Projections for The 3M Open are live
Projections for this week's 3M Open are now live. The five players tagged in this alert have all decided to take a pass on playing this week and have been removed from projections. This week's field is by far the weakest field since the restart. Many players will have significant price bumps in order to cover the various pricing ranges for the week. With the first WGC of the restart and our first major of the year right around the corner, it's no surprise to see many top players take this week off. It's worth noting that Tommy Fleetwood is making his first start since The Players Championship.
Five Minutes to roster lock at The Honda Classic, no major news to report

Round one of The American Express dominated by low owned value plays
Low scores were the theme of the day for the first round of The American Express. Much to the surprise of many in the DFS community many of these low scores were shot by players normally reserved as GPP plays only. Grayson Murray and Zac Blair share the lead after both posting rounds of 64. With 10 of the top 15 round one scores shot by golfers who are both cheap in price and low in ownership, there are quite a few unexpected names near the top of the leaderboard Thursday afternoon. If the weather pattern stays the same we will see more low scores this week, so those golfers who played well today will have to keep up aggressive play in order to keep pace.
Grayson Murray is no longer in the field
Grayson Murray withdrew from The Sony Open this morning. At this time there is no injury news associated with this move. He was replaced in the field by Joey Garber. Murray has flashed upside at times over the last two years, so if you were using him this week please remove him from your builds. Garber will not be in DFS pricing for the week.
Grayson Murray set to return from injury
Twitter sensation and DFS darling Grayson Murray is set to return to the tour this week after missing two months with an injured shoulder. Murray was close to making his return in a title defense at The Baracuda Championship two weeks ago, so it's not a big surprise to him in this week's field. When healthy Murray can pile up DK birdie points with the best in the game. Long lay off's are never an easy thing to handicap, and with a player like Murray, it's ok to really take the wait and see approach in terms of using him in DFS. If anything this week, Murray should be considered as a deep sleeper in GPP's. There is still a chance that Murray could decide to not play this week, but it's worth noting that he did not pull his name out of the hat on Monday. Currently ranked inside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings, it appears that Murry will play this week with hopes of playing a few more events prior to the end of the season.
Grayson Murray provides a source of value this week
Normally the thought of adding Grayson Murray to a DFS roster is something typically reserved as a risk-reward option. With one win already under his belt and a handful of top finishes, Murray is starting to perform at a level that makes him less of a risky play. In what is a very watered down field, Murry has the talent to be a value play this week. Known for his prowess on Bermuda greens, Murray is the type of player that can really excel at Trinity Forest. Currently ranked inside the top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings, Murry could use this week to really propel his position towards making a deep run in this year's race. Murry's only win on tour came at the watered downed Barbasol Championship, a venue that also has Bermuda greens. DFS pricing is very relative this week, and in comparison to other players within his pricing tier, Murry is trending towards being a value play with immense upside.
Big-Hitting Bermuda Specialist
Early in his career, the North Carolina resident has made it very clear that bermuda is his cup of tea. His baseline strokes gained per round hovers just below 0.90 strokes while he gains 1.41 strokes over the field on bermuda. Over the course of four rounds, that is TWO whole strokes over his baseline. He brings recent form into the mix too, posting top 30s in four of his last six starts. Fantasy scoring is always one of his strong suits, as well. He’s posted a birdie rate better than the field in six of his last seven starts. Murray has also posted T2G numbers of 4.4 or greater in five of his last six events. His lone PGA TOUR win came one a course with firm bermuda greens and short rough.
Big Hitter with Carolina Connection
This Raleigh native first hit the spotlight through controversial Twitter ramblings. He’s cooled his jets since then and his performance on the course has improved as a result. Looking at his last four starts, Murray has gained 6 or more strokes over the field in three of them. From a distance perspective, he’s one of the longest in the field. Since joining the TOUR, there have only been two weeks where he’s posted driving distance less than the field average. Missed the cut in nine of his first 12 PGA TOUR starts but since then he is a very respectable 26-for-33 in terms of earning a paycheck. Playing close to home should only add to his comfort level this week.
Grayson Murray is a great target for no cut events
No cut events are great in a sense that they provide players to overcome a bad first round. Murray started off his 2018 season in a less than desirable fashion. His opening round of 82 left many who backed him shaking our heads. Over the next three rounds, Murray was able to turn the tide and his 82.5 DraftKings points put him in the top 35% of last week's field. The ability to get hot and make a ton of bridies always stands out on sites like DraftKings and Murray should be able to do the same this week. At 7.4 percent ownership last week, he outperformed popular plays such as Na and Reavie, and our early week ownership projections show that Murray will once again come in at very low ownership. Due to the format of this, no cut event plays like Murray stand out if you are trying to differentiate your lineups.
