CLE RB Nick Chubb, RB Demetric Felton, and RB John Kelly will not play Sunday according to HC Kevin Stefanski
As expected, Nick Chubb, Demetric Felton, and John Kelly will not play Sunday against the New England Patriots according to HC Kevin Stefanski. With all three sidelined due to COVID D’Ernest Johnson will lead the backfield as he is currently the only healthy running back available for Cleveland. Johnson would be a tremendous value play, especially after his numbers the last time he led the Browns backfield (146 rush yards, 22 receiving yards on 2 receptions, 1 touchdown). It is likely that Brian Hill will be elevated from the practice squad but it still should be the D'Ernest Johnson show and he should be considered in every lineup and projects to be the most owned player on the slate.
CLE RB Kareem Hunt officially placed on IR; RB John Kelly elevated to active roster
As expected, Hunt was officially placed on I.R, and will miss the next three games for the Browns. John Kelly was activated from the practice squad and should be the third RB behind D'Ernest Johnson and Demetric Felton.
Justin Davis active Sunday
Justin Davis is active Sunday, creating a three-man committee behind Todd Gurley. It's sounding like C.J. Anderson will get the first crack at things, but he looked out of shape earlier this season in Carolina and may not get a long leash if he struggles. Davis would figure to be in front of Kelly in the pecking order, but with Davis banged up it's certainly possible the preseason darling (Kelly) ends up getting more work. It's tough to peg how this backfield will play out, so it's best left for GPP darts only. The LA passing game does get a slight uptick, so consider Woods/Reynolds/Cooks/Everett slightly more appealing plays.
