Jeff Carter Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Kings are Underpriced Despite Struggles
The Los Angeles Kings are a bad hockey team, there is no denying that. But that doesn't mean there can't be value from a DFS perspective. Jeff Carter is my favorite of the bunch. He is only $3,900 on DraftKings, but is seeing about 20 minutes a game, including all the time he can handle on the power play. His linemates (Tyler Toffoli and Kyle Clifford) aren't great real-life players, but they are near minimum price and make for a dirt cheap stack. Drew Doughty is also fairly priced given his extensive workload and ability to score fantasy points through blocked shots and shots on goal.
Underpriced Kings' center takes on team that drafted him
The Kings finally ended their six game losing streak last time out, upending the Rangers 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. During the losing streak, the Kings struggled to find any sort of offense, managing the following goal totals: 1, 1, 2, 1, 2 and 1. Accordingly, the prices on all the Kings have come crashing down. Jeff Carter, for example, is just $4,600 on DraftKings. In an injury-shortened 2017-18 season, Carter collected 22 points (13 goals, 9 assists) in 27 games. The Kings are searching for answers offensively, and it appears the "That 70s Line" has been reunited, hoping to regain their once-elite chemistry. The matchup for the Kings tonight is one of the best they've had all season as the Philadelphia Flyers have struggled defensively, allowing the most goals per game (4.00 GA/G) behind a penalty kill that ranks second-worst (67.4%) in the National Hockey League. Carter makes for a low-owned option with big upside in tournaments.
That 70's Line is back together and we can hope they generate chances like they have in the past.
Of all lines with at least 500 even strength minutes together from 2015-2018, That 70's Line made up of Jeff Carter, Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli ranks second in the NHL with a 60.71 CF%. They are second only to Boston's top line of Patrice Bergeron, David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand and we all know how good that line is. Essentially, the Kings second line has been dominant when they play together — that just hasn't been very often. Well, they're together tonight and the trio stick together on the second power play unit which is encouraging because having this line stick together for the entire game gives them fantastic upside. The matchup at home is great and although Martin Jones is a solid goalie for the Sharks, there is still plenty of reason to think this line can put up some big numbers tonight.
Kings center potted two goals two weeks ago against same Arizona squad
Antti Raanta stayed hot in Vegas last night as the upstart Arizona Coyotes upended the Golden Knights 3-2. The Coyotes will have their hands full again tonight as they take on a Kings team in the thick of playoff positioning. Jeff Carter, who has missed most of the season, has found his game of late and has picked up four goals and two assists in his last five games. Jeff is skating on the team's top power play and second line with two wingers, the dirt-cheap Tobias Rieder and the always dangerous Tyler Toffoli. Last time these two teams met, Carter buried two goals as the Kings fell 4-3 in a shootout. With a number of high-upside centers priced above Jeff tonight, he could fly under the radar. Arizona has been better defensively for a good stretch now, but the short turn around time will not help matters. Jeff has multi-point upside in this matchup.
Don't Sleep On This Talented Trio
Finally healthy after missing much of the earlier part of the year, Jeff Carter continues to carry the load offensively for Los Angeles. Skating alongside Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli on L.A.'s second line dubbed "That 70s Line," Carter and the Kings draw a fantastic matchup at home against a weak Vancouver team that has allowed the second most shot attempts and scoring chances among road teams over their past 25 games. Also featured on LA's top power play unit, Carter, Pearson, and Toffoli should have no problems paying off their manageable price tags in a game the Kings will be able to impose their dominance as one of the league's best puck possession teams.
Struggling sniper looks to turn things around on home ice.
Jeff Carter is off to a slow start this season with just three assists in the first five games. It has been the top line with Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown that has been getting all of the offense going for the Kings. Everybody knows that, which makes the second line for the Kings a great play for GPP's tonight. Carter is skating with Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson and they make up "That 70's Line". Tonight, they are at home and taking on the Canadiens who are on the tail-end of a back to back. The Kings are either going to be facing a struggling Carey Price, or Habs back-up goalie Al Montoya. Either situation is an advantage for a rested Kings team looking to continue on with their offensive ways.
Multi-Goal Potential Tonight
The New York Islanders were one of the weaker defensive teams in the National Hockey League in 2016-17, and it appears that trend will continue in 2017-18. The Islanders are sitting in the bottom-third of the league in most defensive categories, such as CA/60, SCA/60 and shots against per game. The Los Angeles Kings that 70s line (led by Jeff Carter) is a dominant possession line, and they should be able to create a ton of scoring chances tonight in this plus matchup on home ice. Carters high shot total gives him a solid floor and his multi-goal potential provides him with a high ceiling, putting him in play for all formats. Whether you are using him as part of a line stack, or as a one off, Carter should be at the top of your Center list tonight in this favorable matchup at the Staples Center.
LA Second Line
Fresh off another productive season in which he tallied 70 points, Jeff Carter continues to carry the load offensively for Los Angeles. Skating alongside Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli on L.A.'s second line dubbed "That 70's Line," Carter and the Kings draw a sneaky good matchup at home against an inconsistent Flyers team that will be playing on consecutive nights on the road to open the year. Also featured on LA's top power play unit, Carter, Pearson, and Toffoli should have no problems paying off their manageable price tags in a game the Kings will be able to impose their dominance as the league's best puck possession team.
