Justin Forsett Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
LB Justin Houston inactive for Chiefs; DL Derek Wolfe active for Broncos
While Houston's absence is good for Denver's running game, it may not be enough. The Broncos have averaged 38 rushing yards since Justin Forsett joined the team. Over those two games, Forsett averaged 3.4 yards per carry. He's out-touched Devontae Booker in each of those games and should do so again tonight, but he'll be a very risky option.
Justin Forsett could out-touch Devontae Booker again in Week 15
Denver was playing from behind all game on Sunday and they ended up throwing the ball 51 times, which left little work for their running backs. Booker and Forsett combined for nine carries and 18 rushing yards. Even though it was Forsett's first game with the Broncos, he accounted for six of those carries and out-touched Booker 9-5 in total. Beat writer Mike Klis believes that Booker is getting worn down, as he had two knee surgeries in the offseason. This means Booker is a player to avoid in fantasy down the stretch. Forsett will likely lead the backfield and Juwan Thompson could get more work. Of course, the offensive line has struggled all season as well, so Forsett isn't really a viable option either. Expect plenty of throwing from Siemian and plenty of passes for Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, who've received 54.1% of the team's targets. They visit the Patriots in Week 15, who rank 25th in pass DVOA.
Devontae Booker and Justin Forsett will split work Sunday
Coach Gary Kubiak anticipates Forsett contributing right away, adding that he'll split time with Booker like Kapri Bibbs did. Forsett had a career year in 2014 when Kubiak was his offensive coordinator in Baltimore. This is part of the reason Denver signed the veteran running back, he already has a good feel for the playbook. Booker hasn't been effective this season, averaging 3.5 yards per carry, and there was speculation among beat writers that Bibbs was on track to take over the starting role before his injury. For now, Booker should still be the lead back and get the majority of the touches, but he'll be hard to trust. He projects as our RB23 on FanDuel.
Denver places Kapri Bibbs on IR
He was given a 2-4 week timeline to heal and the Broncos needed the roster spot for Justin Forsett. It's unfortunate as Bibbs had a shot to earn the starting job over a struggling Devontae Booker. With Bibbs done, it'll be Booker and Forsett going forward and neither have been particularly effective this season. It's a situation to monitor this week as Forsett should acclimate quickly as he played in Kubiak's offense back in 2014.
Denver claims Justin Forsett off waivers
Signing Forsett makes sense as the Broncos are thin at running back now that Kapri Bibbs is expected to miss some time with an ankle sprain. Forsett played for coach Gary Kubiak in 2014 when Kubiak was the Ravens' offensive coordinator. He rushed for 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns that year. Forsett won't be a viable fantasy option this week, but he should be able to pick up the offense quickly and if Devontae Booker continues to struggle, he could carve out a decent touch-share should Bibbs remain sidelined.
Theo Riddick, Dwayne Washington set to play in Week 8
It looks like the Lions will have four healthy RBs on Sunday, although one of Forsett/Zenner could very well end up being a healthy scratch. With Riddick set to return, he should see the majority of the snaps at halfback (especially on passing downs), but Washington figures to see around 8-10 touches and should compete with Riddick for a good chunk of the early down work. We shouldn't expect Riddick to see much more than ten totes with a handful of targets, so he's a risky DFS target in a crowded backfield.
Lions don't expect Dwayne Washington to play
The Washington Redskins are an ideal matchup for RBs. Usually we can't target the Lions' backfield though because carries are too hard to predict. That should be easier this week though as the Lions are expected to have just two active RBs. Justin Forsett and Zach Zenner are expected to split carries. Last week in the same situation, Zenner out snapped Forsett 48 to 12. It is worth noting that Forsett was only signed in the week prior to that game. Even in an excellent matchup, Forsett and Zenner are probably just GPP options. It's probably still safer just to use Mike Gillislee splitting carries with LeSean McCoy (if McCoy plays). The Lions are more likely to go pass-heavy this week using check downs to Tate and Bolden as their de facto running game.
Theo Riddick and Eric Ebron both ruled OUT for Week 7
Both players missed last week's game against the Rams as well. In that game Golden Tate lead the team in targets with ten and Anquan Boldin was second with nine. Detroit will probably use both of those players in similar roles against the Redskins this weekend, but they may not find as much success. Football Outsiders ranks Washington 11th in pass DVOA. Plus, they've only allowed six passing touchdowns in six games. Dwayne Washington missed their last game, but is expected back this week. Detroit will likely try to find success on the ground through Washington, Zach Zenner, and Justin Forsett, which could further cut into the receivers' fantasy production. The Redskins rank 31st in rushing DVOA and they've allowed the third-most rushing touchdowns (8). Unfortunately, the backfield isn't really in play for fantasy; Washington is coming off an ankle sprain (something to avoid) and Detroit will likely employ a three-man committee.
Dwayne Washington limited in practice Wednesday
He missed their last game as he's dealing with foot and ankle injuries. If he's able to play Sunday, he'll likely split time with Zach Zenner and Justin Forsett. Neither back was particularly effective against the Rams in Washington's absence, but Washington himself hasn't been that great either. If his lone run above ten yards was removed (he had one for 28 yards against the Titans), he would be averaging 2.8 yards per carry this season. However, the Lions have a plus matchup this Sunday against a very bad Redskins' rushing defense, so it's a situation worth monitoring.
Dwayne Washington will not play Sunday
Per Adam Schefter, Dwayne Washington won't play on Sunday against the Rams. With Theo Riddick also on the shelf, the backfield is left to an underwhelming duo of Zach Zenner and the newly-signed Justin Forsett. It's possible that Forsett is eased in after just joining the team, but there were reports that he may be the starter even if Washington was going to be active, although if Washington was fully healthy that would probably not be the case. Zach Zenner is likely to see any goal-line work and should account for at least half the early-down work, with Forsett better off in the passing game. Both backs have really low floors, but it's not out of the question to use one of them sparingly as a GPP punt. Zenner's touchdown upside makes him the better ceiling play.
