Jason Kokrak Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Projections for The 3M Open are live

Projections for this week's 3M Open are now live. The five players tagged in this alert have all decided to take a pass on playing this week and have been removed from projections. This week's field is by far the weakest field since the restart. Many players will have significant price bumps in order to cover the various pricing ranges for the week. With the first WGC of the restart and our first major of the year right around the corner, it's no surprise to see many top players take this week off. It's worth noting that Tommy Fleetwood is making his first start since The Players Championship.

Jason Kokrak is no longer in the field

Jason Kokrak withdrew today from The Honda Classic and will be replaced by Chris Baker. Due to the timing of this move, we should not expect to see Baker added to the player pool.

Ball Striking has been on Point

This should be a good course for Kokrak, but he’s never had much success here (to be fair, he’s still made four of his last five cuts at this event). Perhaps he likes to party it up in Vegas or perhaps this is the best he’s played in his career so it’s a little unfair to compare his recent results with ones from many years ago. Statistically, he’s a perfect fit for TPC Summerlin. In this field, he’s ranked ninth in strokes gained off the tee, 11th in strokes gained approach, 11th in greens in regulation, and 24th in birdie or better percentage. He missed the cut his last time out (Greenbrier), but it was right on the number and solely due to his putter. He actually gained over four strokes ball striking in only two rounds. Before that event, he had posted four straight top 20 finishes. His putter will always be an issue, but his inability to scramble should be negated by easy to hit greens and great weather in the forecast this week.

Well Rested Ball Striker

We haven’t seen Kokrak since the Memorial where he made the cut, but finished outside the top 50. He withdrew from the Charles Schwab Challenge and didn’t end up qualifying for the U.S. Open. He’s one of the most rested golfers in the field and he’s been in amazing form all year. It’s been nearly a full year since he has missed a cut on tour and in 13 events this calendar year, he has eight top 20 finishes. He nearly won the Valspar Championship, which is a nice comp course for TPC River Highlands. Even though he’s long off the tee, he seems to play his best golf on some of these shorter tracks.

Jason Kokrak looks to keep his made cut streak alive

Currently ranked inside the top 35 in the FedEx Cup standings, Jason Kokrak is in a great position to make a deep run in the playoffs. The 34-year-old Kokrak has played well enough this year to make a run at a couple of first in his career. Still winless on the PGA Tour, Kokrak has 10 top 25 finishes this year highlighted by a 2nd place finish at The Valspar. In addition to not having a win in his career, Kokrak has also never played his way into the tour championship. Entering this week with a perfect 16 for 16 cut record in tack, Kokrak will once again challenge the course history vs current form debate. Having only made one cut in his last 4 trips to The Memorial, Kokrak lacks the course history to make him a sure-fire play for the week. That being said, Kokrak has been a top 20 machine this season and is clearly playing some of the best golf of his career. With a high ranking in all of the important ball striking metrics, Kokrak on paper should have a good week at a course he has struggled on in the past.

Ten Minutes to roster lock, no major news to report

Ten minutes until roster lock and there is no major news to report. Jason Kokrak made headlines with an early week withdrawal, so if for some reason he is still in your builds please remove him. Wind will be a factor this week, but there should not be an edge as far as a favorable tee time draw. Good luck this week. ResultsDB will be up and running within 15 minutes of roster lock. Make sure to check out how your lineups stack up against the field.

Jason Kokrak is no longer in the field

Jason Kokrak has just withdrawn from this week's Charles Schwab Challenge. Kokrak will be replaced in the field by Robert Castro. As one of the hottest players on tour, the news of Kokrak not playing this week will surely affect many in the DFS community. Please make sure to remove him from your roster builds.

Getting Better in Majors

Kokrak finally had the blowup round that everyone was waiting for, but it was after he made the cut at the Wells Fargo Championship. We can forgive a single bad round, especially since he’s played so well all season. He still hasn’t missed a cut since last year’s Open Championship and he’s been a top 20 machine all year. We shouldn’t put a ton of stock into course history for the PGA Championship, but he has progressively better finishes at the event in each of the last three seasons. And finally, poa is his preferred putting surface, which never hurts.

Jason Kokrak continues to ride the hot hand

Having not missed a cut in almost a year, Jason Kokrak is playing not only the best golf of his career, but he is also playing some of the most consistent golf of anyone on Tour. This run by Kokrak reminds of Charley Hoffman's 2017 season. Much like Hoffman before him, Kokrak was often thought of as just a boom or bust type option where his game fits the course. Hoffman was able to post 14 top 25 or better finishes that season and those that chose to wait for him to cool off ended up very disappointed. With 9 top 25 or better finishes, this season and a game trending in the right direction Kokrak is player that should be a popular fit in all roster formats. Much like we have seen in previous events this season, Kokrak playing his best golf does not need good course history to be a roster consideration.

Why Hop Off the Bandwagon Now?

I write Kokrak up every week and I say the same thing every time. For those that have been waiting for him to fall off, they have been waiting for months and months. He hasn’t missed a cut since last summer and he continues to burn everyone that has faded him in DFS. He has four top 10 finishes in his last six events on tour and is one of the best statistical fits for the course. In this field, he’s ranked seventh or better in strokes gained approach, proximity, birdie or better percentage, and bogey avoidance. He doesn’t have the best course history, but this is the best golf that he’s ever played in his career.
