Jake Allen Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Cheap goalie draws strong matchup
For whatever reason, Jake Allen and the Blues have struggled on home ice, but on the road Allen has been servicable, going 7-6-2 with a 2.33 GAA and .920 SV%. He made one start against the Kings already this season, allowing just a goal on 26 shots. The Kings are the National Hockey League's worst offense (2.22 GF/G). This month alone, the Kings have been held to two or fewer goals in seven of their nine games. Allen is a way to differentiate from the likely popular Marc-Andre Fleury.
**Edit @ 11:20 - Just a note, Allen has not been confirmed yet as it's possible Jordan Binnington could get the start. They're the same price on DraftKings, so it is not too big of an issue with late swap**
Back to back strong performances from St. Louis goalie
Jake Allen is too expensive on DraftKings ($8,200), but on FanDuel where he is just $7,700, there is some merit to him in tournaments. Allen has strung together two strong starts, making 18 stops on 19 shots in Chicago and following it up with 32 saves on 33 shots in Vegas. A matchup with a Los Angeles team averaging the fewest goals per game (2.00) is one to take advantage of. While Allen is not likely to face many shots, he has a solid chance of picking up the win as prior to putting three past Pekka Rinne, the Kings had posted the following goal totals: 1, 1, 0, 1. Allen makes for a low-owned tournament play who could hit a respectable 20-25 fantasy points tonight even on an off night.
For FanDuel cash games, stick to Connor Hellebuyck, the biggest favorite of the night, who is wrongly priced at just $8,100.
Top Goalie Tonight
The St. Louis Blues are the biggest favorite on the board tonight as they host a Chicago Blackhawks team that has struggled to both win games and score goals (23rd overall in goals per game) in the month of March. The Blackhawks have been free falling for some time now, meanwhile the Blues are in a must-win situation tonight at the Scottrade Center, which moves goaltender Jake Allen to the top of my goalie list. Allen may not see the most shots on the evening, but he is our safest option for a win and therefore our top play in cash games.
Top Goalie Tonight
If you are playing cash games tonight, Jake Allen is a slam dunk in goal. The St. Louis Blues are the biggest favorite by a large margin tonight on this five-game slate, and for good reason, as the Vancouver Canucks continue to struggle mightily to both win games and score goals on the road. In case you are worried about the Canucks pulling off another upset tonight at the Scottrade Center, you should know that Vancouver has not won back-to-back road games in over four months, so we can definitely play Allen with the utmost confidence this evening. Allen may not see more than 30 shots, but he is a lock for the win, and our best chance at a shutout.
Top Goalie Tonight?
The St. Louis Blues are one the biggest favorites on the board tonight, moving goaltender Jake Allen to the top of our cash game goalie list. The Blues remain one of the National Hockey Leagues best defensive teams and Allen is currently playing his best hockey of the season, posting a 2.24 GAA and a .922 SV% in the month of December. The Blues second line (featuring defensive specialists Paul Stastny and Alex Steen) should be able to keep the Devils top line in check tonight, and as a one line team, that spells trouble for the Devils offense. I expect Allen to cruise to an easy victory tonight, and I cannot see the Devils scoring more than one goal, making the Blues netminder an excellent choice for your cash game lineup.
This goaltender is playing back to back nights, but is in a great spot
Jake Allen is playing both games of the St. Louis Blues back to back this weekend, but tonight is a great spot. The Blues are home to the Buffalo Sabres who, while they are rested, struggle to score. Buffalo is dead last in the NHL averaging just 2.13 goals per game, which is terrible. The Blues also average just 2.53 goals per game, which is the fifth best in the league. On the season, Allen has a 2.56 goals against average and a .912 save percentage, which isn't great, but should be able to overcome that in this very positive matchup.
Top Goalie Tonight!
The St. Louis Blues are by far the biggest favorite on the board, moving Jake Allen to the top of our cash game list. The Anaheim Ducks are missing some key offensive players (Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Patrick Eaves and now Rickard Rakell), and as a result, they have struggled mightily on the offensive side, ranking 27th overall in goals per game. Allen may not see a ton of rubber this evening, but he is a lock for the win tonight, and he is your best chance at a shutout.
Can This Goalie Stay Hot On Home Ice?
If you're looking to differentiate your lineups in tournaments tonight, consider taking Jake Allen, who has been solid for the Blues this season. Entering tonight's game with a 6-2 record to go along with a solid .920 SV% at home this season, Allen draws a sneaky good matchup against a struggling Oilers team that has is dead last in scoring on the road this season. This bodes well for Allen, who has the luxury of playing behind one of the league's best defensive teams in St. Louis, who have proven more than capable of shutting down teams on home ice over the years. In a game that St. Louis should be able to control, Allen could go relatively overlooked in tournaments tonight, making him a low-risk, high-reward goalie that should have no problems paying off his steep price tag.
Top Goalie Tonight!
We have a few solid options in goal tonight for cash games, with Jake Allen leading the way. Allen is quite pricey, but he is also a virtually lock for the win. The St. Louis Blues are a massive favorite tonight as they host the National Hockey Leagues worst overall team, but Allen may not see more than 25 shots, and you are a paying a pretty penny to roster him. In the mid-tier, both Mike Smith and Ryan Miller are worth considering. Neither goalie is likely to see an abundance of shots, but both should come away with the win. We could also ride the hot and inexpensive hand of Charlie Lindgren. The Montreal Canadiens goalkeeper is the riskier play of the four, but he is also the least expensive. At the end of the day, I think it is wise to pay up Jake Allen. The Blues netminder may not be the highest scoring goalie, but he is the safest option for your cash game lineups.
Pay Up To Be Contrarian With This Goalie
If you're looking to differentiate your lineups in tournaments tonight, consider taking Jake Allen, who has been solid for the Blues this season. Entering tonight's game with a 7-2-1 record to go along with a solid .921 SV%, Allen draws a sneaky good matchup against an overrated Flyers team that has been getting all of their production from one line and was shutout in last night's game against Chicago. This bodes well for Allen, who has the luxury of playing in behind one of the league's best defensive teams in St. Louis, who have proven more than capable of shutting down one line teams on home ice over the years. In a game that St. Louis should be able to control, Allen could go overlooked in tournaments tonight, making him a low-risk, high-reward goalie that should have no problems paying off his steep price tag.
