Justin Rose Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Trending Upward + Elite Course History
Since the restart, Rose has posted finishes of T3, T14, and a missed cut. He ditched his Honma irons during the break and it's clearly done wonders for his game -- currently third in strokes gained tee to green (per round) since the restart. He tends to play well on difficult courses and he's certainly played well at Muirfield Village in the past. Check out his finishes the last six times he's played here -- T8, T6, T2, MC, T8, and T8. His game is trending in the right direction and he should feel rejuvenated after taking last week off.
Intriguing Upside
I was skeptical of Rose heading into last week’s tournament, as his 2019-2020 form had been nothing to write home about for a player that commands a healthy DFS salary tag. He went out and proved the doubters wrong, finishing in a tie for third just one stroke outside of the playoff. It is probably not a coincidence that his return to form came immediately after his much talked about split with equipment maker Honma. Rose can now go back to focusing on sharpening his golf game, and he did just that at Colonial. There is no doubt that his statistical profile this year is ugly, but I am willing to put that aside given the recent changes, the long layoff, and the fact that he has not played in a lot of events this season. His all around game was fantastic last week, and this might be one of the final chances to get him at low-ish ownership marks.
Justin Rose officially still with Honma Golf
With a ton of uncertainty about his game moving forward, Justin Rose continues to decline in terms of player confidence for the DFS Community. Adding to his poor play this season is the bit of confusion surrounding the status of his deal with Honma golf. After signing a multi-year deal to feature Honma clubs in his bag, Rose has really struggled to find a fit that he likes and therefore is starting to search for answers with other brand named equipment. As of Wednesday Rose and Honma have not made an official announcement about the status of their partnership. Heading into this week's Players Championship a discounted Rose appears to be a player that many will avoid for the week. If you are a person that buys into long term talent, then this is a great spot to grab a few shares of Rose in some of the larger field tournaments.
Justin Rose plays Wednesday Pro-Am without his Honma clubs
Struggling to find his form this season Justin Rose could have a different set of irons in his bag on Thursday. Rose showed up to the course on Wednesday without a Honma club in his bag. Last week at The Honda Classic Rose was spotted playing the new Taylor Made SIM driver, and this week he has added what appears to be Taylor Made blades in place of his normal Honma irons. Rose has a multi-year deal with Honma, so it will be interesting to see what actually happens on Thursday.
Putting our Differences Aside
I’m not the biggest fan of Rose when it comes to DFS. He seems like a great person on and off the course, but I’ve always held a grudge after he cost me the Fantasy Golf World Championship two years ago. All he needed to do was make the cut after not missing a cut in more than a calendar year. I’m not bitter, you are bitter. Kidding aside, I can’t overlook this price point. I know he missed the cut his last time out at the Farmers Insurance Open, but he was the defending champion and was coming off of a layoff. Do you know the last time he missed back-to-back cuts on the PGA Tour? Back in 2015 when he missed three cuts in four events. He doesn’t play this event every season, but has never missed a cut here and has four top 16 finishes here in his last five tries. He doesn’t have a weakness in his game, he loves playing in California, and he’s just too cheap across the industry.
Justin Rose withdrew from from The BMW Pro-Am
For those playing Euro DFS Golf this week, please take note of Justin Rose's health prior to roster lock early Thursday morning. Rose hurt his knee last week and is considered doubtful to play in The BMW Championship. Although he has been getting treatment for the past week, the inability to play in the Pro-Am does not bode well for Rose's chances to play this week. We will keep an eye on the status of Rose up until roster lock.
Defending FedEx Cup Champion stands out as a top value play
Despite playing his best golf Justin Rose has an outside chance of repeating as FedEx Cup Champion. Starting the week 8 shots behind leader Justin Thomas, Rose will find himself in the precarious spot of playing near-perfect golf in order to contend on the weekend. Priced at a discount due to his starting position Rose stands out as one of the top value golfers in this week's field. Having gained almost 23 shots in his last four starts at East Lake, Rose seems to like this track and could end up being a difference-maker for the week. Only a few shots out of a top-five type finish, a priced down Rose makes sense in a wide variety of roster builds for the final event of the 2019 season.
Elite Golfer Priced at a Huge Discount
Rose wasn’t great at the BMW Championship, but I’m not overly concerned. He lost five strokes putting for the tournament and he lost four strokes on approach in a single hole. If you take out the two water balls and say that he gained one stroke on the greens (which is more typical of Rose), he ends up at 14-under par which would have put him in the top 10. He’s been a top 10 machine all season and he’s actually a better putter on bermuda than on any other surface. The real reason to like him this week is his price point — he’s $6,900 on DraftKings and $9,000 on FanDuel. I’ll take a class golfer at this price no matter how many strokes he’s behind to start the tournament.
This Rose Doesn't Have a Thorn
Rose has always been a golfer that we could rely on to gain strokes in all facets of his game. He's long and straight off the tee, he's solid with his irons, he rarely loses strokes around the greens, and he's an above-average putter. He hasn't been a name on the collective DFS radar even though he's posted four straight top 20 finishes. Most of his wins on tour have come on bentgrass and he's one of a handful of golfers that played Liberty National in both in 2013 (T2) and in 2009 (T41). I really can't find a knock on Rose this week and I love his price across the industry.
Justin Rose forced to make another caddie switch
Justin Rose took to social media on Tuesday to thank his longtime caddie Mark Fulcher for his 11 years of service. Fulcher underwent heart surgery in January and had returned to caddie for Rose at The Masters. After just a few tournaments of work, doctors have informed Fulcher that he needs to take a break from the stress of caddying to focus on his health. For now, the long partnership between Fulcher and Rose is on hold and Gareth Lord will return to action as Rose's caddie. Rose has struggled over his last few starts, so it will be interesting to see if the change at caddie has any effect on his game. Lord carried the bag for Rose earlier this season including his win The Farmers in January. Rose has 7 top 10's in his career at Muirfield VIllage including a win at the 2010 Memorial.
