fewest high danger scoring chances on home ice this season despite regularly outshooting their opponents. This bodes well for Andersen, who should have no problems turning aside plenty of low quality shots to easily pay off his steep price tag tonight.
