Jonathan Drouin Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

This 18-year-old has had a respectable rookie season.

In just 13:51 minutes of ice-time per game, Jesperi Kotkaniemi has managed to put up 11 goals and 33 points in his rookie season. He's centering the "third" line tonight with Jonathan Drouin and Joel Armia flanking him. This line is surprisingly intriguing as they've played together the same power play unit as well for the last few games. Giving a line that is this cheap full-game correlation in a solid matchup is very interesting. The Montreal Canadiens host the Florida Panthers who allowed 7 goals last night against the Toronto Maple Leafs. A back-to-back for the Panthers in which there was a goalie switch — albeit very early into the game — games for an interesting matchup.

This centre has become beloved on his new team this season

With 22 goals and 59 points in 64 games, Max Domi has been quite the success in Montreal. Coming over in a trade in the summer, there was a lot of uncertainty with Domi but he has quieted many of his critics. His wingers will be Andrew Shaw — fresh off a hat-trick — and Jonathan Drouin, who is in his second season with the Montreal Canadiens. Much like the Nashville Predators top line, this line has elite upside and full-game correlation as the entire line remains in-tact on the to Habs top power play unit. Montreal leads the NHL with a 66.14 CF/60 over the last month and have the second best CF% with a 54.58 rate. They have been a dominant possession team and a game against the New York Rangers should not slow them down.

Montreal top liner has been on fire over past week

Jonathan Drouin was suggested the other night against the Ducks and he erupted for three assists. In his last game, Drouin had a jaw-dropping nine shots on goal in route to a two goal, two assist performance against Connor Hellebuyck and the Winnipeg Jets. For some reason, Drouin's price has not moved on DraftKings as he checks in at just $4,900. While Drouin is likely to see more attention tonight after his big week, it is hard to argue against his price as he has really elevated his game in February (3G, 6A in four games). A matchup with the Maple Leafs is exploitable.

Favorable spot for the home team against leaky Ducks' defense

The Quebec native is fresh off his first multi-point game in more than a month, and on home ice Drouin has been efficient, tallying 24 points (10G, 14A) in 28 games. With no John Gibson to bail out the atrocious Anaheim defense, Montreal could be in for a big game. Of course the problem with the Canadiens is shared ice time and shared power play time, but Drouin's asking price is not excessive. Anaheim has allowed 20 goals in their last three games, so Montreal makes sense in tournaments if you can nail down the right pieces.

Stacking this line could be a fantastic leverage play.

With Boston being the second-largest favourite tonight, Tuukka Rask is likely going to see heavy ownership both in cash games and tournaments. With that in mind, going with a line stack from the Montreal Canadiens — a team that is actually playing really well according to their underlying numbers — could give you some fantastic leverage. My stack of choice would be Phillip Danault, Brendan Gallagher and Jonathan Drouin. Over the last month, Danault leads the Habs in points with 13 in 14 games. While Drouin and Gally haven't had the same success over that time frame as Danault, the stack still works. This is a line you want to dominate at even strength as you don't even get two of these players on the same power play unit. This is going to be a low-owned, high-risk/high-reward play.

This centre is fitting right in on his new team.

Max Domi has been fantastic for the Montreal Canadiens in his first season on the team. He leads the team with 35 points in 37 games and is second with 14 goals. He's been playing with Jonathan Drouin and Paul Byron on the Habs top line, and they've been solid together. Drouin and Domi both play on the top power play unit and while the full line stack is a good play, the two man mini-stack of those two with their PP correlation makes for a solid play.

In his first year in Montreal, this centre is leaving his mark.

Max Domi came over to Montreal in a trade that sent Alex Galchenyuk to the Arizona Coyotes. 34 games into his Montreal Canadiens tenure, Domi leads the team in points with 33 and is tied for the team lead in goals with 14. He's playing alongside Jonathan Drouin and Andrew Shaw on the Habs top line as they visit the Colorado Avalanche. Over the last three weeks, Montreal has been dominant with their possession numbers. They lead the NHL with a 57.74 CF% and also lead with a 69.28 CF/60 which bodes well as they take on a middle-of-the-pack Avs team.

This line should dominate from puck drop

Max Domi, Jonathan Drouin, and Andrew Shaw will host the Ottawa Senators tonight, who are leading the league in CA/60 at 68.43 and goals against per game (3.81). While potentially all of Montreal’s skaters are in play with a whopping team goal total coming in over four, I will be attacking Ottawa’s weak penalty kill with this line. Adding defensemen Shea Weber give’s you three pieces of the top power-play unit.

Domi to come out on top

The Canadiens have the pleasure of playing the Ottawa Senators who come in fresh off of playing in Detroit last night. Craig Anderson was in net for the Senators and this is significant because usually Mike McKenna gets the call on back-to-back games. Ottawa is 1-3 on back-to-back games with McKenna getting the call the last three times. Max Domi has been an offensive shot in the arm for a Montreal team that has had its troubles scoring goals over the past few years. His 14 goals and 18 assists lead the team in both categories as he skates with Jonathan Drouin and Andrew Shaw on the team’s top line. This seems to be an easy one here especially when you realize that Montreal has gone 6-2 since the return of defenseman Shea Weber. If you don’t think getting your top defenseman back into the line-up helps the offense then I don’t know what to tell you.

This off-season acquisition is dominating for his new team.

In what was seen as a bit of a head-scratcher, the Montreal Canadiens traded centre Alex Galchenyuk for winger Max Domi. This was confusing because the Habs traded a centre for a winger, despite needing a centre. Now, they were using Galchenyuk primarily on the wing and Domi was going to be used at centre, so in their minds it made sense. Well, it has made a lot of sense since Max Domi has really come into his own in Montreal. He leads the team in goals with 14 and points with 31 in 31 games. He's playing alongside Jonathan Drouin and Andrew Shaw on the Habs top line as they host the Carolina Hurricanes tonight. Carolina is a great possession team, but so is Montreal. Additionally, the Hurricanes goaltending is a nightmare and although it is unclear who will be starting, Petr Mrazek is expected and although he has an acceptable 2.55 GAA, his .894 SV% is brutal.
