JaCoby Jones Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Christin Stewart (manager's decision) scratched Monday; JaCoby Jones replaces

Stewart has been scratched from the Detroit Tigers original confirmed lineup and will not start in Monday’s matchup against the Detroit Tigers due to a manager's decision to alter his lineup card. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by JaCoby Jones, who will play center field and slot into the ninth spot in the order, which bumps Victor Reyes up two spots to seventh, respectively. However, the remainder of the Tigers lineup will stay intact offensively as they face off against left-hander Mike Montgomery at home this evening.

Cheap Leverage Stack In The Texas Heat

Adrian Sampson could easily get into trouble tonight in Texas with his 48.1% hard hits, 40.6% fly balls at only an 18% strikeout rate. While the Tigers are one of the worst hitting teams in the MLB, the ballpark upgrade, weather and matchup could mitigate this fact at bargain basement prices. Playing any of their bats as a one-off as a punt to get up to great 10k pitching options is absolutely viable in any format. But with Sampson potentially garnering ownership as an SP2 on DraftKings, a cheap 5-man stack at under $18.5k combined salary could provide ample leverage in large-field GPPs.

Cheap Low-Owned Stack To Pay Up At Pitching

It's rare that we see the Tigers with higher than a 5 implied run total, but in his short time in the majors, Jacob Waguespack has shown to be a below-average ground ball pitcher with walk issues. Nearly all the Detroit bats are under $4k on DraftKings and make for great lineup fillers for salary relief to pay up at pitching, especially one of the OFs between Jacoby Jones, Nick Castellanos, or Christin Stewart. The full 5-man stack is currently rated 3rd for value, allows you to fill in a cheap catcher, and should be under 2% owned as a combination in large-field GPPs.

Cheap top of the order bats for a well projected offense

The Tigers are sitting at 4.58 implied runs, which a mark that reaches the top third of the ball tonight because batters from either side of the plate are above a .325 wOBA and xwOBA against Ian Kennedy, an extreme fly ball pitcher. The Tigers have just one legitimate bat in Nick Castellanos (116 wRC+, .202 ISO vs RHP this season), but Christin Stewart (145 wRC+, .212 ISO) has done some damage in a small sample and both he and leadoff man Jacoby Jones (76 wRC+, .172 ISO) are extremely cheap, perhaps affording the opportunity to pay up for pitching tonight.

Carlos Carrasco faces a Detroit lineup minus it's top two bats

While the Detroit Tigers have a team 20.7 K% against RHP this year that's one of the lower marks in the league, this particular lineup tonight is absent both Jeimer Candelario and Nick Castellanos. With Pete Kozma batting second, PlateIQ tells us that this confirmed lineup has just a .130 ISO and 25.8 K% vs RHP since last season with Kozma, Jacoby Jones and Niko Goodrum exceeding a 30% strikeout rate against RHP. Carrasco exceeded seven strikeouts for the first time this season last time out, but is now probably the top pitcher on the board in this expected cakewalk.

Stack This Team And Pay Up For Pitching

Texas and Detroit are two of my favorite stacks of the day and fortunately both are incredibly cheap, allowing me to pay up for two stud pitchers on Draftkings and FantasyDraft. I like the stack on FanDuel but won't be using it there quite as much. Detroit as a team hits much better during the day (not just Miggy) and have had some explosive games recently, scoring 12 and 13 runs in 2 of their last 4 games. Today they have a great matchup against the lefty Skoglund and that awful Royals bullpen. Castellanos, Cabrera and VMart all have an ISO of .229 or better vs lefties since the start of 2016, and James McCann is a noted lefty masher who had a .268 ISO vs lefties last year. Jacoby Jones has four straight double digit fantasy point games on DK and Candelario has 4 in his last 6. The Tigers are cheap, will be low owned and make for a great GPP stack today.
