Justin Anderson Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Goga Bitadze (foot) will play on Monday; Duane Washington (hip) ruled out. With Justin Anderson re-signing, Pacers will have 9 available players.
Goga Bitadze (foot) will play on Monday; Duane Washington (hip) ruled out. With Justin Anderson re-signing, Pacers will have 9 available players.
Justin Anderson is listed as probable
In today’s edition of Hawks injury whack-a-mole, it’s Huerter and Bazemore that are out, with Taurean Prince, De’Andre Bembry and Justin Anderson standing to benefit. From what it sounds like right now, John Collins, Deyonta Davis and Alex Len are all expected to play, so the value is going to be on the wing instead of in the Hawks front court today. For now. Trae Young has been in good form lately and should continue that tonight, so he is always in consideration with whomever else you’d like to roster from the Hawks value.
Justin Anderson to start in place of Taurean Prince on Friday
Justin Anderson to start in place of Taurean Prince on Friday. Anderson hasn't really had a rotation role over the course of this season, but he could see some added opportunities at the tail end of the season. He still carries a really low floor, but he is on the DFS radar as a minimum priced punt play with the hopes that he sees upwards of 25 minutes. DeAndre Bembry, Kent Bazemore and Kevin Huerter also will likely see upticks in playing time, so you can make a case for any of them in GPPs.
Dewayne Dedmon (knee) out Monday; Justin Anderson (illness) available to play
Dedmon has officially been downgraded from doubtful and won't play in Monday’s matchup against the Indiana Pacers due to a sore left knee that's now forced him to miss two consecutive games, while Justin Anderson has been cleared to play despite battling an illness. With Dedmon unavailable, Len will likely remain in the starting lineup at center following a serviceable fantasy performance in just 24 minutes of action in his first spot start. The Hawks will also be without Kent Bazemore for at least the next two weeks because of a sprained right ankle, so DeAndre Bembry is expected to alongside Kevin Huerter on the wing after he logged 30 minutes in relief of Bazemore in Saturday's win. With Dedmon, Bazemore, Taurean Prince off the court this season, Trae Young has thrived offensively, as he owns a massive 36.4% usage rate (+7.5%) and is averaging 1.25 DraftKings and 1.18 FanDuel points per minute in 108.3 minutes sample size.
Justin Anderson (ankle sprain) available to play Tuesday
Anderson has officially been cleared to play and will suit up for Tuesday's game against the Charlotte Hornets after previously being listed as questionable on the Philadelphia 76ers' injury report with a sprained right ankle that had forced him to miss the last eight consecutive games. While Anderson was sidelined, the Sixers have made some key additions to their rotation by signing Marco Belinelli and Ersan Ilyasova, so he won't be privy to the same role he had prior to his injury absence and will likely step in as the tenth man in the rotation, firmly behind Belinelli and T.J. McConnell in the backcourt and wing pecking order. In fact, the presence of Belinelli and Ilyasova have already relegated Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Richaun Holmes from the rotation entirely and it would be unsurprising if Anderson is a DNP-CD from time-to-time depending on matchup and game flow.
Joel Embiid (ankle) questionable Wednesday; Justin Anderson (ankle) out 7-10 days
Embiid has been listed as questionable on the Philadelphia 76ers' injury report for Wednesday's game against the Miami Heat due to a lingering sore right ankle, while Justin Anderson has been diagnosed with a high right ankle sprain and won't be re-evaluated for another 7-10 days. This is the third time in the last four games that Embiid has been on the receiving end of a questionable designation, and if the recent trend holds true, he'll go through pregame warmups before clearing himself to play in tonight's contest. With Anderson sidelined, newly-signed Marco Belinelli is likely to step into his vacated role in the second unit, while either Jerryd Bayless or Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot could enter the rotation and absorb nominal playing time on the wing. Head coach Brett Brown disclosed to reporters during his pregame media availability on Monday that he views Belinelli as the eighth-man in his healthy rotation, which would slot him right behind Anderson and T.J. McConnell in terms of projected minutes, so he should be expected to be promoted to the seventh man in the rotation and log minutes in at least the low-20s for the duration of Anderson's absence.
Joel Embiid (back) questionable Thursday, but expected to play; Justin Anderson (shin) will play
Embiid has officially been listed as questionable on the Philadelphia 76ers' injury report for tonight's game against the Portland Trail Blazers due to back tightness, but according to head coach Brett Brown, the team is approaching this road matchup as if Embiid will be playing. Meanwhile, Justin Anderson will be active and available off the bench after missing the last 19 games with shin splints in his left leg. Embiid was able to log 34 minutes in the Christmas Day win over the New York Knicks and has played in two straight games, increasing the likelihood he'll be good to go coming off of a full two-days rest between games. It has essentially become the norm for the Sixers to list Embiid as questionable and as long he's able to loosen up his back pregame, he'll continue to play through the back tightness that has plagued him the last few weeks. The last time the Sixers faced off with the Trail Blazers, Embiid led the team with a 40.2% usage rate and averaged 1.63 fantasy points per minute, making him a fine tournament option on Thursday's slate, if he suits up, at likely reduced ownership.
Justin Anderson (shin) questionable Wednesday; Jerryd Bayless (wrist) remains out
Anderson is a late-addition to the Philadelphia 76ers injury report for tonight's game against the Los Angeles Lakers and has been listed as questionable with left shin soreness. The Sixers are still without Jerryd Bayless, Markelle Fultz, and Nik Stauskas, while Jahlil Okafor has been upgraded to questionable with an illness, though he has yet to play in a game this season where Joel Embiid is active and available to play as he is Wednesday night. If Anderson is ruled out, that would leave Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot as essentially the only wing player available of the Sixers bench and should allow him to approach minutes in the mid-20s, putting him in play as a deep flier for large-field tournaments.
Robert Covington (knee) does not travel with Philadelphia for their upcoming two road games
Covington has missed one game due to a knee issue and the team conducted MRI on his knee. So far, the results have not shown any major issues but the team is being cautious since they have nothing to play for moving forward. Covington will not play against Cleveland or Toronto and his next opportunity to play will be against the Nets in Philly. Justin Anderson started in his place last night and played a shade over 25 minutes. Anderson will continue to be a viable GPP option as long as his salary stays low. Timothe Luwawau-Cabarrot has also taken advantage of the extra usage in the starting lineup and continues to exceed value.
Justin Anderson replaces Robert Covington in the starting lineup
Anderson has been confirmed as the Sixers starter at small forward for tonight's game against the Atlanta Hawks, replacing Robert Covington, who was recently ruled out with a sore right knee. With Gerald Henderson probable, that leaves Anderson, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, and Nik Stauskas as the only other wing players available to soak up the vacated playing time. Stauskas will also be relied upon to absorb some backup point guard minutes with Sergio Rodriguez still sidelined with an injury. The news of Henderson being expected to play is the most interesting takeaway here, as he will back up Anderson and Luwawu-Cabarrot on the wing and see substantial playing time. However, Anderson, Stauskas, and Luwawu-Cabarrot are all preferred targets in any format over Henderson, while T.J. McConnell and Dario Saric still remain elite options in all formats and should see a nice usage bump without Covington and Okafor available.
