J.T. Riddle Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Surprise Leadoff Hitter To Consider

The Marlins are giving J.T. Riddle a shot at the leadoff spot on Sunday in what could be a sneaky over-looked spot. I get that nobody wants to play the Marlins, but Riddle is cheap and will hold the platoon-advantage. He'll tee off against Michael Lorenzen, who is only expected to throw 60-70 pitches today and has struggled against lefties (Riddle is a lefty). On the season, Lorezen is allowing a .274 average and a .798 OPS to left-handed batters, which plays in Riddle's favor.

J.T. Riddle (sore wrist) scratched Tuesday; Brian Anderson replaces

Riddle has been scratched from the Marlins original confirmed lineup and will not start in Tuesday’s matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies due to left wrist soreness. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Brian Anderson, who will play third base and slot into the fifth spot in the order, which bumps Starlin Castro all the way up to the two-hole, while Miguel Rojas and Lewis Brinson each slide down one batting position to sixth and seventh, respectively. It goes without saying that there have been some noteworthy changes to this Marlins order, so be sure to check out the updated lineup on the Starting Lineups page as they face off against right-hander Jake Arrieta at home this evening.

J.T. Riddle (hip) scratched Thursday; Yadiel Rivera replaces

Riddle has been scratched from the Miami Marlins original confirmed lineup and will not start in Thursday’s matchup against the Washington Nationals due to left hip tightness. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Yadiel Rivera, who will play shortstop and slot into the eighth spot in the order, which does bump Cameron Maybin up two batting positions to Riddle's vacated spot in the sixth-hole. However, the remainder of the Marlins lineup does stay intact as they face off against right-hander Jeremy Hellickson on the road this evening.

Marlins one of two teams with an implied run line above five (5.17) against Ben Lively tonight

Ben Lively has a 12.8 K% (7.4 SwStr%), but with an 85 mph aEV (29.9% 95+ mph EV). He struck out eight with a 14.6 SwStr% in his last start, also allowing four HRs. As such, the Marlins are the second of two teams with an implied run line above five runs (5.17). LHBs have generated a higher wOBA (.374 to .332) and more hard contact (33.7% to 31.9%) against Lively this season, but RHBs have a lower ground ball rate (34.4% to 45.2%). Giancarlo Stanton (155 wRC+, .346 ISO, 37.7 Hard%, 40.7 FB% vs RHP) is favored by the RotoGrinders Player Projections more than a point above any other hitter on either site tonight. He's the premier play here, but not necessarily a great value, above $5K on either site. Christian Yelich (121 wRC+, .166 ISO, 38 Hard%, 26.2 FB%) would be a fine play if he could generate more fly balls. Marcell Ozuna (148 wRC+, .278 ISO, 41.1 Hard% vs RHP) has a 183 wRC+ over the last week, but just a 22.7 Hard%. J.T. Realmuto (99 wRC+, .172 ISO vs RHP) has been just average against same handed pitching and has a 29 wRC+ over the last week. At $2.6K on FanDuel though, he may be one of the top values on the board according to the projections (3.76 Pt/$/K). Marlins bats are fine here. They obviously have one of the top run projections. They might just not be the best values on the board and are likely to be well represented.

J.T. Riddle scratched, Steve Lombardozzi to play 2nd and bat 7th; Dee Gordon shifting to SS

With Riddle scratched, Lombardozzi will now man the keystone while batting 7th in the order. The Marlins weren't an intriguing team target to start with, and this doesn't do anything to change that.
