Jesse Puljujarvi Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
This center seems to have new wingers every other week.
Nobody seems to really stick on Connor McDavid's wing for very long, though Leon Draisaitl has had a lot of success there. Tonight Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jesse Puljujarvi will be there which is a pretty solid trio. The CF/60, CA/60 and CF% of the Edmonton Oilers and their opponents — the Detroit Red Wings — are very similar so I'm just going with McDavid being the reason why Edmonton should win this game as he's so far and ahead the best player in this game. Nugent-Hopkins plays on the top power play unit with McDavid so they make for an interesting mini-stack, but the full stack is definitely a viable play.
Cheap winger has benefit of playing with superstar center
Jesse Puljujarvi saw top line minutes with Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins before the holiday break, and he figures to see more again this evening against the Vancouver Canucks. Puljujarvi logged a season-high in ice time of over 17 minutes in route to collecting an assist. Puljujarvi has never really blossomed like the Oilers' organization had hoped, but Connor McDavid has a way of making everyone around him better (here's looking at you Alex Chiasson). Puljujarvi is an affordable piece on DraftKings at $4,500, and his price really stands out on FanDuel at $3,600, though they frustratingly still have Ryan Nugent-Hopkins listed as a center. Edmonton's top line makes for an affordable line stack with big upside.
**Edit @ 1:30 -- Looks like Hitchcock is going with Chiasson - McDavid - Draisaitl back on the top line so Puljujarvi is no longer in play. Someone like Jason Zucker ($4,600 on DraftKings) stands out. Darnell Nurse is still an exceptional value on FanDuel ($4,400) if looking to gain exposure to the Oilers**
Value Line Stack
If you're looking for a value line stack tonight, consider taking the third line of Edmonton which features Strome, Slepyshev, and Puljujarvi. They draw a juicy matchup against one of the league's worst defensive teams in the Islanders, who have allowed the second most shot attempts and the third most scoring chances among road teams on tonight's slate. This bodes well for this underrated trio of young forwards, who have quietly generated among the most scoring chances and shot attempts on tonight's slate. With home ice advantage on their side, look for head coach Todd Mclellan to get this trio matched up against one of the weaker defensive lines and away from the top line of New York, allowing Strome to wreak havoc in the offensive zone throughout tonight's game to easily pay off their very attractive price tags.
Value Line Stack
If you're looking for a value line stack tonight, consider taking the third line of Edmonton which features Strome, Slepyshev, and Puljujarvi. They draw a juicy matchup against the league's worst team in Arizona, who despite shoring things defensively at home, can still be exposed on the road. This bodes well for this underrated trio of young forwards, who have combined for the most shot attempts per hour among home skaters on tonight's slate. With home ice advantage on their side, look for head coach Todd Mclellan to get this trio matched up against one of the weaker defensive lines and away from the top line of Arizona, allowing Strome to wreak havoc in the offensive zone throughout tonight's game to easily pay off their very attractive price tags.
An exciting opportunity for this 19-year-old winger
It's been a highly disappointing season in Edmonton and Todd McLellan still can't seem to find the right mix of forward lines as it's been a revolving door all season. Tonight, former fourth overall draft pick Jesse Puljujarvi is slated to join Connor McDavid and Patrick Maroon on the top forward line, and that's significant DFS news for the 19-year-old. Puljujarvi's size makes him a headache for opposing defenders down around the net and he's flashed high-end offensive upside at times during his brief NHL career. Playing alongside McDavid should free him up some space to work and he won't need to do too much to exceed value at his current asking price.
Moderately Priced With Multi-Point Upside
All three members of the Edmonton Oilers number one line are in play this evening in all formats, with Connor McDavid easily leading the way, but with their moderate price tags across the industry, both Milan Lucic and Jesse Puljujarvi should also be at the top of your list. The Chicago Blackhawks have struggled with their defensive game all season long (28th in HDCA/60 and 23rd in SCA/60), and they will be playing their second game in as many nights. If you cant pay up for Connor McJesus in cash, both Lucic and Puljujarvi give you cheap exposure, with Lucic being the preferred option, because of his time on the top power play unit. As for tournaments, this trio is a must stack tonight if you are a multi-entry GPP player.
Last season's 4th overall draft pick is breaking out
Todd McLellan was quite careful with last year's first round draft pick Jesse Puljujarvi early on this season, but the 19-year-old is quickly earning more and more responsibilities as the season winds on. Puljujarvi has been an offensive force on the International stage for Finland in recent seasons and his offensive accolades are starting to pay dividends as Connor McDavid's new wing-man on Edmonton's top forward line. Puljujarvi scored his sixth goal of the season over the weekend against Minnesota and has now racked up four goals, a pair of assists while unloading 19 SOG in just seven games during the month of December.
Punt pricing for winger opens door for studs
The winger rotation on the top line continues as Jesse Puljujarvi is the latest to join Connor McDavid. Puljujarvi has made the most of his opportunity by firing 11 shots on goal in his last two games. Last time out, Jesse potted two goals in Calgary, and he should like his chances against a Flyer team that had a disastrous November where they allowed well over three goals per game. With a number of studs in play tonight like Auston Matthews, Connor McDavid and Alex Ovechkin, Jesse is a great way to save salary to get at least two of them.
Shifting lines create a huge opportunity for this former 4th overall draft pick
Todd McLellan continues to keep his forward lines in a blender, and tonight's biggest beneficiary is forner 4th overall draft pick, Jesse Puljujarvi. The 19-year-old has the size to be disruptive down low for the Oilers and his above-average passing skills should lead to plenty of assists with Connor McDavid as his new center. He's dirt cheap across the industry and I'm expecting tonight's game against the Maple Leafs to be an up-tempo battle.
