First Line Offers Value
The Dallas Stars have mixed up their lines since the All-Star break and have rolled out a "first line" of Radek Faksa, Jamie Benn, and Blake Comeau. While Comeau leaves much to be desired, Faksa is a solid player and Benn has proven to be a borderline elite producer in the past. Benn also gets time on the number one power play unit with the likes of Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov. I prefer to forego Comeau and go with a partial stack of Benn and Faksa, which allows you to pair with another expensive line.
This centre is on a bit of a goal-scoring tear.
Tyler Seguin has picked up the pace in the goal department as of late with six goals in his last four games and a total of eight points. The Dallas Stars are rolling with their stacked top line with Seguin centering Jamie Benn and Alex Radulov as the Stars visit Philadelphia to take on the Flyers. This line always makes for an elite play because the trio play together on the top power play unit and the Dallas PP is ranked 9th in the NHL, converting on 22.1 percent of their opportunities. On the flip side, the Flyers penalty kill ranks 28th with just a 75.2 percent success rate.
Top line in great spot on home ice
The Dallas Stars will host the Detroit Red Wings tonight. The Star’s top line has disappointed us a few times so far this year, but I will be going back to the well again tonight. When Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, and Alexander Radulov are on the same line, we know they have massive upside with great chemistry and play making ability. The Star’s CEO also said the team needs more out of Benn and Seguin, so there’s a bit of a squeaky wheel narrative also. Detroit is giving up the fifth most HDCA/60 at 12 per game and their CA/60 is 59.29. The Star’s top line should have plenty of chances and offensive zone-time to get the team back on track tonight. Defenseman John Klingberg is the power-play quarterback you want to stack up with this trio.
This stacked top line is in an elite spot.
The Dallas Stars are in an elite spot as they host the Chicago Blackhawks this evening. Chicago has been a disaster this season and losing their starting goaltender Corey Crawford to another concussion only makes matters worse. Cam Ward is expected in net tonight and he's been a disaster with a 3.95 GAA and .888 SV%. The top line for the Dallas Stars with Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov has been solid though not quite as elite as they have been. Radulov leads the way in the points per game aspect with 26 points in 24 games, while Seguin has 31 in 34 games and Benn with 27 in 34 games. The trio also all play on the top power play unit together which gives them elite upside against the league-worst penalty kill that has just a 72.4 percent success rate.
This team is going with the stacked top line.
Although Dallas stacks their top line more often than not with Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn and Alexander Radulov, they are still a top play whenever it occurs due to their elite talent. This trio also plays on the top power play unit together which not only gives them elite upside, it gives them full-game correlation. Seguin is an especially great play because his shot volume is insane which gives him an incredibly high floor as he averages 4.28 shots per game. The Stars are hosting the San Jose Sharks, a team that has struggled as of late and allowed 59.1 CA/60 which is the 8th-worst mark in the NHL over the last three weeks.
Home Sweet Home for Dallas
After a lengthy road trip, the Stars return home to face the Oilers tonight. The top line of Tyler Seguin, Alexander Radulov, and Jamie Been has been dominant at home, especially Radulov and Seguin. Seguin is averaging 5.9 DK points per game at home compared to 3.6 on the road. Radulov has similar splits with 6.4 and 4.3 respectively. As of this writing, it looks like Radulov might be dropped to the second line, but this trio will still see time together on the deadly number one power play unit. Jason Spezza looks to be in line to join the first line at even strength.
Slight Discount on Elite Winger
The Dallas Stars have the perfect matchup tonight against Ottawa, who has arguably the worst defense in the NHL. They have allowed 94 goals in 22 games, or 4.27 goals per game. While Alexander Radulov and Tyler Seguin are quite expensive, Jamie Benn has been priced down on DraftKings thanks to a mini-drought by his standards. They possess elite upside and could easily all end up with multi-point nights.
The top line of the Dallas Stars is stacked.
Tyler Seguin leads the league in shots with 92, is playing on a stacked line with Jamie Benn and Alexander Radulov, and playing a NY Rangers team that struggles with possession. The Rangers have a 46.39 CF% (27th) and a 61.56 CA/60 (29th) and while the Stars are an equally poor possession team, their stacked top line is always in play. The Rangers have the 23rd ranked penalty kill with just a 76.8 success rate and while the Stars power play hasn't been great, the talent on it with Benn, Seguin, Radulov, Jason Spezza and Esa Lindell.
Russian Playmaker Returns to Lineup
Alexander Radulov is slated to return to the lineup this evening after missing 10 games with a lower body injury. Radulov should be immediately slotted into the first line with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. He'll also join them on the power play where he is always a threat to get on the scoresheet. I don't expect the Stars to ease him in, and he should see his usual 20 minutes of ice time. The matchup with the Blue Jackets isn't one to be feared. Columbus has allowed the 6th most goals in the league this year. Load up the Stars first line with confidence.
The top line in Dallas is in a tough spot, but on home ice they are in play.
As the Dallas Stars host the Anaheim Ducks tonight, their top line is in a tough spot, but on home ice they are absolutely in play. With Alex Radulov expected to miss tonight's game, Tyler Pitlick played with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn last game and that should be the case again tonight. He's not the best third-wheel and I wouldn't blame you for leaving him off your line stack but he's cheap so that could warrant a play. Seguin and Benn obviously make for a great two-man stack as the duo play together on the top power play unit as well.
