Justin Hunter Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Steelers promote RB Trey Edmunds to active roster, place WR Justin Hunter (shoulder) on injured reserve

James Conner is reportedly dealing with a lower leg contusion, so the Steelers made a flurry of roster moves Tuesday morning, and they have placed Justin Hunter on injured reserve and promoted running back Trey Edmunds to take his place on the active roster. This activation doesn't necessarily guarantee that Conner won't be able to play in Week 14, but if he can't, Edmunds would provide some much need depth behind Jaylen Samuels and Stevan Ridley at the position. As for Hunter, he was active over James Washington in Sunday night's loss, so it appears likely that Washington will dress for game days moving forward with Hunter unavailable. However, prior to this week, Hunter was already losing snaps to Ryan Switzer and was on the field for just 23% of snaps in the previous game he was active for in Week 12.

TNF Inactives: Torrey Smith, Cameron Artis-Payne, Justin Hunter

No surprises here. With Smith inactive, we'll see D.J. Moore handle the #2WR role, giving him some considerable appeal in Showdown formats. Cameron Artis-Payne is inactive as he's been in recent weeks, and Steelers WR Justin Hunter will sit for a second straight game while James Washington handles the #3WR duties for the Steelers. Washington is a potential punt play in Showdown formats, but the Steelers TEs are priced similarly and are better bets to find the end-zone.

Justin Hunter a healthy scratch Sunday; James Washington will be active

This news has next to no DFS impact, but Hunter will be inactive Sunday, giving James Washington a chance to see time behind Antonio Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster.

Sunday night inactives: Hayden Hurst inactive for BAL; Justin Hunter inactive for PIT

Hayden Hurst won't play tonight against the Steelers, which will leave the TE duties primarily to Nick Boyle and Mark Andrews. With Justin Hunter inactive again, James Washington will continue to operate as the 3rd WR and deserves some attention in single-game formats.

Steelers inactives include Justin Hunter yet again, setting up James Washington to continue seeing ample snaps as the WR3

Steelers inactives include Justin Hunter yet again, setting up James Washington to continue seeing ample snaps as the WR3. He played about 80% of the snaps in Week 2 which may have had something to do with the Steelers playing catch-up throughout, but he should still operate as the WR3 and play somewhere in the neighborhood of 50-80% of the offensive snaps. He's a fine dart-throw for Showdown contests if you want to differentiate.

Robert Woods expected to play Sunday

Beat writer Joe Buscaglia is expecting Robert Woods to play against the Patriots tomorrow. Woods has averaged 7.5 targets per game over the past four weeks, but he could see an uptick with Marquise Goodwin sidelined. Justin Hunter will start opposite Woods, and is an interesting GPP flier. LeSean McCoy probably won't play, and the Bills are currently 6.5-point underdogs, so they should be throwing more than normal. Plus, it's a revenge game for the Patriots as Buffalo shut them out at home in Week 4.

Marquise Goodwin officially OUT this week

Going through the concussion protocol and having missed practice all week this news is not a big surprise. Robert Woods, if he plays, Justin Hunter, and Charles Clay are the biggest beneficiary of this news with Hunter probably getting the biggest boost as Tyrod Taylor's deep threat. He's intriguing as a DFS dart throw with some upside going against a Patriots defense that is 25th in Pass DVOA.

Marquise Goodwin in concussion protocol, questionable for Week 8

Goodwin led the Bills in targets against the Dolphins with seven. Their number one receiver, Robert Woods, missed the game with a foot injury. It's possible for Woods and Goodwin to both miss their Week 8 matchup with New England. In that scenario, Justin Hunter would likely be the number one receiver, but tight end Charles Clay would probably be Tyrod Taylor's primary target. New England has been worse defending the pass than the rush, and the Bills are 6.5-point underdogs. Both Clay and Hunter would be worth tournament consideration in a game where the Bills will likely have to throw a lot.

Robert Woods officially ruled out, Justin Hunter will start

Hunter will start opposite Marquise Goodwin when the Bills visit the Dolphins Sunday. He scored a touchdown in each of the past two games, despite having just four targets in that stretch. He costs the minimum across the industry and Tyrod Taylor seems to trust him in the red zone. Hunter is definitely worth a tournament flier against a very bad Miami secondary. If you want to go down narrative street, Hunter was cut by the Dolphins a month ago; he'll want to show them something today.

Robert Woods misses another practice; appears unlikely to play this week

The Bills current #1 WR missed his third straight practice and it does not look like he will play this week against the Dolphins. Marquise Goodwin and Justin Hunter should see some more targets come there way and are reasonable value WR options (but there is plenty of value to be had this weekend so nothing more than GPP flyers). Charles Clay also should see an uptick in usage. We'll update you if anything changes regarding to Woods prior to game time on Sunday.
