Jeremy Kerley Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Bills have released WR Jeremy Kerley

The Buffalo receiving corps is even thinner now after moving on from the veteran. Kerley was second on the team in catches in Sunday's debacle against Baltimore, but now Andre Holmes will be elevated to the No.3 wide receiver position with Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones still on top of the depth chart. With Josh Allen starting this week, the Bills passing attack is slightly more appealing, though owners might want to wake a wait-and-see approach on the unit.

Jeremy Kerley suspended for next four games

The suspension was reported last week and the NFL finally made it official on Monday after they popped the receiver for violating the league's PED policy. Kerley has only averaged 3.4 targets per game so his absence won't shift a ton. He left Week 9's game with a foot injury after six snaps and the Jets opted to run Chad Hansen out there for 32 plays. Instead of taking over Kerley's slot duties, he ran 71% of his routes on the outside while Jermaine Kearse ran a season-high 52% of his routes inside. Depending on how CB Brent Grimes health shakes out - he's missed the past two games - Kearse could line up see Vernon Hargreaves in the slot pretty often on Sunday. The CB moved inside for one week prior to injuries forcing him back outside. He's PFF's 49th cover corner and he's allowed the seventh-most yards per cover snap (1.54).

Jeremy Kerley warming up, expected to play Week 9

Kerley is expected to be suspended for violating an NFL policy but the punishment hasn't been handed down yet, meaning he'll play against the Bills tonight. He's averaging a lackluster 3.9 targets per game this season and hasn't seen more than four since Week 4, so he isn't an appealing fantasy option. Quarterback Josh McCown will likely continue to focus on Robby Anderson, who's coming off his best game of the season with a 6/104/1 line, but he has a tough matchup with PFF's seventh-ranked cover corner, Tre-Davious White. He'll continue to favor Austin Seferian-Jenkins as well and he has a great spot. The Bills are allowing the fifth-most receptions per game to tight ends. ASJ has only seen five targets the past two weeks but he saw eight and 11 in the two games prior and he's scored three times over those four games. McCown seems to trust him near the end zone and he's been very efficient as he's turned 3-of-4 targets inside the ten-yard line into touchdowns.

Jeremy Kerley will be suspended for at least Week 9

Kerley violated an undisclosed NFL policy and will be suspended, although the length of the ban has not yet been released. He's not a huge factor on the Jets offense, attracting just 3.4 targets per game.

Robby Anderson (knee) and DL Muhammad Wilkerson (shoulder) aren't practicing Thursday

Tight ends Jordan Leggett (knee) and Neal Sterling (ankle) were also sidelined. All four of these players were absent from Wednesday's practice as well. While the Jets practice, Anderson is running routes on the sideline with a brace supporting his knee. If he misses time, it would provide a bump in volume for Jermaine Kearse, Jeremy Kerley, and potentially Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who's returning from a two-game suspension this week. On Wednesday, Head coach Todd Bowles seemed to imply Seferian-Jenkins would be limited in some capacity - or possibly inactive - this weekend when he said the tight end needed to get in better shape. However, with their tight end group banged up, he may need to suit up. Kearse is a volume-based fantasy target in an inefficient offense. He currently leads the team with 11 receptions and 123 yards and he's the only player on the team who's caught a touchdown this year - he pulled down two against the Raiders in Week 2. Not surprisingly, the Jets have the second-lowest implied total this week (18 points).

Jeremy Kerley active Sunday

Kerley was originally expected to be inactive today, so this is a bit of a surprise. He signed with the team less than two weeks ago and was a healthy scratch in Week 1. It's possible he's limited in some capacity in his 2017 debut. Even if he wasn't, he isn't a very appealing target considering how poor the Jets offense is and his place on the depth chart.

Jeremy Kerley will be a game-time decision in Week 2

Kerley signed with the Jets last week to add some depth to their depleted receiving corps. If he suits up, he'll likely see limited snaps and can't be trusted in fantasy. Robby Anderson, Jeremy Kerley, and ArDarius Stewart would likely be ahead of him in the rotation. Anderson and Kearse are clearly the top two fantasy targets at receiver - both played at least 55-of-58 snaps last week - but they still aren't very appealing in this offense led by Josh McCown. Kearse led the team with nine targets and turned them into seven receptions for 59 yards. While volume may be on his side, he doesn't carry a tremendous ceiling. The Jets are currently implied to score the second-fewest points on the slate (15) as 13.5-point underdogs in Oakland.

Jeremy Kerley a surprise inactive for NYJ

Kerley was expected to man the slot for the Jets, but he'll join Bryce Petty on the inactive list for the season opener. It's possible that his recent addition to the roster plays into his status, but it's not as if he'd have a steep learning curve even with less than a week to prepare. This news certainly bodes well for Robby Anderson who is now a safer bet for looks on the outside while guys like Jermaine Kearse and ArDarius Stewart also candidates to step up for the league's least talented receiving corps.

Jeremy Kerley signs with Jets

The veteran receiver signed a one-year deal with New York Tuesday afternoon. Kerley led the league in targets out of the slot last season (102) and turned them into 60 receptions for 627 yards and three scores. He added four catches for 40 yards when lined up on the outside. He could become a safety valve for Josh McCown and could potentially pick up a decent volume of short, high-percentage targets. Unfortunately for Robby Anderson, Kerley's addition will put a further dent into his workload. Although Kerley could jump into a relatively large role right away, he isn't going to be a very attractive fantasy asset in a poor offensive unit.

Quinton Patton sent to IR, DeAndre Smelter promoted to active roster

Patton has now officially been placed on IR, leaving the 49ers very shorthanded at the WR spot. Torrey Smith is still dealing with a concussion, so Jeremy Kerley, Rod Streater and Chris Harper as the only healthy WRs in addition to the recently added DeAndre Smelter. Kerley still figures to lead this group in targets each week, with Streater and Harper slotting in behind him. None of the 49ers wideouts are recommended DFS targets this weekend, but Kerley figures to be the best bet among the group.
