Jason Pominville Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

This winger is struggling but has a great matchup to bounce back.

Remember all of the early-season Jeff Skinner hype? Well that has certainly died off as he has just one goal in 13 March games. He also has just one assist to go with that, so it has been quite the slump for Skinner. He's still firing the puck a bunch with 46 shots in the process, but he really needs to get things going if he wants to get paid the numbers that were being floated back in December. If there is a matchup to turn things around it is a home game against the lowly Detroit Red Wings. Detroit, over the last month, have a league-worst 43.01 CF% and have given up a league-worst 65.99 CA/60. This could help Skinner get back on track. Now, his linemates aren't great in Casey Mittelstadt and Jason Pominville which likely keeps him at low ownership as well as the entire line at low ownership. Skinner may be a better one-off play, as his linemates don't play on the same PP unit as him.

This upcoming UFA is going to get a big pay day

Jeff Skinner is tied for second in the NHL in goals with Patrick Kane with 36 — 6 goals behind league-leading Alex Ovechkin's 42. With Jeff Skinner being an upcoming UFA, he's going to hit a big pay day as his goal-scoring has been on full display playing alongside Jack Eichel all season. Eichel and Skinner play on the top power play unit together which gives the two-man stack elite upside as they'll play the entire game together (for the most part). They visit the Florida Panthers who are rolling out the struggling James Reimer between the pipes, a goalie with just a 3.05 GAA and .901 SV%.

Thriving on his new team, this UFA is looking to get paid.

Jeff Skinner has been incredible for the Buffalo Sabres this season and seems to returned to early-career form as an elite sniper. At just 26 years old, he has really benefited from playing with Jack Eichel and if Buffalo doesn't pay him, somebody else will. His concussion issues seem to be a thing of the past and he has turned into one of the best goal-scorers in the game. He continues to play alongside Eichel tonight with Jason Pominville on the other wing. The Sabres host the New York Rangers tonight who will have Alexandar Georgiev between the pipes. Georgiev has struggled this season with a 3.11 goals against average and .905 save percentage.

36 year old top liner has three goals this month

Early in the season we saw how productive Buffalo's top line of Jack Eichel, Jeff Skinner and Jason Pominville were, but after some time, Pominville slid down the depth chart. He is back on the top line and has found his game again in February with three goals in six games. While Pominville does not skate on the team's top power play unit, the Sabres' top line should get their fair share of chances against a Rangers' squad (46.31 CF%) who trails only the Ottawa Senators league-worst Corsi For (44.76 CF%).

The Buffalo Sabres have been one of the biggest surprises this season.

The Buffalo Sabres have been one of the biggest surprises this season and a big part of that has been from their off-season acquisition in Jeff Skinner. He's been primarily playing on the top line with Jack Eichel and the duo currently have Jason Pominville on the right side. Eichel currently sits 22nd in league scoring and Skinner is in 28th. However, Skinner's 15 goals are tied for 2nd in the NHL with Alex Ovechkin and trail only David Pastrnak. The Sabres host the Montreal Canadiens who will be rolling out Antti Niemi this afternoon. Niemi has struggled with a 3.74 goals against average and .887 save percentage and there is no reason to believe that should improve after this game.

In a battle of what we thought would be the basement, the top line of the Buffalo Sabres is in a premium spot.

Antti Niemi will be between the pipes for the Montreal Canadiens tonight which bodes well for the Buffalo Sabres. Their top line is pretty stacked with Jack Eichel centering Jeff Skinner and Jason Pominville and like many of the options you'll want to use tonight, the three remain together on the top power play unit. This is always important because it increases their correlation being on the ice together not only at even strength but also with the man advantage.

Cheap Buffalo winger riding four game point streak

Veteran winger Jason Pominville is riding a four game point streak in which he has taken 11 shots on goal, potting two goals and two helpers during this stretch. Playing alongside stud center Jack Eichel only adds to Pominville's value tonight, especially against an Ottawa team which allowed 3.38 goals per game last month behind a putrid .896 save percentage from their netminders. Jason is affordable across the industry (FanDuel - $4,300 and DraftKings - $4,100) and makes for a fine option in all formats, especially as a one-two punch with Jack Eichel.

A nice opportunity for this overlooked veteran forward

It's tough to target Buffalo players with much confidence, but if you're going to do it, a battle with the Ottawa Senators isn't a bad time. Since the All-Star break, the Senators have posted an NHL worst 65.14 CA/60 and their 124.52 CP60 makes them the fastest paced team in the league during that same time frame. While Jason Pominville is clearly on the down-swing of his impressive career, the 35-year-old is still showing plenty of life offensively as he's scored two goals and dished out five assists in his last seven games. Pominville sees a healthy dose of playing time on Buffalo's top power-play unit which should bode well for him considering Ottawa's ugly 75.7% penalty kill.
