Jeremy Langford Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Markus Wheaton, Jeremy Langford, Connor Shaw inactive for Thursday's Bears preseason game

Alongside Wheaton, Langford and Shaw on the inactives list will be Kyle Long, Danny Trevathan, LaMarr Houston, Daniel Braverman, Titus Davis, Harold Jones-Quartey and Rashad Reynolds. It's not all that odd to see teams resting projected starters early in the preseason, and some of these guys are resting for precautionary reasons.

Both Eddie Royal and Jeremy Langford miss practice Wednesday

Royal (toe) and Langford (illness) we're not able to get on the practice field today. Royal has been dealing with a toe injury for weeks, but has played the last two games. Without Alshon Jeffery or Zach Miller in the lineup, Royal should see a solid uptick in targets. He'll likely have Matt Barkley throwing to him though, so it'll be a challenge for him to be effective with his opportunities. Langford has been relatively quiet since returning to the lineup, averaging 7.5 touches per game over the pas two weeks. We're expecting them both to play in Week 12.

Jordan Howard's time as Bears' workhorse may be ending soon

Howard has led the Bears running backs in touches five of the past six games, peaking last week with 30 against Minnesota. Jeremy Langford was back for the first time since Week 3, but he only had one reception for 11 yards. Ka'Deem Carey had just two rushing attempts for three yards. However, Bears offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said that he wants to use all three backs in a committee, and that the carries could end up "balancing out." Chicago originally planned on using Langford as their workhorse this season, but that changed when he was injured in their game against Dallas. Howard stepped up in a big way, averaging 147.5 total yards per game in his first two starts. He cooled off a bit the following two weeks, when he failed to exceed 36 yards in either game, and was even out-touched by Carey in Week 7 11-7. In Week 8, he bounced back against a tough Vikings defense, going off for 202 total yards and a touchdown. He might not reach that touch total again this season as Langford nears full health. Chicago plans to actively try to get all three backs involved, and will sometimes go with the hot hand. Howard will still be the lead back this week, but he'll get a tough Tampa Bay rush defense. If he struggles at all, he's at risk of losing snaps. As Loggains puts it, each back has the "opportunity to control how many carries [they] get with [their] play." Keep in mind, without his long run of 69 yards against the Vikings, he would have averaged 3.36 ypc. Howard might not be a safe bet for cash games this week. It'll be a situation worth monitoring going forward.

Cordarrelle Patterson, Cameron Meredith, Jeremy Langford all active for MNF

Patterson will be active this evening and figures to maintain his role as the Vikings #2 WR, setting him up as a viable Mon-Thurs option. He's seen no fewer than six targets in each of his last three games, and given his big play ability, he's well worth a GPP flier. Charles Johnson and Adam Thielen figure to act in complementary roles (Thielen should see the field more often), but neither are recommended DFS plays. Thielen is the only other receiver outside of Diggs and Patterson that should be even remotely considered in tournaments. Kyle Rudolph remains the safest target in this Minnesota passing game. On the Chicago side, they'll have Cameron Meredith, but will be without Eddie Royal. The Bears side is best left untouched - even in small slates - given the match-up with Minnesota's elite defense. With Jeremy Langford back, the Bears backfield is a crowded mess. Jordan Howard is still listed as the Bears starter, but expect the backfield to remain fluid, as they'll probably go with the hot-hand approach.

Jeremy Langford has limited practice Thursday

There's a chance Langford suits up for the first time since injuring his ankle against the Cowboys in Week 3. Even if he does, he'll likely be third string behind Jordan Howard and Ka'Deem Carey. The Bears face the Vikings on Monday night, so it's a tough matchup for their entire offense.

Jeremy Langford returns to practice

The preseason darling of the Bears has returned to practice and should be back in the mix for their game against the Vikings on Monday night. With Jordan Howard and Ka'Deem Carey also vying for touches and a tough as they come match up, all three Bears RB's can be safely avoided for DFS purposes.

Jeremy Langford out 4-6 weeks

He sprained his ankle last night against the Cowboys and it looks like he'll miss a chunk of time to rehab the injury. Jordan Howard stepped in and put up 45 rushing yards on 9 carries while adding 4 receptions 47 yards through the air. If Ka'Deem Carey remains sidelined, Howard should see a huge workload against the Lions. It's a nice matchup as the Lions defense has not been very good this year -- 24th against the pass and 25th against the rush according to Football Outsiders. With Howard's ability to produce in the passing game, and the Bears lack of depth at RB, he should see action regardless of game flow. Currently, Vegas has the over/under at a solid 46 points with Detroit favored by 3 points.

Jeremy Langford dealing with sprained ankle

It's likely to cost Langford a few games, but some had thought it could be a season-ending ACL injury, so things could be worse. With Ka'Deem Carey inactive last night, Jordan Howard took the reigns after Langford left, and he's going to be the guy while Langford remains sidelined. Carey is still dealing with a hamstring injury and is genuinely questionable for Week 4, so the backfield could be left to Howard simply out of necessity. Neither Langford or Carey have looked like above-average runners in their stints with Chicago, so Howard should be given a chance to prove his worth in an otherwise underwhelming backfield.

Five RB's priced under $6500 to target on FanDuel

Finding value at RB is often the key to producing a winning lineup as it allows you to roster higher priced, more reliable, stud WRs. Here are five RB's on FanDuel priced at or under $6500 that you can target this week.

LeGarrette Blount $6000 - it's a favorable game script for Blount against a Dolphins defense that is average or worse against the run. Blount had over 70% of the Pats rushing attempts last weekend and there's no reason to think there won't be more of the same here.

Rashad Jennings $6300 - a RB who will likely get goal line carries in the game with the highest total of the week at this price. Yes please.

Duke Johnson $5400 - probably a better play on DraftKings but even at just half-point per reception, Johnson has some value on FanDuel at this price, especially with McCown back at QB (performed much better with him at QB last season). A tournament option with some upside.

Jeremy Langford $6500 - it's not a great match up but given the volume Langford receives and the fact that he is a three down back, he's viable at this price.

Danny Woodhead $6400 - the little guy that just won't go away from our DFS lineups. He continues to out-touch/out-perform Melvin Gordon and with Keenan Allen out will likely see an even bigger role in the offense (if that were possible).

Matt Forte active for Week 17

Matt Forte is officially active for Week 17 against the Lions, as was expected after Forte tweeted out photos of his game day cleats earlier this morning. In what will most likely be Forte's last game with the Bears, his usage will be in question as Jeremy Langford waits to take over the Bears' starting running back role in 2016. Forte missed some time during Week 16, tweaking his back, but his back injury should not hold him back this week. #6 against RB's in DvP rankings, the Lions do not present an easy match up for the Bears who will be without their other offensive play-makers - Jeffery & Bennett on I.R. / Zach Miller inactive, Josh Bellamy and Marc Mariani starting at WR.
