Home Sweet Home for Dallas
After a lengthy road trip, the Stars return home to face the Oilers tonight. The top line of Tyler Seguin, Alexander Radulov, and Jamie Been has been dominant at home, especially Radulov and Seguin. Seguin is averaging 5.9 DK points per game at home compared to 3.6 on the road. Radulov has similar splits with 6.4 and 4.3 respectively. As of this writing, it looks like Radulov might be dropped to the second line, but this trio will still see time together on the deadly number one power play unit. Jason Spezza looks to be in line to join the first line at even strength.
Stars' center moves to wing and joins top line
Unfortunately for Alexander Radulov, he will not skate on the top line with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, so as was the case last time out, Jason Spezza who will be on the top line. Spezza has not done much since 2016-17, but on a three game slate, and at his cheap price tag across the industry, Spezza enters the conversation in all formats, especially to gain exposure to the Stars' top line and top power play unit. Edmonton blanked the Stars 1-0 last Tuesday, but it won't be as easy this time around as Dallas should get their top line out against Edmonton's weak lines. It would be surprising if Spezza doesn't easily pay off his salary given the opportunity with Benn and Seguin.
Time to break out of this scoring slump
It's not easy getting comfortable rostering a guy who hasn't registered a point in 12 straight games, but Jason Spezza should be on your radar this evening. The veteran center is slated to hop onto Dallas' top forward line alongside Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, and we've seen him thrive in this role in years past. Spezza has four career 80+ point seasons on his NHL resume and there's still no denying his playmaking abilities. He'll have the added motivation of taking on his former team and the Ottawa Senators also happen to own an NHL worst 62.47 CA/60 this season.
