Extreme value option on the blue-line
Jan Rutta may be a rookie in the National Hockey League, but he's been well seasoned after years of professional experience in the Czech Republic. The Blackhawks entered the 2017-18 season with huge question marks regarding their defensive depth, but the 27-year-old Rutta has impressed. Rutta has picked up at least one point in each game (two goals and two asssits after three games) and has averaged over 19 minutes of ice-time per game in the process. His stong play even earned him a small dose of playing time with the second power-play unit last night in Toronto, where he picked up an assist on Richard Panik's goal. Tonight's matchup opposite Carey Price is far from ideal, but he doesn't need to produce much at this price-point to exceed value.
