Josh Anderson Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
This is one of the most underrated power forwards in the league
This line was dominant last game and there is some hope for them again tonight. Matt Duchene is centering Ryan Dzingel and Josh Anderson on the Columbus Blue Jackets second line. The one issue with this line is you are really counting on them at even strength. Dzingel doesn't play on the power play and Duchene and Anderson are on separate units. They have a matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes which is relatively neutral as of late, but Petr Mrazek in net gives some hope. He has struggled this season with a .908 save percentage and 2.53 goals against average. As the Blue Jackets continue to fight to keep their playoff hopes alive, the should be playing their best hockey.
Streaky winger could keep the Columbus cannon firing all night long
After posting 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists) in 15 December games, Josh Anderson was a ghost in January, collecting a single point in 10 games. Josh seems to be finding his game again though as two games ago he took eight shots on goal which has earned him a promotion to the team's top line with Artemi Panarin. Anderson is affordable across the industry and makes for an interesting option against what should be a tired Pittsburgh team. Columbus has been lackluster for the last month, but they have showed signs of turning it around with two dominating performances against the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders in the past week. Anderson has flashed his upside and is second only to Artemi Panarin on the team for most high-danger chances among forwards. The Penguins have struggled on the road all season long, especially when playing on consecutive nights, so it's a good time to jump on Josh in this plus matchup.
A value option against the NHL's worst defense
Picking on the New York Islander's poor defense and penalty kill is standard practice at this point in the NHL season, so the Columbus Blue Jackets are going to attract some eyeballs. With that said, most users will flock to their top forward line, meaning Josh Anderson could still be a somewhat overlooked source of value tonight. Anderson has cooled off a bit lately, but still owns 17 goals and 10 assists on the young season and his shot volume (163 SOG) remains a consistent fantasy asset. Anderson has lit the lamp on two occasions against the Islanders in their prior two meetings this season and is very reasonably priced industry wide.
Moderately Priced With Multi-Point Upside
The Columbus Blue Jackets have a plus matchup on home ice this evening as they host a Toronto Maple Leafs team playing on consecutive nights with back-up goalie Curtis McElhinney between the pipes. The Blue Jackets offense has been hit or miss all season long, but I really like their top line tonight. Not only are Pierre Luc-Dubois and Josh Anderson moderately priced across the industry, they have also been producing of late, combining for six goals and 14 points in nine December games. Whether you are playing cash games or GPPs, you will want exposure to the Blue Jackets number one line.

Look For This Line To Breakout Tonight
If you're looking to differentiate your lineup from the masses that will be rostering Penguins and Lightning tonight, consider taking the top line from Columbus which features talented young playmakers Panarin, Dubois, and Anderson. They draw a fantastic matchup against a struggling Islanders team that has allowed the second most goals per game during December. This bodes well for this underrated trio of forwards, who lead Columbus in scoring chances generated this season. Also seeing time on CBJ's power play, look for this line to break out in a big way against an Islanders penalty kill that ranks 30th in the NHL this season.
Potentially Under-Owned Top Line
If you're looking to differentiate your lineup from the masses that will be rostering Penguins and Lightning tonight, consider taking the top line from Columbus which features talented young playmakers Panarin, Dubois, and Anderson. They draw a fantastic matchup against a formerly stingy Devils team that has allowed the second most shot attempts and scoring chances among available road teams tonight. This bodes well for this underrated trio of forwards, who lead Columbus in scoring chances generated this season. All moderately priced, Panarin, Dubois, and Anderson make for an affordable line stack that could go overlooked on tonight's 10 game slate.
The Top Point-Per-Dollar Play On The Wing Tonight?
Anderson has been quite productive since being promoted to the Columbus Blue Jackets top line, and he may be playing his best hockey of the season, producing seven points in his last six games. The New Jersey Devils represent a plus matchup for Anderson and company with their inability to play a strong defensive game. The Devils have been one of the worst defensive teams in the National Hokey League this season, sitting 30th overall in CA/60 and 27th in SCA/60. Considering the favorable matchup and his inexpensive price industry wide, Anderson may just be the best bang for your buck on the wing tonight.
Cam Atkinson's absence has open the door for this Columbus winger
With Cam Atkinson sidelined, Josh Anderson is going to see all the work he can handle on the wing of Columbus' top forward line. The 23-year-old appeared here as a fine value option yesterday and delivered with his sixth goal of the season. Anderson has scored three goals in the last three games and unloaded 13 shots on goal in the process yet can still be found at a bargain price-point across the industry. Facing the Montreal Canadiens has not been a strong fantasy matchup in year's past, but that certainly hasn't been the case this season as the 'Habs have coughed up 3.67 goals against per game.
Value on the Blue Jacket's top forward-line
Anderson quietly racked up 17 goals in his first full NHL season last year, and looks poised to sail past the 20-goal plateau this time around. He's joined Nick Foligno and Artemi Panarin on the Blue Jacket's top forward line and has taken advantage of the opportunity; scoring five goals and adding three assists over the last ten games. He also sees a healthy dose of playing time with the Blue Jacket's #2 power-play unit, solidifying him as a fine value option tonight.
