Ka'Deem Carey Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Ka'Deem Carey inactive Saturday

Jordan Howard will be the workhorse back for the Bears once again. He's averaged 124.0 total yards over the past seven games, only being held under 100 yards once ... when he had 99 against the Giants. Today he faces a Washington that's allowed the third-most fantasy points to running backs per game over the past four weeks. It's a great spot to roster Howard, and he's a had a very solid floor over the past seven games, which makes him viable for cash games in addition to tournaments. He projects as one of our top points-per-dollar plays on both FanDuel (2nd) and DraftKings (3rd).

Jordan Howard's time as Bears' workhorse may be ending soon

Howard has led the Bears running backs in touches five of the past six games, peaking last week with 30 against Minnesota. Jeremy Langford was back for the first time since Week 3, but he only had one reception for 11 yards. Ka'Deem Carey had just two rushing attempts for three yards. However, Bears offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said that he wants to use all three backs in a committee, and that the carries could end up "balancing out." Chicago originally planned on using Langford as their workhorse this season, but that changed when he was injured in their game against Dallas. Howard stepped up in a big way, averaging 147.5 total yards per game in his first two starts. He cooled off a bit the following two weeks, when he failed to exceed 36 yards in either game, and was even out-touched by Carey in Week 7 11-7. In Week 8, he bounced back against a tough Vikings defense, going off for 202 total yards and a touchdown. He might not reach that touch total again this season as Langford nears full health. Chicago plans to actively try to get all three backs involved, and will sometimes go with the hot hand. Howard will still be the lead back this week, but he'll get a tough Tampa Bay rush defense. If he struggles at all, he's at risk of losing snaps. As Loggains puts it, each back has the "opportunity to control how many carries [they] get with [their] play." Keep in mind, without his long run of 69 yards against the Vikings, he would have averaged 3.36 ypc. Howard might not be a safe bet for cash games this week. It'll be a situation worth monitoring going forward.

Jeremy Langford returns to practice

The preseason darling of the Bears has returned to practice and should be back in the mix for their game against the Vikings on Monday night. With Jordan Howard and Ka'Deem Carey also vying for touches and a tough as they come match up, all three Bears RB's can be safely avoided for DFS purposes.

Zach Miller and Ka'Deem Carey questionable, both expected to play

With Eddie Royal ruled out for Thursday's game against the Packers, Miller should be able to pick a solid number of targets. It also helps that the Packers' secondary has been depleted by injuries, while their rushing defense remains solid (notwithstanding Ezekiel Elliot's performance). More than likely, the Bears will throw the ball a lot tomorrow night. When they do run though, expect them to use Carey a decent amount. He out-rushed Jordan Howard last week (50 yards to 34 yards) despite having fewer carries (9 to 15). If Howard struggles at all, Carey will cut into Howard's workload again.

Ka'Deem Carey active for Bears, will back up Jordan Howard

There isn't a real danger to Howard's workload. Carey will simply serve to break him at certain points in the game. Chicago is extremely high on Howard and they love using him in both phases of the offense. Last week against the Lions, he ran for 111 yards on 23 carries and caught 3 passes for 21 yards. He has another positive matchup today against the Colts, a team that ranks 26th in rushing DVOA. Indianapolis has allowed five rushing touchdowns, whereas the Lions haven't allowed any this season. It would seem like Howard's touchdown potential is higher than it was last week. Although his price has increased quite a bit on FanDuel, he's still a great bargain on DraftKings.

Ka'Deem Carey has another limited practice Thursday

Carey didn't play last week when Jordan Howard went off for 132 yards on 26 touches. Although he's on track to play Sunday, Howard will be Chicago's lead back. Carey will be used to spell Howard on a few snaps, but don't expect much more. With Kevin White on the IR, Alshon Jeffery less than 100%, and Eddie Royal questionable to play, Howard should get as much volume as he can handle. The Colts rank 26th in rushing DVOA and 30th against receiving running backs. It's worth noting Detroit, their opponent last week, hasn't allowed a rushing touchdown all year while the Colts give up 1.25 per game. It should be another great matchup for Howard, who remains very affordable across the industry.

Alshon Jeffery, Ka'Deem Carey limited on Wednesday

Both players were able to get in a limited practice, which bodes well for their chances of suiting up Sunday. Jeffery is the far better bet to play, as he hasn't been limited in games and with the Bears now missing Kevin White, they'll desperately need his play-making abilities. Expect Jeffery to exceed his season-high total of seven targets assuming he's able to make it through Sunday unscathed. As for Carey, he'll need to get another few practices in before it actually looks like he'll be back in the fold. We'll continue updating throughout the week.

Ka'Deem Carey officially inactive against Lions

No surprise here, but it's good news for the chalk play of the week, Jordan Howard. The Lions have allowed 5.1 yards per carry, which is tied for worst in the league. They also have trouble defending receiving running backs, ranking 23rd in DVOA against them. Howard does both well, and should see plenty of volume on the ground and through the air.

Ka'Deem Carey doesn't practice Wednesday

Carey's absence isn't a good sign considering he sat out last week's game and doesn't appear all that likely to suit up Sunday. Assuming Carey sits, Jordan Howard will have the backfield to himself more or less, with practice squad call-up Raheem Mostert and recent free-agent acquistion Joique Bell as the other healthy backs on the roster. Mostert has shown some flashes in previous preseasons, but he's moved around from practice squad to practice squad over the last two years and shouldn't be much of a threat to Howard's workload. With Bell just being signed this week, it's unlikely he plays a notable role.

Jeremy Langford dealing with sprained ankle

It's likely to cost Langford a few games, but some had thought it could be a season-ending ACL injury, so things could be worse. With Ka'Deem Carey inactive last night, Jordan Howard took the reigns after Langford left, and he's going to be the guy while Langford remains sidelined. Carey is still dealing with a hamstring injury and is genuinely questionable for Week 4, so the backfield could be left to Howard simply out of necessity. Neither Langford or Carey have looked like above-average runners in their stints with Chicago, so Howard should be given a chance to prove his worth in an otherwise underwhelming backfield.
