Sophomore winger will fly under the radar despite nice spot

Jesper Bratt was not in action during the Devils' last two games, but he will rejoin the lineup tonight on the top line alongside Nico Hischier. While the generally useless Drew Stafford is expected to slot in on the top line as well, Bratt is someone who can generate offense on his own. In February alone he sported a team-best 59.15 CF/60 at 5-on-5. Linemate Nico Hischier had a strong 55.88 CF/60 at 5-on-5 as well, so they can form a nice 1-2 punch. With New Jersey hurting for bodies as Marcus Johansson is in Boston and Kyle Palmieri is out indefinitely, someone will have to step up. Bratt seems like the likely candidate as the Swedish forward has 11 points (3G, 8A) in 12 games after the All-Star break. In what amounts to a tough spot for the Flyers after their Stadium Series comeback against the Penguins along with last night's overtime loss in Columbus, New Jersey offers some salary relief in a sneaky matchup. Bratt makes for a low-owned tournament play.

Right back to the well with sophomore Swede

Jesper Bratt was recommended last time out despite a mediocre matchup with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and he did not disappoint. Bratt logged 19 minutes of ice time while picking up a goal and an assist. The Stockholm native is now up to 10 points (3G, 7A) in as many games after the All-Star break. A matchup does not get much better than the Ottawa Senators on the road - a place where they have allowed 4.38 goals per game, by far a league-worst. Additionally, Bratt's price has barely moved as he still checks too cheap on DraftKings ($3,900) and FanDuel ($4,000), making him one of the best sources of salary relief.

Sophomore Swede is shining for New Jersey in February

Jesper Bratt checks in at under $4,000 on both DraftKings and FanDuel which puts him into the conversation for both cash games and tournaments. It is hard to overlook what Bratt has done in February as the 20 year old has picked up a pair of goals and six assists in nine contests. Additionally, Bratt has picked up a power play point in three consecutive games. While a matchup with the Pittsburgh Penguins is not the most exploitable (like the Chicago-Ottawa contest last night), the Devils have dominated the Penguins this season, winning all three games and outscoring Pittsburgh 15-6. Bratt is a strong play tonight.

Value Winger Seeing Increased Responsibilities

The injury to Taylor Hall has led to more ice time and responsibilities for Jesper Bratt. Prior to the injury, Bratt was playing 12-14 minutes per night, but he's been bumped to 14-16 lately and has been on the number one line with Kyle Palmieri and Nico Hischier. While he doesn't see time on the number one power play, he does on the second unit. In his last game, he wasn't shy about putting the puck on net with 5 shots on goal. He should continue to shoot the puck in Hall's absence and makes a great value play.

Swedish rookie headed back to the top line

Jesper Bratt has slowed down after his torrid start, but the morning skate indicates he will skate with Taylor Hall and Nico Hischier on the team's top line as new acquisition Michael Grabner will line up with Pavel Zacha and Kyle Palmieri. Bratt has quietly collected 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists) in 60 games, though all of that production came earlier in the year. Still, with a matchup against the porous Islanders defense, Bratt should easily pay off his salary especially while skating alongside stud Taylor Hall who has collected at least a point in 20 consecutive games. Value at the forward spots is hard to come by tonight, but Bratt stands out as an elite source of salary savings given his price tag across the industry.

Big Potential, Small Price

On the flip side of the this game, the New York Islanders have also been a defensive dumpster fire this year, sitting at or near the bottom of the National Hockey League in most relevant advanced metrics (27th overall in CA/60, 30th in HDCA/60 and dead last in SCA/60), which has led them to allowing more goals against per game than other team in the game. Adding fuel to the fire, the Islanders own the leagues second-worst penalty kill and they are playing their second game in as many nights. In other words, the New Jersey Devils underrated and moderately priced top line is certainly playable tonight in all formats. The Devils top line does not correlate as well as I would like on the power play, but with the Islanders defensive inefficiencies, they still should see plenty of scoring opportunities tonight at the Barclays Center.

top point-per-dollar play on the wing?

The New Jersey Devils are another team worth targeting tonight in all formats and their top line is the main attraction. The Devils are basically a one line team and all three skaters on their number one line have displayed great chemistry when playing together, and I see another multi-goal game in their future. At just $4,700 on FanDuel and $4,300 on DraftKings, Jesper Bratt is one of the top value plays on the board in this plus matchup on home ice.

Multi-Goal Potential At A Bargain

The New Jersey Devils are another team I am targeting tonight, and their top line is where I am focusing. Jesper Bratt finds himself back on the Devils number one line and because of that, he represents one of the top value plays on the wing. The 19-year-old Swede has been quite productive when playing alongside Taylor Hall and company this year, and even though he is on New Jerseys number two power play unit, I still think we can play him as a one-off in cash games, and as part of a moderately priced full line stack in GPPs.

Swedish rookie has six points in three games

There is no doubt Jesper Bratt is playing over his head right now, but he is a must play during this scorching start to the 2017-18 season. Jesper has powered a mediocre New Jersey team to a 3-0 start, tallying three goals and three assists in as many games. Jesper's price has not jumped whatsoever as he checks in at $3,700 on FanDuel, $3,900 on DraftKings and $7,800 on FantasyDraft. A matchup with a Washington team which allowed the fewest goals per game (2.16) in the National Hockey League last season is not ideal, but Jesper's next-to-nothing price point makes him an easy play in cash games. Do not complicate things -- build with Jesper Bratt.
