Joonas Donskoi Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

This center has had an offensive coming-out-party this season

Tomas Hertl is second on the San Jose Sharks in goals (32) and second on the team in points (64), despite missing 5 games. He's expected to centre the second line with Evander Kane and Joonas Donskoi on his wings. The Sharks have been hit with injuries and a bout of the flu which has taken some of their key players out of the mix. It is uncertain which players will be in the lineup tonight so be sure to follow closely. If this line remains in-tact, they make for a great line stack against an Anaheim Ducks team that has struggled all season long.

This red hot winger draws a great matchup on home ice

Evander Kane has five goals and two assists in his last four games. Including two goals against the Canucks on Monday where we seen San Jose put up seven goals. San Jose currently has the second highest xGF/60 in the NHL. Kane, Tomas Hertl, and Joonas Donskoi all play together on the second line. With last change, I expect this line stack to avoid the talented first line of Vancouver. On the blue line I would try to add Brent Burns to the stack. While only correlating with Hertl on the top power-play unit, Burns has been logging huge minutes with Erik Karlsson being sidelined due to injury.

This Sharks' line is sizzling and cannot be stopped

Though Joonas Donskoi has not been involved in the goal-scoring lately, he still has three assists over his last two games. Around the New Year we saw Donskoi is no slouch for scoring either as he had a stretch of eight games where he potted seven goals. With the red-hot Tomas Hertl and Evander Kane on his line, Donskoi has another prime chance to produce tonight against a Vancouver team figures to struggle defensively against San Jose's depth. San Jose has won five in a row, scoring 23 goals in the process. Donskoi and his linemates make for a terrific target in tournaments, despite the elevated price tag of Evander Kane who continues to pepper shots on goal.

Hot sniper and line-mates should convert in this matchup

Evander Kane has been white hot lately, as he has racked up four goals, three assists, and 21 shots over his past four games. Ottawa is a team we have picked on all year, and they continue to rank near the bottom in most defensive categories. The Senator’s have won their past two games and only giving up two goals in the process. However they’re playing their third game in four nights and at the tail end of road west coast road trip. Stacking Kane with line-mates Tomas Hertl and Joonas Donskoi is my preferred play in this game.

Value on San Jose's top forward line

Donskoi missed a couple of weeks with an upper-body injury, but he wasted no time getting back into the box score as he picked up an assist against the Vegas Golden Knights in his return over the weekend. After a slow start to the season, he's picked up his scoring pace down the stretch; posting two goals and five assists in his last eight games. The 25-year-old is slated to join Joe Pavelski and Evander Kane on the Shark's top forward line this evening and he also sees a healthy dose of playing time with the man-advantage. With motivation a big question mark for the recently eliminated Dallas Stars, I expect San Jose to control this game right from the opening faceoff.

Finnish winger finding his groove on top line

Joonas Donskoi has the pleasure of skating with Evander Kane and Joe Pavelski at even-strength. Over Donskoi's last six games, he has potted two goals and four assists while receiving consistent ice time as well as power play time. Although Donskoi is not on the top unit, he offers cheap exposure to the team's top line and second power play unit whose value is raised against the National Hockey League's worst penalty kill (74.6%). Whereas Donskoi is priced more appropriately on DraftKings at $4,900, he is still dirt-cheap ($4,300) on FanDuel. With spending at center being a priority given the floor and upside of Crosby and Malkin, saving a little at wing with Joonas makes a lot of sense.

A salary saver in San Jose

With so many high-dollar options looking very appealing today, finding some quality salary relief will be necessary. Sporting a very reasonable asking price across the industry, Joonas Donskoi looks to be enjoying himself alongside Evander Kane and Joe Pavelski on the Shark's top forward line. The 25-year-old has picked now picked up points in four straight games and is averaging well over 17 minutes of ice-time since the beginning of March. Donskoi also centers San Jose's second power-play unit and sees a nice fantasy boost this evening as he'll square off against a Washington Capitals team that has allowed a troubling 3.55 goals against per game on the road this season and have also allowed the second most high-danger scoring chances against in the entire league. Pairing him with Pavelski and/or Kane is an easy way to "Average Down" your investment.

New linemates creates value in San Jose

With just 25 points on the season, Joonas Donskoi is not the most exciting player to roster in DFS. However, he does warrant your attention tonight for two main reasons; 1) he's now slated to join Joe Pavelski and the newly acquired Evander Kane on the Sharks top forward line, and 2) He'll square off against a Chicago Blackhawks team that has played at the fastest pace in the NHL this season (122.46 CP60). With Donskoi also seeing time on the wing of the Shark's dangerous #1 power-play unit, he should find plenty of opportunities for damage this evening.

Do Not Fade This Line Tonight In Any Format

The San Sharks top line has disappointed us many times throughout the 2017-18 season, but they were money on Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers, and they are very much in play again tonight in all formats, as they host a Chicago Blackhawks squad that struggles to receive good goaltending and play sound defense. Although they are still a decent possession team, the Blackhawks continue to allow too many scoring chances and high-danger scoring attempts, which should lead to the Sharks number one line scoring multiple goals tonight at the Shark Tank. In cash games, Joe Pavelski leads the way, with Joonas Donskoi making a nice value option. As for tournament play, I would strongly suggest you stack this dangerous line this evening, while adding Brent Burns to the mix whenever possible.

Power Play Potential

If you're looking to pick on a struggling road team tonight, consider taking the top line from San Jose which features talented young playmakers Pavelski, Meier, and Donskoi. They draw a fantastic matchup against an Edmonton team that has allowed the third most goals per game during the month of February. This bodes well for this underrated trio of forwards, who have combined for the most scoring chances generated among home teams on tonight's slate. Also featured on San Jose's sixth ranked power play, this line should have no problems paying off their manageable salaries against an Edmonton penalty kill that ranks dead last in the NHL this season.
