Jacob Tamme out for season

Tamme had season-ending shoulder surgery this morning, leaving Austin Hooper as Atlanta's primary tight end going forward. Tamme exited early three weeks ago against the Packers and hasn't played since. Hooper has averaged 4.7 targets per game since Tamme was injured (that includes the game Tamme left early). He isn't a great option this weekend as the Falcons are playing the Cardinals, who rank fourth in TE DVOA.

Jacob Tamme, Tevin Coleman, and Desmond Trufant all out for Atlanta this week

These three were unlikely to play this week and the team has confirmed that they will miss the game against the Eagles. Devonta Freeman should be the workhorse back for the Falcons and makes for an excellent pivot off the higher-priced chalk options this week. Austin Hooper will fill in for Tamme but has a tough match up against an Eagles defense that is top 5 in TE DVOA. Trufant being out makes the Eagles passing game a more attractive option as he is by far their best coverage CB.

Jacob Tamme likely out this week

Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn stated that TE Jacob Tamme is likely out this week. Austin Hooper will get the bulk of the work at the TE position for the team and is a value option for GPP's. However, the match up is less than enticing as their opponent, the Eagles, are 4th in TE DVOA.

Tevin Coleman and Jacob Tamme officially inactive, as expected

No surprises here, both players were ruled out earlier in the week. Devonta Freeman will take on the workhorse role once again. Austin Hooper will step up as the leading tight end. He caught all five of his targets for 41 yards last week, with most of his production coming after Tamme went down. He's an interesting tournament flier; the game has a high total of 50.5 points, and he's going up against a poor pass defense. Tampa Bay is allowing 8.2 receptions and 54.7 yards per game to opposing tight ends.

Tevin Coleman and Jacob Tamme OUT for Falcons tomorrow night

The Falcons have announced that Coleman and Tamme will both miss their game tomorrow night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Devonta Freeman will get the bulk of the work against the RB position and is in play for those playing TNF slates given his workload and usage in the passing game and red zone. Austin Hooper is also a value option at the TE position stepping in for Tamme.

Jacob Tamme out for Week 9

Tamme injured his shoulder against the Packers, which forced him to leave the game. Atlanta has a short week as they're playing Tampa Bay on Thursday night, and it won't be enough time for Tamme to heal. Austin Hooper will be the primary receiving tight end. He caught five balls for 41 yards against the Packers. Tampa Bay has a weak pass defense, and they're allowing 7.5 receptions and 51.4 yards per game to opposing tight ends.

Jacob Tamme set for big day at the Superdome

While all the attention is rightfully on Julio Jones preparing to annihilate the Saints secondary again, there is a certain Jacob Tamme worthy of your consideration. Surprisingly, the tight end has accumulated the most targets on the Falcons over the first two weeks (16). In Week 3, he'll face a defense that allowed the most points to the position last season, giving up 18.7 DraftKings points and 15.2 FanDuel points per game. Vegas has the O/U is 53.5 points with a 3-point spread in the Dome, where the Saints love to host shootouts. While Julio figures to have a terrific day, Tamme will make a nice contrarian play (or stack) in GPPs. Even in cash he should be a great choice as he's been consistently involved in the offense so far, seeing 8 targets in each of the first two games. He's very cheap relative to the position, especially on DraftKings where he'll only cost $3,200. Don't be fooled by the Saints 2016 opponent rank vs TE, they haven't been challenged by one yet this year.

With Leonard Hankerson out, Jacob Tamme is in consideration

Last week the Atlanta Falcons put Leonard Hankerson on season-ending IR because of a hamstring injury. Without Hankerson on the field, TE Jacob Tamme sees by far the biggest boost as another option for Matt Ryan. In the six games Hankerson has missed, Tamme has gone 8-94-0, 3-36-0, 10-103-1, 6-61-0, 5-69-0, and 3-26-0 last week vs. the Bucs. While that last stat line isn’t all that impressive, other than Julio Jones (8 receptions) no other receiver had more than 3 receptions. Devonta Freeman had a team-high 10 receptions because of several designed screens and dump-offs out of the backfield. This week should hopefully be a little different as Tamme is still the second most targeted “receiver” on the team. Although the matchup with the Panthers looks intimidating, with top cornerback Josh Norman likely reducing the number of targets to Jones, Tamme will look for a good amount of targets vs. a team that is actually middle of the road vs. opposing TEs.
